Replacing the Batteries
The Hot Wheels™First Start Laptop operates on 2 AAbatteries.
1) The battery cover is on the underside of the unit.
2) Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the screw that
holds the battery cover in place. The screw will stay
in the battery cover.
3) Lift the cover up and pull it out.
4) Discard the old batteries carefully.
5) Insert new batteries, taking careful
note of the correct polarity.
6) Replace the cover by inserting the
tabs first, then tighten the screw.
Caution
• Different types of batteries or new
and used batteries are not to be mixed.
• Only use batteries of the same or
equivalent type.
• Remove batteries from the unit if
the unit is not going to be used for
a long time.
• Remove all batteries when replacing.
• Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
• Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged.
• Rechargeable batteries are to be removed from the toy
before being recharged.
• Rechargeable batteries are only to be recharged under
adult supervision.
• Exhausted batteries should be removed from the toy.
• The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.
Cleaning and Maintenance
The unit should be regularly examined for damage to the
enclosure and other parts. In the event of such damage
the unit must not be used until the damage has been
repaired. Always disconnect the power supply and/or
remove the batteries before cleaning. Wipe the unit
with a dry cloth.
• Do not get the unit wet.
• Do not dismantle the unit.
Operating The Hot Wheels
™
First Start Laptop:
• Turn on your The Hot Wheels™First
Start Laptop by pressing the [ON]
button located on the keyboard.
• If no card is inserted, The Hot Wheels
™
First Start Laptop is in default mode.
• Choose one of the activity cards,
and insert it in the top of The Hot
Wheels
™
First Start Laptop to begin an
activity.Answer questions using the
appropriate keys on the keyboard.
• To turn the unit off, press the
[OFF] button.
Default Mode:
• Press any key to hear how it
sounds.
• Press the [effects] key to hear
a sound effect.
Auto-off
If there is no input for 5 minutes the unit will automatically
turn itself off to conserve power. When you are ready to
start playing again just press the [ON] button to turn the
unit back on.
Card mode:
Questions are asked relating to the
images and words seen on the cards.
Press the relevant keys to answer.
• To answer a colour question, press
the relevant [colour] key.
• To answer a shape question, press
the relevant [shape] key. (Please note
colour and shape keys are the same
buttons.)
• To answer a number question, press
the relevant [number] key.
• To answer a spelling question, press
the relevant [letter] key.
• Press the [effects] key to hear a
sound effect at any time during
game play.
• Press the [repeat] key to repeat
the question.
• If the card is removed, The Hot
Wheels
™
First Start Laptop returns
to default mode.
Trouble-Shooting
In the unlikely event that The Hot
Wheels™First Start Laptop fails to
respond, check that the batteries
are new and inserted correctly. If
this does not solve the problem,
press the reset button located on
the back of the unit, with the tip of
a pencil, then press the [ON] button.
