XPRESSBUILDER
Operatin g System" fro m the Custom Setu p Menu;
use the "Creation of Support FD" option. Select
Creation of Support FD and ch oose the appropriate
LAN drivers for your system. For the Secu RAID 530
(Mylex AcceleRAID 1100), choose the Mylex optio n.
The following advisory applies when using Windows
NT:
When installing Windows NT 4.0, the floppy diskette
install procedure must be used if your system is
config ured to use the AIC7895 SCSI and the
SecuRAID 530 (M ylex Acc eleRAID 1100) con trollers.
During the Win dows NT installation process, the
following system message is d isplayed:

Setup automatically detects floppy disk
controllers….. To continue, press ENTER. Setup
will attempt to detect mass storage devices in your
computer (auto-detection). To skip mass storage
device detection, press S. Setup will allow you to
manually select SCSI adapters, CD ROM drives
and disk controllers for installation.
When this messag e is displayed, press the "S" ke y to
skip auto-detection. Setup will allow you to
manually select SCSI adapters, CD-ROM drives and
special disk contro llers for installation.
OS/2
Press the "S" to allo w you to se lect the
manufactu rer's dr iver diske ttes to be used du ring
the installation. Place the appr opriate driv er
diskette(S) in to the diskette dr ive.
SecuRAID 530 an d AIC7895 driver diskettes are
created usin g the E
The following advisory applies to OS/2 WARP 3.x, 4.0,
or SMP:
Use the following procedure for a first time
installation of O S/2 WARP 3.x, 4. 0, or SMP fr om
CD-ROM.
1. Use Diskcop y to make backu p copies of all I BM
OS/2 diskette s. Use backu p diskettes as you r
workin g diskettes.

NOTE: In the ne xt step, delete ad apter driver
files only if the cor responding adapter is not
installed in your system.
2. Delete some of the existing driver files on the
backup c opy of the O S/2 diskette #1 so th at
approximately 140KB of disk spac e is available.
3. Copy the AIC7870. add driver f rom the Adaptec
7800 Family Manag er Set diskette for OS/2 on to
OS/2 diskette #1.
4. For each driver remov ed from the OS/2 diskette
#1, in step 2 abov e, "rem" ou t the corr esponding
line in the Config.sys file on OS/2 diskette #1.
5. In the Config.sys file on OS/2 diskette #1, add
the line "set copyfromfloppy=1". This line is
added so that the install proce ss copies the
AIC7870.add driv er from th e OS/2 diskette #1
rather than the driver included with your OS/2
CD-ROM.

6. Run the OS/2 installation program, following the
instruction s in your O S/2 documentation , until
the System Configuration Window is displayed.
7. In the System Configuration Window, click the
SCSI Adapter Sup port icon .
8. Deselect any highlighted adapters, including all
Adaptec adapters, and click OK. The text box for
SCSI Adapter Supp ort should r ead "None".
NOTE: If the SCSI adap ters are not d eselected,
the driver inc luded on the CD-ROM will be
copied over the driver being installed.
9. Follow the instructions in your OS/2
documentatio n to complete th e installation.
10. When the in stallation is complete, and the
system reboots; should you get the following
error : "System can not operate you har d disk"
take the follow ing action :
a. Reboot the system using the OS/2 Installation
diskettes.
b. Press F3, when prompted, to get to a
command pr ompt.
c. Use the OS/2, or DOS text editor (as
appropriate) to edit the Config .sys file, an d
ensure that:
a. The statement "base dev=aic7870.add " is
present.
b. The aic7870.add driver is pr esent in
C:\OS2 and C: \OS2\BOOT.
