FIELD SERVICE BULLETIN
FSB Number: STEFSB2004-0009 Author: Randall Willms Date: August 2, 2004 Total No. of Pages: 1 Subject: VC100 Hardware Support for GP Gate 3G Model Affected: All 3G Region 1 Models Level of Repair: 3, and 4
Subject
The GP Gate software now supports the Yokogawa VC100 3G test set. Since the testset does not support GPIB, a 9 pin RS232 serial cable is used to communicate with the testset. The serial cable is a female to female null modem cable (pins 2 & 3 cross over).
During the development of the driver for the VC100 we have experienced a “Protocol
Error” message that the testset generates when an unexpected error occurs in the
signaling. This causes the GPGate software to stop and the application needs to be restarted. Yokogawa has found resolutions to all of the issues which caused this error condition so far (they are still in the process of implementing one of these resolutions into
their released software). In the event that you experience this “Protocol Error” message,
please contact Yokogawa immediately. They will require the model and software version of the phone that caused the testset to error.
The VC100s firmware can be upgraded by loading the new testset software (provided by Yokogawa) onto a USB flash drive and plugging the flash drive into the available USB port on the front panel of the testset.
Currently, the VC100 only supports 3G Region 1, and is scheduled to support 3G Region 2, 3G Region 3, GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800, and GSM 1900 in December 2004 (this will require a software and hardware upgrade to the current box).
