Windows TCP/IP Network Installation

Complete these steps to install your printer on a
network:

1 Connect the Ethernet

Interface.

Note: No Ethernet cable is supplied with the printer.

Use an Ethernet cable with two twisted wire
pairs and an RJ45 plug.

□ Turn the printer off.
□ Remove the plug from the Ethernet port (1),

then connect your Ethernet cable to the port.

□ Connect the other end of the cable to the

network port.

□ Turn the printer on and wait for the print

server’s STATUS light (2) to stop blinking.

□ Press the TEST button (3) on the print server.

The Network Information configuration sheets
print. Keep these sheets handy: they contain
information you need to set up the printer on
your network.

Print the Menu Map

This will provide information on the printer’s IP
Address which is needed to set the printer up on
the network.

□ With the printer turned on, press +.
□ Press E

The MenuMap prints.

□ Look for the IP Address under TCP/IP

Run The Admin Mgr/Quick
Setup Utility

Use this utility to allow various computers on the
network access to the printer.

□ Insert the CD supplied with your printer in

the CD-ROM drive. The CD will autorun.
If it doesn’t, click {Start} → {Run} →

{Browse}. Browse to your CD-ROM drive,
double-click {Install.exe}, then click {OK}.

□ Select your language.
□ The License Agreement appears, click

{Next}.

□ The “Menu Installer” window appears. Click

{Custom Install}.

□ Click {Productivity Software}.
□ Click {Admin Mgr / Quick Setup}.
□ The “Setup Utility” window appears. Select

your language.

□ Click {OkiLAN 8100 SoftNic}.
□ The “Network Manual Install” wizard starts.
□ Follow the on-screen instructions to complete

the installation.

To open the manual, click
{Start} → {Programs} → {Okidata}.

Note: To view the OkiLAN 8100e Network

User’s Guide directly from the CD
without installing it on your system,
browse to OL8100SoftNic.pdf in the
root directory on the CD and double
click the file name.

Windows USB Local Installation

Complete these steps to install your printer through
the USB port:

1 Connect the USB Port.

Note: No USB interface cable is supplied with the

printer. Use a USB cable that is compatible
with USB specification 1.1 or 2.0.

• A USB interface will only operate using Windows
XP, Windows 2000, Windows Me and Windows 98.
Windows 95 and NT 4.0 do not support USB.

• Printer operation is not assured if another USB
compatible device is connected concurrently with
it.

• If a USB hub is used, it must be connected
directly to the computer.

□ Turn the printer off.
□ Connect the USB cable to the USB port on the

computer, then connect it to the black USB
port (1)—not the plugged Ethernet port!—on
the printer.

Windows XP and 2000

□ Make sure the USB cable is connected to your

printer and PC and your printer is turned
OFF.

□ Insert the CD supplied with your printer into

your CD-ROM drive. The CD will autorun.
If it doesn’t, click {Start} → {Run} →

{Browse}. Browse to your CD-ROM drive and
double-click {Install.exe}, then click {OK}.

□ Select your language.
□ The License Agreement appears. Click

{Next}.

□ Click {Custom Install} to install the printer

driver and software utilities. To install only
the printer driver, click {Minimal Install} and
skip the next step.

□ The “Software Installation” window appears.

Click {Driver Installer}.

□ Select {Local printer}. Click {Next}.
□ Select the USB port. Click {Next}.
□ The “Printer model and emulation” window

appears. Click {Next}. Printer drivers are
installed.

Note: Windows 2000 Only

Signature Not Found appears, click
Yes.

□ The “Connect cable” window appears. Follow

the on-screen instructions.

Note: Windows 2000 Only

Hardware appears and the installation
completes.

□ Click {Finish}.

Note: If you are planning to install utilities, leave the

Menu Installer open.

{Install.exe}, then click {OK}.)

□ Select your language.
□ The License Agreement appears. Click

{Next}.

□ Click {Custom Install} to install the printer

driver and software utilities. To install only
the printer driver, click {Minimal Install} and
skip the next step.

□ The “Software Installation” window appears.

Click {Driver Installer}.

□ Select “Local printer.” Click {Next}.
□ Select the USB port. Click {Next}.
□ The “Printer model and emulation” window

appears. Click {Next}. Printer drivers are
installed.

□ The “Connect cable” window appears. Follow

the on-screen instructions.

If you have not yet loaded the USB driver on your
system:

□ The “Add New Hardware” wizard displays.

Select “Specify the location of the driver.”
Click {Next}.

□ Select “Specify a location.” Clear

Removable media. Click {Browse}.

□ Scroll down and click on your CD-ROM

drive. Click {OK}.

□ Click {Next}.
□ Click {Next}. The USB driver is located.
□ Click {Finish}.

□ Click {Finish}.
□ If prompted to Restart your computer, click

{Finish}. If not and you are planning to
install utilities, leave the Menu Installer open.

3 Print a Test Page.

□ Click {Start} → {Settings} → {Printers}

[{Printers and Faxes} for Windows XP].

□ Right-click the new OKI printer icon.
□ Click {Properties}.
□ Click {Print Test Page}.
□ Click {Yes} to confirm printing of the test page,

then click {OK} and close the “Printers”
window.

4 Install the Utilities.

Color Printing Utilities

• Color Swatch Utility: Prints swatches of
color samples with RGB values. Enter the
corresponding RGB value in your software
application to print a color matching the
associated swatch.

• Color Correct Utility: Use to compensate
for nonlinear color characteristics of the
printer or the pages being printed. Gamma
curve adjustments can also be used to
change contrast and brightness.

5 Activate the Optional

Accessories.

If your printer has an optional duplex installed,
you must enter the driver and activate it.

□ Click {Start} → {Settings} →

{Printer(s)} ({Printers and Faxes} for XP).

□ Right click the printer icon.
□ Click {Properties}.
□ Click the {Device Option} tab.
□ Click {Duplex Unit}.
□ Click {OK} and close the “Printers” window.

□ If you restarted your computer, insert the CD

supplied with your printer in your CD-ROM
drive, then click {Next} and select your
language.

□ On the “Menu Installer” window, click

{Custom Install}.

□ The “Software Installation” window appears.

Click {Productivity Software}.

□ Click the appropriate utility button to initiate

the utility install process, then follow the
on-screen instructions.

□ When done, close the Menu Installer.
To access the utility programs from your

desktop, click
{Start} → {Programs} → {OkiData}.

Macintosh Installation: Connections

Network Connection

Note: For Mac OS 10.2 or above, and an EtherTalk

interface. The Ethernet cable is not supplied
with the printer. Use an Ethernet cable with
RJ45 connectors at either end.

□ Turn off the printer.
□ Connect your Ethernet cable to the network

port on the hub or switch.

□ Remove the plastic cap from the Ethernet

port (1) on the printer and connect the other
end of the cable to the port.

□ Turn on the printer and wait for the print

server status light (2) to stop blinking.

□ Press the Test button (3). The Network

Information configuration sheets print. Keep
these sheets handy: they contain information
you need to set up the printer on your
network.

USB Port Connection

Note: No USB interface cable is supplied with the

printer. Use a cable that is compatible with
USB specification 1.1 or 2.0.

• Printer operation is not assured if another USB
compatible device is connected concurrently with
it.

• If a USB hub is used and you encounter problems,
connect the printer directly to the computer.

• Depending upon the size of the document, if the
memory setting for the print monitor is low, you
may not be able to print in the background. To
correct for this, increase the memory setting for
the print monitor.

• Depending on the Macintosh model you have, you
may need to install updates to the operating
system in order to use USB: e.g., iMac Update

1.0, iMac Update 1.1, iMac Firmware Update, etc.
For further information, contact Apple Computers.

□ Turn off the computer and the printer.
□ Connect the USB cable to the USB port on the

computer.

□ Connect the other end of the cable to the

black USB Port (1)—not the plugged Ethernet
port!—on the printer.

Macintosh Installation: Software

Your printer includes drivers for Macintosh 10.2 and

10.3.

Install the Driver

Note: Be sure to switch off antivirus software before

installing a printer driver.

□ Turn on the printer, then turn on the computer.
□ Place the CD supplied with the printer in the

CD-ROM drive.

□ Double-click the CD icon that appears on the

desktop.

□ Open the MAC folder.
□ Open the DRIVERS folder.
□ Open the folder for your language.
□ Double-click the Mac Installer icon, then click

{Continue} and accept the License agreement.

□ Select “Easy Install.”
□ Click {Install}.
□ When the installation is complete, click {Quit}.

Adding the Printer

□ Mac 10.2:

Run the Print Center (Local HD →
{Applications} → {Utilities} → {Print
Center}).

Mac 10.3:
Run the Printer Setup Utility (Local HD →

{Applications} → {Utilities} → {Printer
Setup Utility}).

□ Click {Add}.
□ Select {OKI TCP/IP} from the drop-down

menu.

Note: If you are using USB, select OKI USB then

select your model from the list and click Add.
Disregard the following steps.

□ Enter the printer’s IP address.
□ From the “Model Name” drop down menu,

select the model for your printer.

□ Click {Add}.
□ Quit Print Center/Printer Setup Utility.

Note: Adobe® Acrobat® Reader 3.0 or higher is

required to view the manuals.

Two on-line manuals are provided on the CD
supplied with your printer:

• User’s Guide

Includes media recommendations, loading print
media, information on using the printer menu,

Includes information on color matching and on
using the printer’s features and utilities.

□ Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive.
□ Double-click the CD icon which appears on

the desktop.

□ Scroll to the 3200_UG_ae.pdf file in the

root directory.

□ Cliquez sur {Gestionnaire admin /

configuration rapide}.

□ La fenêtre « Connexion TCP/IP »

□ Observez les directives à l’écran pour

terminer l’installation

Une interface USB fonctionnera

2000, Windows Me et Windows 98.
Elle ne fonctionnera pas sous Windows
95 et NT 4.0.

avec l'imprimante dans l'unité de CD­ROM. Le CD est lancé automatiquement.
(Si le CD n'est pas lancé

localisé.

4 Installation des utilitaires.

couleur

• Utilitaire Color Swatch (Nuancier

de couleurs) : Offre un imprimé des
échantillons couleur avec les valeurs
RVB. Entrez la valeur RVB correspon­dante dans l'application utilisée pour
imprimer les couleurs concordant au
nuancier connexe.

• Utilitaire Color Correct (Correction

des couleurs) : Utilisé pour
compenser les caractéristiques de
couleur non linéaires de l'imprimante
ou des pages en impression. Le
réglage des courbes gamma peut
également être utilisé pour modifier le
contraste et la luminosité.

□ Si vous avez redémarré votre ordinateur,

placez le CD fourni avec l'imprimante
dans l'unité de CD-ROM. Cliquez sur
{Suivant} et sélectionnez la langue
d'installation.

□ La fenêtre « Installateur de menu »

s’affiche. Cliquez sur {Installation
personnalisée}.

□ La fenêtre « Installation des logiciels »

Installation sur Macintosh: Connexions

Connexion réseau

Remarque :

Nécessite Mac OS 10.2 ou supérieur,
tournant sur un ordinateur Macintosh
d'une interface EtherTalk. L’imprimante
n’est pas livrée avec un câble Ethernet.
Utilisez un câble Ethernet avec des
connecteurs RJ45 aux deux extrémités.

□

Éteignez l’imprimante.

□ Connectez le câble Ethernet au port

réseau du serveur d’impression ou du
concentrateur.

□ Retirez le dispositif de protection en

plastique du port Ethernet (1) de
l'imprimante. Connectez l’autre
extrémité du câble Ethernet au port
réseau.

□ Allumez l’imprimante et attendez que le

témoin d’état du serveur d’impression (
arrête de clignoter.

□

Appuyez sur le bouton TEST (3) sur le
serveur d’impression. Les feuilles de
configuration Network Information
(Informations réseau) s'impriment.
Conservez ces feuilles sous la main : elles
contiennent des informations dont vous
aurez besoin pour configurer l’imprimante

Selon le modèle que vous avez, il pourrait être
nécessaire d’installer des mises à jour au
système d’exploitation afin d’utiliser USB : p.
ex. iMac Update 1.0, iMac Update 1.1, iMac
Firmware Update, etc. Pour plus d’information,
communiquez avec Apple.

Votre imprimante comprend les pilotes pour
les systèmes d’exploitation Macintosh 10.2 et

10.3.

Installation du pilote

Note : Veillez à désactiver tout logiciel antivirus

avant d’installer un pilote d’imprimante.

□ Allumez l’imprimante, puis allumez

l’ordinateur.

□ Placez le CD fourni avec l'imprimante dans

l'unité de CD-ROM.

□ Double-cliquez sur l’icône de CD qui est

affiché sur le Bureau.

□ Ouvrez le dossier « MAC ».
□ Ouvrez le dossier « DRIVERS ».
□ Ouvrez le dossier de votre langue.
□ Double-cliquez sur l'icône MAC Installer

(Installateur MAC), puis cliquez sur
{Continue} (Continuer) et acceptez le
contrat de licence.

□ Sélectionnez Easy Install (Installation
