GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The GEM-TEMP64 is an indoor/outdoor remote temperature sensor designed for use with the Napco GEM-P1664 control panel and the GEM-RP1CAe2 / GEM-K1CA keypads. The GEM-TEMP64 consists of the sensor module, which is fully encapsulated in weather resistant potting, and a snap-on durable plastic mounting plate. The GEM-TEMP64 temperature sensor provides potted electronics, digital accuracy, low power consumption and durability all in a small, easy to install package. Current Draw: 10mA.

MOUNTING THE GEM-TEMP64
Before mounting the temperature sensor, always plan ahead and determine the route all wires will follow before drilling into wall mounting surfaces. Install the GEM-TEMP64 as follows:
Determine mounting location. Using the template (page 3)
and a pencil, lightly mark the location of the two mounting holes and the wire feed hole. Mounting location should not exceed 300 feet from the control panel.
Route the Sensor Wires. Three wires are needed to con-
nect the GEM-TEMP64 to the control panel. Use #18 AWG gauge wire or larger at a maximum distance of 300 feet from the control panel. Plan the wire run carefully and determine how these wires will be accessed from behind the mounting location.
Drill wire feed hole. The Rear Module Cover (see Fig. 1,
above) contains two wire feed holes: A pre-drilled rear hole (A) and a side hole (B) that is opened by removing the tab with pliers or similar tool, of used. Minimum size for the wire feed holes is 1/8", but can be made larger if necessary. Note: If using the rear wire feed hole, do not exceed a diameter that can be concealed by the GEMTEMP64 module. The diameter of the feed hole should not exceed 1/2" and should be made as small as possible. Warning: Use caution when drilling holes--there may be

high voltage wiring in wall.
Install the Mounting Plate using two #4 mounting screws
(supplied). Use hardware such as molly bolts, toggle bolts or other anchoring devices. Drill the smallest hole needed for the device. Warning: Use caution when drilling holes-
-there may be high voltage wiring in wall.
Install the Rear Module Cover by sliding the rear cover onto
the mounting plate until it clicks in place. To remove, press in the securing tab and lift cover from mounting plate.
Route the module wires from behind the mounting location
through the wire feed hole and through the rear module cover. Splices can be made and concealed within the module or made outside the module and pushed back into wall. Use care not to damage the wiring or the mounting surface. Seal holes with solicoln to prevent moisture from entering wall.
Install module. Place the GEM-TEMP64 temperature mod-
ule over the mounting base and snap on to secure.
Connect the module wires to the control panel as detailed
in Table 1, below. Note: Do not apply power until all wiring is complete.

PROGRAMMING THE GEM-P1664 PANEL
See WI1386 for complete programming information for the GEM-P1664 control panel.
Three addresses must be enabled (either via Quickloader or via direct address programming) in order for the temperature to be displayed instead of the date on line 2 of the GEM-RP1CAe2 (or GEM-K1CA) keypad. enable the following addresses In PCDWindows Quickloader software or in direct address programming via the keypad:
1. Keypad Assignment, Temperature Settings tab, Enable Temperature Display (Address 1668, press option 1)
2. Keypad Assignment, Keypad Features tab, Enable Key- pad Time/Date Display (Address 1420, press option 7)
3. Keypad Assignment, Keypad Features tab, Enable Set
Time/Date Message (Address 2051, press option 1)
Note: If these three addresses are set and power (AC and bat-
tery) are subsequently removed, they keypad will indicate that the time and date are lost and will need to be reset. See next page for PCD-Windows Quickloader screen image.
