Calibration Procedure
The calibration procedure for the Echo-screen OAE, DPOAE, and the ABR
configuration is a 2-step procedure.
The first step: The probe and/or ABR cable is calibrated by replacing the probe with a
new cable and discarding the old. The installation and first use of this new cable onto
the system will effectively update the cable calibration date within the software of the
Echo-screener.
The probe calibration status is confirmed by attaching the probe cable. From the main
menu, select "Options” > “Self Test” > “Probe test" The display will inform of the probe
serial number, and one year from the date of its first use. The next Calibration will be
due at this displayed date.
Second step: The base unit calibration is performed as needed. The calibration status
is checked annually with the use of a cable component called the "Loop cable.” This
cable can be rented from Natus. The Loop cable is attached to the Echoscreen, via the
ABR cable socket, and the Ear probe cable ports. From the main menu, select "Options”
> “Self Test” > “Probe test" > “OK.” The system should display “Passed” for each of the
measuring parameters. If any of the parameters “Fail” the system will need to be
returned to Natus for Service and recalibration.
The base unit calibration status is confirmed by the following. From the main menu,
select "Options” > “SW/HW information” > “OK." This display will inform of the last unit
“Calibration,” and the (Next) scheduled, “Loop cable calibration check.
