CONNECTING POWER
Using Batteries
You can power the system from four C batteries. For best performance, we recommend RadioShack alkaline bat­teries.
Follow these steps to install batteries in each speaker.
1. Lift the tab on the battery compart­ment cover in the dir ection of the arrow and remove the cover.
2. Install two C batteries as indicated by the polarity symbols ( + and –) in­side the compartment.
3. Replace the cover.
4. Repeat Steps 1–3 for the other speaker.

Caution:
To avoid damage to the sys­tem, remove the batterie s if you do not plan to use the speak ers for a month or more, or if you plan to use AC or DC power.
Using AC Power
You can power the speakers from a standard AC outlet with an AC adapter (not supplied), available at your local RadioShack store.

• Be sure you connect the adapt er as instructed, and disconnect the adapter from the AC outlet before you disconnect it from the system. Otherwise, the unconnected plug might touch some metal and dam­age the adapter.
Follow these steps to po wer the system from an AC outlet.
1. Insert the adapter's barrel plug i nto the system’s

jack.
2. Plug the adapter into a stan dard AC outlet.
Using an adapter that does not meet these specifications could seriously damage the system or the adapter.
• Be sure you connect th e adapter as instructed, and disconnect the adapter from the cigarette lighter be­fore you disconnect it from the sys­tem. Otherwise, the unconnected plug might touch some meta l in the vehicle and damage the adapter and/or the vehicle’s electrical sys­tem.
Follow these steps to pow er the system from your vehicle’s battery:
1. If necessary, set the adapter's volt­age switch to 9V.
2. Insert the adapte r’s barrel plug into the system’s

3. Plug the adapter’s large plug into the vehicle’s cigarette lighter socket.
Using Vehicle Battery Power
You can power the speakers from your vehicle's battery with a DC adapter (not supplied), available at your local Ra­dioShack store.
Cautions:
• Your vehicle must have a 12-volt DC, negative-ground electrical sys­tem.
• You must use a DC adapter that supplies 9 volts an d del iv er s at lea st 500 milliamps. Its c en ter ti p must be set to positive, and its plug must cor­rectly fit the system’s

OPERATION
Notes:
• Be sure the audio s ources power is off and its volume control is set to its minimum level.
• If the audio source is stereo, the speaker with th e built-in amplifier is the right speaker.
