2 Übersicht

2.1 Über dasProdukt

Der MEGA ePower 1000HD (hierunter auch als „das Gerät“ bezeichnet) bietet
Hochgeschwindigkeits-Breitbandübertragung für Sprach- Video- und
Datenübertragung durch die Stromleitung. Das Gerät ist in zahlreichen Privat- und
Geschäftsnetzwerken (Büros, Appartments, Hotels, Auslieferungslagern)
anwendbar und erfordert keine Verkabelung.
Vor der Benutzung des Geräts sollten Sie die Bedienungsanleitung sorgfältig lesen
und sich mit den Funktionen des Geräts vertraut machen. Durch Lesen der
Bedienungsanleitung erfahren Sie, wie das Powerline Programm installiert wird
und wie die Tasten auf der Benutzerschnittstelle verwendet werden. Die
Bedienungsanleitung hilft weiterhin bei der Behebung von häufiger auftretenden
Problemen.

2.3 Sicherheitsvorkehrungen

Dieses Gerät dient zum Anschluss an eine Netzleitung. Vor der Benutzung des
Geräts sollten Sie die Bedienungsanleitung sorgfältig lesen und sich mit der
korrekten und sicheren Bedienung vertraut machen. Für Hinweise zur Installation
lesen Sie bitte die Installationsbeschreibung in der Bedienungsanleitung.

Befolgen Sie alle Warnungen und Anleitungen auf dem Produkt.
Vor der Reinigung des Geräts ziehen Sie den Netzstecker aus der

Wandsteckdose. Verwenden Sie zur Reinigung ein trockenes Tuch.
Verwenden Sie keine flüssigen Reinigungsmittel oder Sprays.

Platzieren Sie das Gerät nicht in der Nähe von Wasser.
Platzieren Sie das Gerät nicht neben oder auf einer Heizung oder

Wärmequelle.

Benutzen Sie kein Verlängerungskabel zwischen dem Gerät und der

Netzstromversorgung.

Das Gerät sollte nur von qualifizierten Technikern gewartet werden. Das

Öffnen oder Entfernen der Abdeckungen kann zur Freisetzung von
gefährlichen Spannungen oder anderen Risiken führen.

Ziehen Sie den Gerätestecker zur Wandsteckdose ab und wenden sich an

einen professionellen Kundendienst, wenn folgende Zustände vorliegen:

– Wenn Flüssigkeit in das Produkt gelaufen ist.
– Wenn das Gerät Regen oder Wasser ausgesetzt wurde.
– Wenn das Gerät nicht normal funktioniert, obwohl die Betriebsanleitung

beachtet wurde.

– Wenn das Gerät eine auffällige Leistungsänderung zeigt.

Das Produkt kann nur vertikal, nicht horizontal, eingesteckt werden.

3 Systemanforderungen

4 Hardware-Beschreibung

4.1 Ethernetschnittstelle

Ein Ende der Ethernetschnittstelle wird zum Anschliessen des Ethernetkabels
verwendet und das andere Ende wird an die Schnittstelle des Netzwerkadapters
eines Computers oder eines anderen Ethernetgeräts benutzt.

4.2 Schaltknöpfe

Reset: Drücken Sie den Knopf länger als 10 Sekunden, um die

Werkseinstellungen wiederherzustellen.

Security: Hier wird der Status der Gerätemitglieder eingestellt. Es können

Geräte zum vorhandenen Netzwerk hinzugefügt oder Geräte vom
vorhandenen Netzwerk entfernt werden. Sie können den Status der
Security Anzeige beobachten, um über den Prozess und das Ergebnis
informiert zu sein.

Hinzufügen

Nehmen wir beispielsweise ein vorhandenes Netzwerk mit den Geräten A und B,
welche dasselbe Netzwerk teilen und Gerät C soll dem Netzwerk hinzugefügt
werden. Zum Hinzufügen von Gerät C zum Netzwerk gehen Sie wie folgt vor:

Hinweis:

Geräte, die denselben Netzwerkschlüssel teilen, sind im selben Netzwerk.

(1) Drücken Sie den Knopf am Gerät C für 1-3 Sekunden.
(2) Drücken Sie den Knopf für 1-3 Sekunden an einem Gerät im vorhandenen

Netzwerk (entweder Gerät A oder B)..

(3) Warten Sie, bis die Verbindung vollständig ist. Während des Vorgangs

blinken die Power Anzeigen am Gerät C in grün auf.

Entfernen

Nehmen wir beispielsweise ein vorhandenes Netzwerk mit den Geräten A, B und C,
wobei Gerät C vom Netzwerk entfernt werden soll. Zum Entfernen von Gerät C
vom Netzwerk gehen Sie wie folgt vor:
(1) Drücken Sie den Knopf am Gerät C für mehr als 10 Sekunden. Ein zufälliger

Netzwerkschlüssel, der vom Original abweicht, wird generiert.

(2) Nach dem erneuten Hochfahren ist das Gerät nicht mehr im Netzwerk

vorhanden.

Standby: Drücken Sie den Knopf länger als 3 Sekunden, um zwischen dem

Arbeitsmodus und dem Bereitschaftsmodus (Standby) umzuschalten..

4.3 LED-Anzeigen

Am vorderen Bedienfeld sind drei LED-Anzeigen vorhanden, die den Gerätestatus
anzeigen.

5 Installation des Powerline Utility

Das Powerline Utility ist ein Konfigurationsverwaltungsprogramm für GGL541
Chip-Geräte basierend auf HomePlugAV und Mediaxtream

TM

. Das Programm kann
alle Geräte scannen und nachverfolgen, die mit dem Netzwerk kommunizieren
können.
Vor der Installation des Dienstprogramms deinstallieren Sie bitte frühere Powerline
Utility Versionen, die bereits auf dem Computer installiert sind.

Damit Powerline Utility korrekt läuft, muss WinPcap installiert sein. Für Details
besuchen Sie bitte: http://www.winpcap.org

.
Legen Sie die CD in das CD-Laufwerk ein. Folgende Dateien der CD werden wie
folgt angezeigt:

Hinweis:

Die Lizenzvereinbarung von WinPcap muss akzeptiert werden.

5.1 Installieren von WinPcap

Doppelklicken Sie auf Setup.exe, um die Installation von Powerline Utility zu
starten. Wenn kein WinPcap auf dem Computer installiert ist, wird das auf der CD
vorhandene WinPcap automatisch installiert, bevor Powerline Utility installiert wird.

Wenn bereits eine frühere WinPcap Version auf dem Computer installiert ist, wird
eine Aufforderung zur Deinstallation der älteren Version, wie z.B. WinPcap 4.0.2,
angezeigt, wenn Sie versuchen, WinPcap zu installieren. Siehe folgende Abb.

5.2 Installation des Powerline Utility

Wenn bereits die neueste Version von WinPcap auf dem Computer installiert ist,
wird WinPcan bei der Installation des Powerline Utility nicht erneut installiert.
Folgen Sie dem Installationsassistenten (Wizard) zur Installation von Powerline
Utility.

Wenn Sie auf der Seite mit der Anzeige der Lizenzvereinbarung das Feld „ich
lehne die Vereinbarung ab” markieren, bricht das Installationsprogramm ab und
das Powerline Utility wird nicht installiert. Wenn Sie das Feld „ich akzeptiere die

Vereinbarung“ markieren, wird die Installation fortgesetzt und die Seite „Zielort
wählen“ erscheint. Siehe folgende Abb.

Der standardmäßige Installationspfad für Powerline Utility lautet C:\Program
Files\MSI PLC Utility. Sie können Durchsuchen anklicken, um einen anderen
Installationspfad zu wählen. Danach klicken Sie auf Weiter, um den Ordner im
Start Menü einzurichten. Siehe folgende Abb.

Wenn das Kästchen " Desktop-Symbol erstellen” markiert wird, wird ein
Kurztasten-Symbol auf dem Desktop generiert.

Wenn Sie das Kästchen „MSI PLC Utility starten“ markieren, startet Powerline
Utility nach der erfolgreichen Installation automatisch. Sie können ebenfalls auf

das Kurztastensymbol auf dem Desktop doppelklicken, um das Programm zu
starten.

6 Benutzerschnittstelle

6.1 Main Registerkarte (Hauptregister)

Die Main Registerkarte unter Powerline Utility zeigt die Informationen der lokalen
und authentifizierten externen Geräte in einem Powerline Netzwerk an, wie z. B.
Namen, Passwort, MAC Adresse und Frequenz und Netzwerk-Passwort eines
externen Geräts.
Der obere Abschnitt zeigt die Informationen des Geräts an, das mit dem
Netzwerkadapter des lokalen Computers verbunden ist. Üblicherweise wird nur ein
Gerät erkannt.

Wenn der Computer mehr als eine Netzwerkadapterschnittstelle hat, können
mehrere Geräte erkannt werden.

Wählen Sie ein lokales Gerät und klicken auf „Connect“ (verbinden) auf der
rechten Seite. Der untere Abschnitt zeigt die Informationen der externen Geräte an,
die mit dem lokalen Gerät verbunden sind. Wenn kein externes Gerät erkannt wird,
erscheint die Anzeige „0 device(s) found“ (0 Gerät(e) gefunden).
Die folgende Tabelle beschreibt die Informationen der externen Geräte:

die Übertragungsrate an und Rx zeigt die Empfangsrate an.
MX Rate(Tx/Rx) Physikalische Verbindungsrate von Mediaxtream.

Authenticate

Zeigt an, ob das externe Gerät erfolgreich authentfiziert

wurde und ob es kommunikationsbereit ist.

Hinweis:

Der Gerätename oder das NPW können nicht
erfolgreich geändert werden, solange das Gerät nicht
erfolgreich authentfiziert wurde.

Rename (Umbenennen): Klicken sie auf eine Eingabe unter Device Name,

um ein Gerät auszuwählen und klicken Sie dann auf Rename. Im
angezeigten Fenster können Sie dann den Gerätenamen ändern. Siehe
folgende Abb.

Enter Password (Passwort eingeben): Wenn das externe Gerät nicht

erfolgreich authenitifiziert wird, erscheint die Anzeige „fehlgeschlager“ im
Feld „Authenticate“ unter Abb. 17. Klicken Sie in diesem Fall auf das
Schaltfeld und geben das Geräte-Passwort erneut in das angezeigte
Fenster zur Authentifizierung ein. Für die Authentifizierung können zwei
Passwörter verwendet werden. Eines davon ist auf dem Etikett des
Powerline Geräts aufgedruckt und enthält vier Ziffern in einer Gruppe, das
andere ist das standardmäßige Passwort. Dies ist unser Geräte-Passwort,
das an einen Peer-STA gegeben wird. Wenn die Authentifizierung mit dem
voreingestellten Passwort fehlschlägt, verwenden Sie das Passwort auf dem
Etikett und versuchen es erneut. In Abb. 17 schlägt das externe Gerät

(MAC:00:B0:52:00:00:A5) bei der ersten Authentifizierung fehl. Klicken Sie
auf „Enter Password“, um das Passwort einzugeben und versuchen Sie
danach eine erneute Authentifizierung. Wenn das voreingestellte Passwort
nicht funktioniert, versuchen Sie das Passwort, das sich auf dem Etikett auf
der Geräterückseite befindet. Siehe folgende Abb.

Der obere Anzeigenbereich zeigt die MAC Adresse des Geräts an. Wenn die
Authentifizierung fehlschlägt, erscheint folgendes Dialogfeld:

Change NPW (NPW ändern): Sie können auf das Schaltfeld klicken und das

Netzwerk-Passwort (NPW) des Geräts im angezeigten Fenster ändern. Mit
diesen Schaltfeld können Gerät vom vorhandenen Netzwerk und von einem
neuen, privaten Netzwerk entfernt werden.
Alle Geräte haben ein voreingestelltes NPW, das üblicherweise
HomePlugAV lautet und im Werk bei der Produktion eingestellt wird. Das
bedeutet, dass alle Geräte in selben Netzwerk sind. Wenn das NPW für ein
Gerät geändert wird, gehört das Gerät nicht länger zum Netzwerk und seine
Informationen werden nicht mehr im unteren Fensterbereich, wie unter Abb.
17 gezeigt, dargestellt. Als Beispiel wird in der folgenden Abbildung das
NPW des externen Geräte, das als 1 erscheint, auf 12345678 geändert.

Nach Änderung des NPW wird die Main Registerkarte wie folgt angezeigt:

Da das Gerät jetzt ein anderes NPW als die standardmäßig eingestellten
Geräte im vorhandenen Powerline Netzwerk hat, wird das Gerät vom
Netzwerk entfernt und wird nicht mehr unter dem Bereich für die
Informationen der externen Geräte, wie unter Abb. 23 gezeigt, dargestellt.

Change Local NPW (lokales NPW ändern): Sie können auf das Schaltfeld

klicken und das Netzwerk-Passwort (NPW) des lokalen Geräts öndern, um
ein Gerät zum vorhandenen Netzwerk hinzuzufügen. Wenn das NPW für
das lokale Gerät geändert wird, werden die Informationen zum externen
Gerät im unteren Fensterbereich, wie unter Abb. 17 gezeigt, nicht dargestellt,
weil das externe Gerät ein anderes NPW als das lokale Gerät hat. Nur

Geräte mit demselben NPW wie das lokale Gerät werden unter den
Informationen zu externen Geräten, wie unter Abb. 17 gezeigt, dargestellt.
Wenn Sie das Gerät erneut zum Netzwerk hinzufügen möchten, wählen Sie
das Gerät als lokal aus und klicken auf Change Local NPW, um dessen
NPW auf HomePlugAV zu ändern Wenn Sie z. B. 1 (00:1F:84:00:00:03)
erneut zum vorhandenen Neztwerk hinzufügen möchten, setzen Sie das
Gerät auf lokal und ändern dessen NPW auf dasselbe Passwort wie das der
Geräte unter dem Netzwerk.

Scan (Scannen): Diese Funktion wird zur Erkennung aller Gerät im

Netzwerk verwendet. Standardmäßig scannt das Powerline Utility einmal in
der Minute, um die Geräteinformationen zu aktualisieren.

Upgrade Firmware (Firmware aktualisieren): Sie können auf das Schaltfeld

klicken, um die Firmware des Geräts zu aktualisieren. Beachten Sie, dass
das Gerät vor dem Aktualisieren authentifiziert werden muss. Sie können
Browse anklicken und die bin_upgrade, fw_upgrade, paramconfig
Dateien auswählen, um die Firmware zu aktualisieren.

Vorsicht:

Der Aktualisierungsvorgang kann einige Minuten dauern. Klicken Sie nicht
auf Close (schließen) oder Cancel (abbrechen), während der Prozess im
Gange ist. Andernfalls kann eine Fehlermeldung angezeigt werden.

6.2 Information Registerkarte

Das Register Information zeigt die Systeminformationen und die
Versionsinformationen der Firmware an, einschließlich folgender Daten:

MAC Adresse des lokalen Netzwerkadapters des Computers
MAC Adresse des lokalen Geräts, das an den Computer angeschlossen ist
Netzwerkname (also NPW) des lokalen Geräts
Name des Herstellers
Softwareversion
Firmware-Informationen (wie z.B. Erstellungsdatum und SVN Datum)

2 Overview

2.1 About the Product

The MEGA ePower 1000HD (also referred to as “the device” hereinafter) can
provide high speed broadband service for transmitting voice, video, and data,
through powerline. It is applicable in a wide range of both residential and
commercial (offices, apartments, hotels, warehouses) networks and no cabling is
required.
Before using the device, you should carefully read the user manual which
describes the general knowledge and features of the device. By reading the user
manual, you can learn how to install the Powerline utility and how to use the
buttons in the user interface. The user manual also helps to troubleshoot common
problems.

2.2 Packing List

2.3 Safety Precautions

The device is intended for connection to the AC power line. Before using the device,
read the precautions carefully, in order to use the device correctly and safely. For
installation instructions, refer to the description of installation in the user manual.

Follow all the warnings and instructions marked on the product.
Before cleaning the device, unplug it from the outlet on the wall. Use dry

cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners.

Do not place the device near water.
Do not place the device near or over a radiator or heat source.
Do not use an extension cord between the device and the AC power supply.
Only professional technicians should service the device. Opening or

removing covers may result in exposure to dangerous voltage points or other
risks.

Unplug the device from the wall outlet and refer to professional service

personnel for the following conditions:

– If liquid is spilled into the product
– If the device is exposed to rain or water
– If the device does not operate normally when the operation instructions

are followed.

– If the device exhibits a distinct change in performance.

The product can plug only in vertical, not in horizontal.

3 System Requirements

4 Hardware Description

4.1 Ethernet Interface

One end of the Ethernet interface is used to connect to the Ethernet cable and the
other end connects to the interface of the network adapter of a computer or another
Ethernet device.

4.2 Buttons

Reset: Press the button for over 10 seconds to restore the factory default

settings.

Security: Set the status of the device members. It is used to add devices to

the existing network or remove devices from the existing network. You can
observe the status of the Security indicator to know the process and result.

Add

Assume that an existing network contains devices A and B that share the same
network key and device C wants to join the network. To add device C to the
network, do as follows:

Note:

Devices that share the same network key are in the same network.

(1) Press the button for 1-3 seconds on device C.

(2) Press the button for 1-3 seconds on a device in the existing network (either

device A or B).

(3) Wait for the connection to complete. During the process, the Power indicators

on device C and the device in the network blink in green.

Remove

Assume that an existing network contains devices A, B, and C and device C wants
to leave the network. To remove device C from the network, do as follows:
(1) Press the button for more than 10 seconds on device C. A random network

key that is different from the original is generated.

(2) Device is not in the network after reboot.

Standby: Press the button for more than 3 seconds to switch between the

working mode and the standby mode.

4.3 LED Indicators

There are three LED indicators on the front panel to indicate the status of the
device.

5 Installation of the Powerline Utility

The Powerline Utility is a configuration management utility of GGL541 chip devices
based on HomePlugAV and Mediaxtream

TM

. The utility can scan and track all
devices that can communicate in the network.
Before installing the utility, uninstall any Powerline Utility that is already installed in
the computer.

To properly run the Powerline Utility, the WinPcap must be installed. For details,
visit http://www.winpcap.org

.

Insert the CD to the CD drive and the files in the CD is displayed as follows:

Note:

The license agreement of the WinPcap should be accepted.

5.1 Installing the WinPcap

Double-click the Setup.exe to start installing the Powerline Utility. If no WinPcap is
installed in the computer, the WinPcap included in the CD is automatically installed
before the Powerline Utility is installed. See the following figure:

If the WinPcap of an earlier version is already installed in the computer, a prompt is
displayed asking you to uninstall the earlier version, such as WinPcap4.0.2, when
you try installing the WinPcap. See the following figure:

5.2 Installing the Powerline Utility

If the latest WinPcap is already installed in the computer, the WinPcap is not
installed when the Powerline Utility is being installed. Follow the wizard to install
the Powerline Utility.

In the page where the License Agreement is displayed, if you select the I do not
accept the agreement check box, the installation program exits and the Powerline
Utility is not installed. If you select the I accept the agreement check box, the
installation application proceeds and the Select Destination Location page
appears. See the following figure:

The default installation path of the Powerline Utility is C:\Program Files\MSI PLC
Utility. You can click Browse to change the installation path. Then, click Next to
set the folder in the Start menu. See the following figure:

If the Create a desktop icon check box is selected, a shortcut icon is generated on
the desktop.

If you select the Launch MSI PLC Utility check box, the Powerline Utility is
automatically running after it is successfully installed. You can also double-click the
shortcut icon on the desktop to run the program.

6 User Interface

6.1 Main Tab

The Main tab of the Powerline Utility displays the information of the local and
authenticated remote devices in a Powerline network, such as the name, password,
MAC address, and rate, and network password of a remote device.
The upper area displays the information of the device connected to the network
adapter of the local computer. Normally, only one device is detected.

If the computer has more than one network adapter interface, several devices can
be detected.

Select one local device and click Connect on the right. The lower area displays the
information of the remote devices connected to the local device. If no remote
device is detected, the information 0 device(s) found is displayed.
The following table describes the information of the remote devices:

Devicename

Name of the device. You can click Rename to change the
name.

Password

Password of the device (DPW). The default is blank. To
manage remote devices, you should know the DPW, which is
printed in the label on the device.

MAC Address MAC address of the remote device.

HPTV
Rate(Tx/Rx)

Physical connection rate of HomePlugAV. Tx indicates the
transmitting rate and Rx indicates the receiving rate.

MX Rate(Tx/Rx) Physical connection rate of Mediaxtream.

Authenticate

Display whether the remote device is successfully
authenticated and whether it can communicate.

Note:

The device name or NPW cannot be successfully
changed unless the device is successfully
authenticated.

Rename: Click an entry of the Device Name to select a device and click

Rename. In the window that is displayed, you can change the name of the

device. See the following figure:

Enter Password: If the remote device is not successfully authenticated, that

is, if fail is displayed in the Authenticate field in 1.1.1.1 1.1)a.Figure 17,
click the button and enter the device password again in the window that is
displayed to authenticate. Two passwords can be used for authentication:
one is printed on the label of the Powerline device, with four digits a group;
the other is the default password This is our Device Password given to
the peer STA. If the authentication with the default password fails, use the
password on the device label to try again. In 1.1.1.1 1.1)a.Figure 17,
remote device (MAC:00:B0:52:00:00:A5) fails in the initial authentication.
Click Enter Password to enter the password and try authentication again. If

the default password does not work, try the password on the label at the
back of the device again. See the following figure:

The upper area of the window displays the MAC address of the device. If the
authentication fails, the following dialog box is displayed:

Change NPW: You can click the button and change the network password

(NPW) of the device in the window that is displayed. That is, this button can
be used to remove devices from the existing network and form a new private
network.
All devices have a default NPW, which is usually HomePlugAV, during
production in the factory. That is, all devices are in the same network. If the
NPW is changed for one device, the device is not in the network any more,
and its information is not displayed in the lower area of the window as shown
in 1.1.1.1 1.1)a.Figure 17. For example, in the following figure, change the
NPW of remote device named name1 to 12345678.

After the NPW is changed, the Main tab is shown as follows:

Because the device now has a different NPW from the NPW of any device in
the existing Powerline network, the device is removed from the network and
is not displayed in the area of remote device information as shown in 1.1.1.1

Change Local NPW: You can click the button to change the NPW of the

local device, in order to add a device to the existing network. If the NPW of
the local device is changed, the remote device information in the lower area
of the window as shown in 1.1.1.1 1.1)a.Figure 17 is not displayed
because the remote devices have different NPW from the local device. Only
devices that have the same NPW as the local device is displayed in the area
of remote device information as shown in 1.1.1.1 1.1)a.Figure 17.

If you want to add the device to the network again, select the device as the
local, and click Change Local NPW to change its NPW to HomePlugAV.
For example, if you want to add name1 (00:1F:84:00:00:AA) to the existing
network again, set the device to the local and change its NPW to the same
as the devices in the network.

Scan: It is used to detect all devices in the network. By default, the

Powerline Utility automatically scans every other minute to update the
device information.

Upgrade Firmware: You can click the button to update the firmware of the

device. Note that the device must be authenticated before updating. You can
click Browse and select the bin_upgrade, fw_upgrade, paramconfig files
to update the firmware.

Caution:

The updating process may take a few minutes. Do not click Close or Cancel to
exit or do any operation during the process. Otherwise, an error may occur.

6.2 Information Tab

The Information tab displays the system information and the version information
of the firmware, including the following:

MAC address of the local network adapter of the computer
MAC address of the local device connected to the computer
Network name (that is, NPW) of the local device
Vendor name
Software version
Firmware information (such as issue date and SVN date)

6.3 About Tab

The About tab displays the software version, issue date, and copyright information.
It also provides the website link of the Powerline company. You can click the link to
visit the website.
The following options are for OEM/ODM customization:

You can modify them without compilation.
Preferences: It provides a few options. For example, AutoScan, which is

selected by default.
