The Motorola Broadband portfolio of consumer solutions leverage the company’s 50­year heritage and technical leadership in building innovative consumer electronics devices – making the benefits of that experience directly available to consumers. At SuperComm 2004 (20-24 June, McCormick Place, Chicago, Booth #21416), Motorola will demonstrate the following “connected home” products:
Broadband Telephony
Motorola VT1000 Series Voice Terminal
The Motorola VT1000 is a voice over IP (VoIP) solution that simplifies the process of setting up telephony service through a DSL or cable modem – enabling consumers and small business owners to use traditional phone handsets to make calls over the Internet.
The Motorola VT1000 initiates calls using Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) – allowing multiple service providers to leverage the platform for voice service and, in turn, providing consumers with a choice of service providers. The Motorola VT1000 supports two telephone lines and contains two Ethernet ports, one to connect to the subscriber’s broadband modem (cable or DSL) and another to connect to a home computer. Features include:

No additional router or home networking equipment is required.
Motorola Ojo™ Personal Video Phone
Motorola’s unique implementation of advanced telephony, compression, and multi­media technologies enable Ojo to produce pictures and sound that are true-to-life. The Ojo experience surpasses previous video telephony attempts by providing high-quality images without the break-up and distortion normally associated with video phones. Ojo is designed for residential consumers. It can be used for both IP video calls and PSTN or VoIP audio calls using a household’s current ten-digit telephone number. Among its many features are a video and audio answering device, a wireless display unit, a full­featured cordless handset, an easy-to-use graphical user interface, picture-based caller ID, and easily accessible video and audio privacy controls. Ojo’s unique industrial design is both stylish and functional.
Home Monitoring and Control
Motorola HM1000
The Motorola HM1000 is a do-it-yourself, PC-based home monitoring and control solution that provides homeowners with simple access and control of their household systems and devices.
The HM1000 Starter Kit includes everything a consumer needs to begin monitoring their house, including Motorola Home Monitoring and Control software, a USB controller, and a wireless camera. Consumers can customize the system for their particular household needs, adding wireless cameras, motion sensors, contact sensors, and lighting and appliance controls.
Users will be able to enhance their HM1000 system with the complete Shell HomeGenie™ service without the purchase of additional equipment.
Set-Top Solutions
Motorola VIP1000 IP Set-Top
The Motorola Video Internet Protocol (VIP) 1000 and VIP1200 set-tops support hardware-based decoding of standard-definition (SD), high definition (HD), MPEG-4 Advanced Video Codec part 10 (H.264), Windows Media 9, and MPEG-2 video, providing a cost-effective solution for the deployment of IP-based video services. The set-tops have enough processing power and memory to run a browser, enabling an enhanced program guide (EPG), video-on-demand (VOD), and some additional applications. The platform offers dual USB connectors, composite video output, left/right baseband audio outputs and a 10/100 BaseT Ethernet interface.
The high-definition enabled VIP1200 adds more memory and can decode and display (HD) content through component video (YPbPr) and multi-channel audio (SPDIF) outputs. The set-top also includes a component digital output interface.
With the VIP1000 and VIP1200, Motorola now offers an economical solution for service providers looking to deploy video over an ADSL2+ network.
Motorola Residential Gateway RG2200 The Motorola RG2200 is a world-class residential gateway solution supports the delivery of advanced entertainment services and solutions via the existing Telecommunication Service Provider’s network infrastructure. As part of the Motorola Multi-Service Access Platform, the RG2200 bundles voice, high-speed Internet, broadcast and on-demand digital television services. The RG2200 family of products provides customers a “whole-home” solution, operating as a single access device to the home, the RG2200 can deliver two or three concurrent streams of DVD quality video to provide the functionality of multiple set-top boxes. In addition, the RG2200 can be used to offer high speed Internet access, on-screen Caller ID, and interactive features (e.g., pay-per-view (PPV), VOD, and interactive TV applications.
Wireless Networking Solutions
The Motorola WR850G Wireless Broadband Router is built with both an 802.11g wireless access point and a 4-port Ethernet router. Connected users can share files, pictures, peripherals, printers and more at data rates up to 54 Mbps. By connecting a broadband modem (cable, DSL or other), consumers can also share a single high speed Internet connection.
The Motorola WA840G Wireless Access Point creates an 802.11g wireless network and is capable of providing data rates up to 54 Mbps. Connected users can effortlessly share files, pictures, peripherals, printers and more with everyone else on the network. The WA840G also supports multiple modes of operation to extend a wireless network.
The Motorola WE800G Wireless Ethernet Bridge connects any Ethernet-equipped hardware, including desktops, printers, peripherals and game consoles, to an 802.11g wireless home or small office network at data rates up to 54 Mbps. The device will also seamlessly transition between two separate networks – from home to office, office to coffee shop, or anywhere you want to connect.
The Motorola WN825G Wireless Notebook Adapter connects laptops to a wireless network. Users can enjoy all the benefits of an 802.11g home or small office network­sharing files, pictures, peripherals, printers and more – at data rates up to 54 Mbps.
The Motorola WPCI810G Wireless PCI Adapter connects desktop PCs to a wireless network at data rates up to 54 Mbps. This easy-to-use device eliminates the hassles of traditional networking — no more drilling holes and running wires to get network access. This space-saving device inserts into your computer’s available PCI slot and delivers a continuous wireless network connection.
The Motorola WU830G Wireless USB Adapter connects your desktop or laptop PC to an 802.11g wireless network through a USB port at data rates up to 54 Mbps. The WU830G supports USB 2.0 with 128-bit WEP encryption.
The Motorola WPS870G Wireless Print Server connects multiple printers to your
802.11g wireless home network at data rates up to 54 Mbps. The WPS870 allows you to connect one USB 2.0 and one parallel port printer and provides a admin utility for server management.
The Motorola BR700 Ethernet Broadband Router creates a wired network. It is built with a 4-port 10/100Base-T Ethernet router/switch that supports data rates up to 100 Mbps, and will network everyone in the home or small office.
