Power Specifications
The NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 X2 graphics board is a performance optimized high-end board. Power is
taken from the PCI Express host bus and the auxiliary power connector. Without auxiliary power the NVIDIA
Quadro FX 4500 X2 graphics board will run in emergency power mode with very low speed to be compliant
with PCI Express specification of 75 W maximum via on port GPU_SLOW. For full performance, an external
PCI Express power connector must be attached giving an additional 75 W through the 6-pin power
connectors. The total input power will be 150 W maximum. A power supply 400 Watts or higher with a 12V
Current rating of 27A is recommended.

NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 X2G by PNY
Part No. VCQFX4500X2G-PCIE-PB
The NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 X2G delivers framelock/genlock functionality to unprecedented levels of industrial
realism, visualization and collaborative capabilities. The NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 X2G provides features for
advanced multisystem visualization and multi-device film and video environments. The NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500
X2G supports framelock, genlock, and synchronized frame buffer swap and refre sh rate.
The NVIDIA Quadro G-Sync board is designed to fit into any available expansion slot within 6 inches of the
NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 X2 connector. The G-sync derives all data and power directly from the NVIDIA Quadro
FX 4500 X2 graphic board.
Frame lock allows the display channels from multiple workstations to be synchronized, thus creating one large
"virtual display" that can be driven by a multisystem cluster for performance scalability.
Genlock allows the graphics output to be synchronized to an external source, typically for film and broadcast
video applications.
NVIDIA FX 4500 X2G by PNY working with four DVI monitor displays
The NVIDIA FX 4500 X2 G by PNY will synchronize 4 DVI provided they are all in the same display mode, which
means the same resolution and refresh rate on the same monitor.
If all 4 DVI displays are not the same mode on the same monitor then the following configuration setup applies:
1) The display chosen on the FX 4500 X2 graphic board connected to the primary socket on the G-sync card will
drive the sync or be synchronized to an external source.
2) If the second display on the FX 4500 X2 graphic board connected to the primary socket on the G-sync is a
different display mode (analog is different to digital even at the same resolution) then the second display cannot
be synchronized.
3) If the second display on the FX 4500 X2 graphic board connected to the primary socket on the G-sync is
exactly the same refresh rate and resolution on the same type of monitor and both are analog or both are di gital
then the second display will also be synchronized.
NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 X2 by PNY User’s Guide 8
Ver.2.0 10.09.06
4) A display on the FX 4500 X2 graphic board connected to the secondary socket on the G-sync card can b e
synchronized to the timing server display, even if its is different resolution but has to be the same frame rate and it
also doesn't need to be the same as the timing server in terms of analog or digital.
5) If a second display is connected to the FX 4500 X2 graphic board secondary socket on the G-sync card then
that display must match exactly the first display on the FX 4500 X2 graphic board connected to the secondary
socket on the G-sync card in terms of resolution refresh rate, monitor type and analog or digital in order to be
synchronized. If it doesn't match the first display exactly it won't be synchronized. Only one G-sync card connects
to the FX 4500 X2. Do not use two G-sync cards for one FX 4500 X2.
