1 Product overview
FlashCase is a lightweight mobile transport enclosure for the Flashlink range of products. FlashCase houses all Flashlink optical transport, signal processing and distribution cards to a maximum of five cards.
Its rugged design and connector panel makes it the ideal choice for all mobile and outside broadcast applications.
Then needed WDM/CWDM have an internal position and will not occupy a card position. Use the CWDM option to meet the high specifications needed for optical handling.
In order to do a maximum customer needs possible the frame have five different standard backplane configurations. This configuration’s is labeled MOD 1 to 5. In these packages, all needed internal cables and connectors for Audio, Communication, Ethernet, Fiber and Video is included.
For customers who need to make their own backplane, there is a MOD 0 with all internal mechanics and a PDF drawing with the basic holes for mounting and power. Then a more specialized design is needed, just contact Nevion for the right price information to your design.
In all packages internal power regulator and power connectors are included. Options:
CWDM 1-8 for FlashCase
AC Power supplies for indoor use
Battery holder. This plate is pre-holed for most common battery holders.

2 Internal parts
FlashCase is internally a five positions Flashlink frame for standard Flashlink cards and backplane. Any combination and any position of cards can be used to a maximum of five cards.
One limitation: L-Band cards are not designed to be used in FlashCase.
Connection from Flashlink backplanes to FlashCase backplane is with internal cabling. This makes it possible to meet different configuration for the cards. On FlashCase backplane standard broadcast connector is used.
When a D422-MG card is used a new version of the backplane is needed, D422-MG-C3. This backplane is needed for a full flexible configuration for all com ports and GPI ports. The base for internal cabling is on Molex connectors.

6.3 Install card or change card configurat ion
To install new cards or change of card setup the Flashlink back plane in the frame needs to be mounted to the card holder in the frame.
The easiest procedure for this is to remove the Flashlink backplanes from the FlashCase MOD with the four screws attaching aluminum barrels to brass pins.
After this removing the four screws, all connectors and mounting screws for the Flashlink backplanes are easy to reach.
