Series 40 Quick Start Guide
The Nokia Series 40 phones have an in-built Push To Talk (PTT) client that your PTT service utilises.
This enables you to hold one-to-one and one-to-many conversations at a push of a button.
The screens in this guide are the standard Nokia Series 40 screens, your screens may vary slightly depending on your handset model.
Setting up Push to Talk for
the first time
1. Firstly, ensure that your handset has been fully charged and your SIM
has been activated with your PTT service and is inserted.
2. To set up PTT on your device you will receive a text message, follow the
below instructions:
Press ‘Show’
Press ‘Save’
Your phone will now return to the standby screen. Scroll through your main ‘Menu’, a ‘Push to Talk’ screen will appear.
This is now configured to your PTT service.
Setting up User Groups
This is done by accepting text invitations for the required user groups that are sent to you from the provisioning system.

You need to state whether this is to be your main group or a secondary group. Select the option from below screen that meets your requirements for this group:
Scroll to required option and press ‘Select’
Default (or Active) = You will automatically broadcast to this group when
you press the PTT button and all calls will be broadcast to you.
Listened = You will ‘Listen’ into calls to this channel, but you
will need to manually select it to talk to this group.
Inactive = You will not hear any conversations from this group.
Press ‘Save’
