GETTING STARTED
INSTALL THE BATTERY
1. Push up the latch at the bottom of the battery
door and lift the battery door off the radio.
2. Align the battery contacts with tabs in the
battery compartment. Insert the contact side of
the battery first, then press the battery down to
secure in place.
3. Put the battery door back on the radio. Push
down the latch to lock.
Connecting a Wired Audio Accessory
To connect the wired audio accessory:
3. Plug the audio accessory straight into the
accessory connector on the radio. Screw the
audio accessory plug into the connector until it
is tight and fully engaged with the connector.

Adding Bluetooth Headset (Initial Pairing)
1. Turn the radio OFF.
2. Put Bluetooth headset in pairing mode. Refer to
your Bluetooth headset instructions leaflet.
3. Press and hold the PTT button and power
button simultaneously until radio shows the blue
Note: The Bluetooth feature is disabled when the wired
audio accessory is plugged into the accessory
connector on the CLP radio.

1. Turn the radio OFF.
2. Press the power button to turn the radio ON.
(Make sure the Bluetooth headset is turned
ON).

• To turn the radio ON, press and hold the Power/
Battery button until you hear a short tone and the
Smart Status Glow lights up.
• To turn it OFF, press and hold the button until you
hear a short tone and the Smart Status Glow
(red) indicator blinks once.
Adjusting the Volume
4. Make a small loop in the cord. Pass the cord
through the cord guide, nest the cord in the
U-shaped groove. Pull tight to lock the cord in
place.

TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING
1. To talk, press and hold the PTT button on the
front of the radio (or on select wired audio
accessories with an inline PTT). Speak clearly
into the microphone on the audio accessory.
When finished talking, release the PTT to listen.
2. To receive, listen through the earpiece at the
volume level you have set. Press the PTT to
respond.
OPERATION WITH MENU SETTINGS
Press Menu button to navigate through the Menu settings. Voice Assisted Operation feature may
not be available on certain previous shipping models. At any time in Menu mode, short press PTT or
wait 3 seconds to exit the menu.

confirm or it is activated after a 3 second hang
time.

Monitoring a Channel
1. To activate, press the Menu button to navigate
to Monitor mode.
2. When Monitor is OFF, you will hear the voice
prompt: “Monitor” – “To activate” – “press +/-”.
3. Press either “+/-“ button to activate the Monitor;
press either “+/-“ button again to deactivate.
Note: When Monitor is ON, you will hear static if
no activity is present or audio if channel

(*) For multi-channel models only
You can scan up to 4 channels on CLP 1043
models and scan up to 6 channels on CLP1063
models. When the radio detects activity, it stops
scanning and locks in on the active channel.
This allows you to talk and listen to the person
transmitting without changing channels.
Dynamic Talkaround Scan (*)
"Dynamic Talkaround Scan" is a simple but
effective method for an on-site repeater enabled
two-way radio systems to maximize
communication coverage. This feature can be
enabled on a repeater channel via the Customer
Programming Software (CPS). The Dynamic
Talkaround Scan gives the radio the ability to scan
both the transmit and receive frequencies of a
Mute Feature (*)
You can quickly lower the headset volume using
the Mute feature.
1. Press and hold + or - button while receiving
audio to quickly lower the headset volume to
“Mute Headset Volume” setting (configurable via
CPS). You can hear the voice prompt: "Mute"

The CLP Series radio provides Lithium-Ion
batteries that come in different capacities that will
define the battery life.
About the Li-Ion Battery
Motorola batteries are designed specifically to be
used with a Motorola charger and vice versa.
Charging in non-Motorola equipment may lead to
battery damage and void the battery warranty. The
battery should be at about 77 °F (25 °C) (room
temperature), whenever possible. Charging a cold
battery (below 50 ° F [10 °C]) may result in
leakage of electrolyte and ultimately in failure of
the battery. Charging a hot battery (above 95 °F
[35 °C]) results in reduced discharge capacity,

Li-Ion rechargeable batteries can be recycled.
However, recycling facilities may not be available
in all areas. Under various U.S. state laws and the
laws of several other countries, batteries must be
recycled and cannot be disposed of in landfills or
incinerators. Contact your local waste
management agency for specific requirements

FEATURES
Charging a Standalone Battery
For your convenience the battery on the CLP radios
can be charged as a stand alone battery using either a
Single Unit Charger (SUC) or a Multi-Unit Charger
(MUC).
Note: When acquiring additional chargers or power
supplies, make sure you have similar drop-in tray
chargers and power supplies sets. For part number
details, refer to “Chargers” Section on page 44.
2. Connect the CLP power supply to a proper AC
outlet.
3. Insert the battery into the tray, with the inside
surface of the battery facing the front of the
charger, as shown.
4. Ensure the slots in the battery correctly engage
in the charger.

Programming the Radio
To program the radio:
1. Connect the radio via the Drop-in Charger
Tray or the Charging Pocket with “PROG”
label on the Multi-Unit Charger and CPS
Programming Cable.
2. Make sure the radio is turned ON.
3. Once the radio is connected, open the CPS
and select “Read” on the toolbar to get the
radio profile. The CPS allows the user to
change settings, such as General, Audio,
Menu, Channels, Scan List, Customized PL/
DPL, Bluetooth

, as well as select
frequencies, PL/DPL codes on each
channel.

You can copy the CLP Series radio settings from
one radio (the source) to a second radio using the
CLP Series Single Unit Charger (SUC) Kit P/N
HKPN4008 and CLP Series Cloning Cable Kit
P/N HKKN4026 (optional accessory) or CLP

INSTALLER LA BATTERIE
1. Poussez le loquet de déclenchement au bas du
couvercle de la batterie vers le haut, puis retirez
le couvercle de la batterie en le soulevant.
2. Alignez les contacts de la batterie avec les
loquets du compartiment de la batterie. Insérez
d’abord le côté des contacts de la batterie, puis
appuyez sur la batterie vers le bas pour la fixer
en place.
3. Replacez le couvercle de la batterie. Poussez
le loquet de déclenchement vers le bas pour
verrouiller.

3. Enfoncez simultanément la touche de menu et
la touche d'alimentation jusqu'à ce que le voyant
DEL de la radio devienne bleu.
Remarque : (*) Pour un appariement réussi, la radio CLP et
l’écouteur Bluetooth doivent être suffisamment
rapprochés. Le processus d’appariement prend
environ 14 secondes.
Activation et désactivation de la radio

TRANSMISSION ET RÉCEPTION
1. Pour parler, maintenez enfoncée la touche PTT
sur la façade de la radio (ou sur certains
accessoires audio avec fil doté d’une ligne
PTT). Parlez clairement dans le microphone de
l’accessoire audio. Lorsque vous avez terminé,
relâchez la touche PTT pour écouter.
2. Pour recevoir, réglez le volume, puis écoutez
au moyen de l’écouteur. Appuyez sur la
touche PTT pour répondre.
FONCTIONNEMENT AVEC RÉGLAGES DU MENU
Pour parcourir les réglages du menu, appuyez sur le bouton Menu. L’utilisation avec commandes
vocales pourrait ne pas être possible avec certains modèles antérieurs. Pour quitter le menu lorsque
vous êtes en mode Menu, en tout temps, appuyez brièvement sur la touche PTT ou attendez
3 secondes.

Écoute d’un canal
1. Pour activer, appuyez sur le bouton Menu pour
accéder au mode Écoute.
2. Lorsque le mode Écoute est désactivé,
un message-guide vocal se fait entendre :
« Écoute » – « Pour activer » – « appuyez
sur +/- ».
3. Appuyez sur le bouton « +/- » pour activer le
mode Écoute; appuyez de nouveau sur le

constitue pour les systèmes radio bidirectionnels
avec répéteur sur place un moyen simple
mais efficace d’optimiser la couverture de
communication. Cette fonction peut être activée
sur un canal répéteur au moyen du logiciel de

1. Pour passer en mode Tonalité d’appel, appuyez
sur le bouton Menu.
2. Appuyez sur l’une des touches « +/- » pour

Lorsque différents modèles sont utilisés en même
temps (CLP1013 ou CLP1043 et CLP1063), il se peut
que les utilisateurs Bluetooth ne puissent entendre
quelques mots parce que la connexion Bluetooth n’est
pas établie. La tonalité d’autorisation de parler alloue
un délai permettant au lien entre la radio et l’écouteur
d’être rétabli, de sorte que moins de mots sont
perdus. La tonalité d’autorisation de parler est activée
par défaut dans le LP pour les modèles Bluetooth. (La

Les radios de la série CLP sont fournies avec
des batteries au lithium-ion dont les différentes
capacités définissent la durée de vie.

Les batteries Motorola sont conçues pour être
utilisées uniquement avec un chargeur Motorola et

Aux États-Unis et au Canada, Motorola participe
au programme national de la Société de recyclage
des piles rechargeables (RBRC) pour la collecte
des batteries au lithium-ion et leur recyclage.

additionnels, assurez-vous que vous
avez des ensembles de supports
2. Branchez le bloc d'alimentation CLP sur une
prise électrique appropriée.

l'avant du chargeur, comme dans
l'illustration.
4. Veillez à ce que les rainures de la batterie
s'engagent correctement dans le chargeur.

Pour programmer la radio :
1. Connectez la radio par l’intermédiaire du
câble de programmation et du support
chargeur ou du compartiment de charge
portant l’étiquette « PROG » dans le
chargeur multiple.
2. Assurez-vous que la radio est allumée.
3. Une fois que la radio est connectée, ouvrez
le LP, puis sélectionnez « Read » (Lecture)
dans la barre d’outils afin d’obtenir le profil
de la radio. Le LP permet à l’utilisateur de
modifier des paramètres tels que General
(Paramètres généraux), Audio, Menu,
Channels (Canaux), Scan List (Liste de
balayage), Customized PL/DPL (PL/DPL

1. Débranchez tous les câbles (alimentation
électrique ou câbles USB) des chargeurs
simples.
2. Branchez le microconnecteur de l’une des
extrémités du câble de clonage sur l’un
des chargeurs simples. Branchez le
microconnecteur de l’autre extrémité du
câble sur le second chargeur simple.
5. Placez la « radio source » dans son
chargeur simple avec un accessoire audio,
puis appuyez sur le bouton Menu et
relâchez-le pour démarrer le processus
de clonage.
6. Une fois le clonage terminé, la « radio
source » fait entendre une tonalité de
« réussite » (indiquant que le clonage

Que faire si le clonage échoue
La radio fait entendre un son mat indiquant que
le clonage a échoué. Dans ce cas, franchissez
chacune des étapes suivantes avant de faire
une nouvelle tentative.
1. Assurez-vous que les batteries des deux
radios sont complètement chargées.
2. Vérifiez les connexions du câble de clonage

La configuration avancée de la radio permet de
visualiser et de configurer les paramètres suivants
sans avoir à utiliser un ordinateur.
1. Maintenez enfoncées à la fois la touche PTT
« + » et la touche d'alimentation de 3 à 5
secondes, jusqu'à ce que vous entendiez
une courte tonalité et le message-guide
vocal « Mode programmation ».
Remarque : Le voyant DEL devrait clignoter en vert.
2. Appuyez sur la touche de menu pour
sélectionner les paramètres que vous voulez
modifier:
