Description
The Olympic Warmette is a large-capacity, free-standing warming cabinet. It is available in two sizes with the option of convenient see-through doors on the front and back for either size.
The Warmette has a fully-enclosed, recirculating air system that warms blankets and bottles quickly and uniformly. Forced-air distributes heat evenly throughout the entire cabinet, so supplies are heated rapidly no matter where they are placed. Mesh shelves allow air to move under and around supplies.

6 Connect an amp probe to the number 1 (hot) wire near the fuse holder. The
amperage reading should be approximately 14.0A for 120V~ or 8A for 220V~.
Interior parts of the cabinet and heating components such as the plenum may become hot.
7 Block the airflow from the blower into the plenum by placing the metal plate
between the blower and the plenum gasket (see Figure 4.3 on page 4-5).
You may need to loosen the acorn nuts to place the metal plate. The acorn nuts should be reattached before the test to assure that air is not circulating to the heaters.
Figure 4.3

8 In approximately 5–10 minutes the thermal cut-out will open and the amperage
reading should drop to approximately 1 amp, indicating that power to the heaters has been interrupted.
9 Remove the metal plate.
10 Wait 20 minutes for the plenum to cool, and then press the reset button on the
thermal cut-out. The amperage reading should return to the previous value from step 6 above.
11 If the thermal cut-out does not function as described above, replace it (see
Replacing the Thermal Cut-out on page 6-11).
12 Repeat steps 1–9 for the second thermal cut-out on Model 55/56 Warmettes.
13 Reinstall the front panel.

Section
6
This section includes procedures for servicing the Olympic Warmette Models 48/49 and 55/56.
Only qualified technicians should perform the service procedures.
Electrical shock hazard when the enclosure is open. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet before servicing the Warmette.
In this section, the illustrations depict either the Model 48/49 or the Model 55/56.
Follow the appropriate instructions when servicing your Model 48, 49, 55, or 56.
The Warmette Models 48 and 55 have clear doors on the front (see Figure 1.1 on
page 1-3). The Models 49 and 56 have an additional set of doors on the back side. The Models 48/49 and 55/56 are serviced in the same manner unless otherwise noted.

Servicing the Warmette

If your Warmette should become damaged, replacement parts are available. To order a part, see
Ordering Information on page 7-1.

Repair Policy

Do not use malfunctioning equipment. To promote product reliability, a qualified technician should perform the replacement and service procedures described in this section. Before servicing your equipment, check your equipment warranty status, check the normal repair procedures for your facility, and determine the appropriate repair procedure to perform.
To ensure performance to factory specifications, Natus Medical recommends that all replacement parts be those either manufactured or sold by Natus Medical. After all repair actions and tests are complete, perform the pre-operative test procedure in this manual (see published specifications.

Temperature Measurement

Each Olympic Warmette is factory tested to ensure that it meets heating and safety specifications.
The interior temperature of the device may vary significantly due to factors such as placement, number of objects, and airflow around the objects. To ensure that the Warmette is heating as specified, perform the following procedure.
Required Items:
An accurate thermometer capable of reading temperature ranges of 32–170°F
(0–77°C)
To verify the accuracy of any thermometer, you can measure the temperature of ice water (32°F or 0°C).
A standard one-liter bottle (glass or plastic) filled with water or saline solution
To confirm the warming chamber temperature at 120°F (48.8°C):
1 Plug in the power cord, then press the power switch to the
2 Push in and rotate the thermostat knob to 120°F (48.8°C).
Before continuing, ensure that the inside surfaces are cool to the touch. Hot surfaces inside the device cause a potential burn hazard.
Placing the bottle in an incorrect position will adversely affect the accuracy of the test.
3 Place the full one-liter plastic bottles on the top shelf.
4 Allow the Warmette to operate undisturbed for a minimum of eight (8) hours.
5 After the operating period, measure the temperature of the solution in the bottle.

If the temperature measures between 110–130°F (43.3–54.4°C), the Warmette is heating to within operating specifications.

6 Remove and discard the thermostat label.
7 Remove the two mounting screws on the front of the thermostat (see Figure 6.1
on page 6-4).
8 Remove the temperature probe bulb from the plenum:
a Remove the front panel (see Replacing the Blower on page 6-9).
b Unhook and remove the plenum hold-down spring and bridge (see
Figure 6.5 on page 6-10). Separate the plenum from the casing.
c The temperature probe bulb is located inside the plenum. It is held by nylon
tie-wrap to the grille in the bottom of the plenum. With a pencil, trace around the perimeter of the bulb. Cut the nylon tie and feed the temperature probe bulb through the hole in back of the plenum and out through the front panel opening.
The correct probe bulb position is important to the proper temperature regulation.
d Pull the thermostat and probe out of the Warmette cabinet (see Figure 6.1 on
page 6-4).
Avoid kinking or flexing the capillary (small copper) tube of the new controller, especially where it joins the thermostat.
e Disconnect the wires from the top of the thermostat, then remove the old
thermostat (see Figure 6.2 on page 6-5).
To reassemble the Warmette:
1 Feed the temperature probe through the front panel opening, and through the
hole in the back of the plenum. Secure the probe bulb to the grille in the same location as the old bulb using a nylon tie wrap.
2 Connect the thermostat wires to the new thermostat.
3 Hold the assembly spacer in position and insert the shaft of the new thermostat
into the opening from the back of the panel (see Figure 6.2 on page 6-5)
Avoid dropping the spacer inside the wall cavity of the Warmette cabinet during removal or reassembly. If the spacer falls inside the wall, simply remove the lint filters to retrieve it (see Figure 4.2 on page 4-3).
4 Install and tighten the two mounting screws (see Figure 6.1 on page 6-4).
5 Remove any label adhesive residue from the device. Discard the old label.
6 Remove and discard the backing from the new thermostat label, then press the
new label gently into place.
7 Ensure that the thermostat shaft is rotated fully counterclockwise and then
replace the control knob, making sure it is aligned with the 90° mark.
