Choose carefully

Apps are great. There 's something for everyone. P l ay, communicate, work, or ha v e fun. But re member, choose your apps carefully. Here are a few tips:
To help prevent spyware, phishing, or viruses from
aff ecting y our ph one or pri vacy, use apps from trusted sites, like
12 Apps
Market.
In Market, ch eck the apps’ ratings and comments
before installing.
If you doubt the safety of an app, don't install it.
Like all apps, downloaded apps will use up memory,
data, battery, and processing power—some more than others. For e x ample, a simple battery level widget will use less than a streaming music player app. After installing an app, if you're not happy with how much memory, data, battery or processing power it's using, uninstall it. You can always install it again later.
Just like web browsi ng, you may want to monitor
childrens’ access to apps to help prevent exposure to inappropriate content.
Certain apps may not provide completely accurate
inform ation. Take care, especially when it comes to personal health.

Specific Absorption Rate (IEEE)

SAR (IEEE)
YOUR MOBILE DEVICE MEETS FCC LIMITS FOR EXPOSURE TO RADIO WAVES.
Your mobile dev ic e is a rad io trans m i tter and rec ei ver. It is designed not to exceed the limits for exposure to radio waves (ra dio frequency electromagnetic fields ) adopted by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). These limits inclu d e a substanti al safety margin designed to assure the safe ty of all persons, regardless of age and hea lth . The radio wave exposure gui del i nes us e a unit of measurement known as the Sp ec i fic Absorption Rate, or SAR. The SAR lim i t for mo bi le dev i ces is 1.6W/kg. Tests for SA R are co nducted using standard operating positions with the device transmitt in g at its highest certified power le vel in al l te sted frequency bands. The highest SAR values under the FCC guidelines for y ou r device model are listed below:
Head SAR UMTS 900/1900, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 1.47W/kg Body-worn SAR UMTS 900/190 0, Wi-F i , Bl uetooth 1.35W/kg
During use, the actual SAR values for your device are usually well below the v al ue s stated. This is because, for purposes of system efficiency and to minimize interference on the network, the operating po w er of your m obile device is automatically decre as ed w hen full power is not needed for the call. The lower the pow er output of the device , the l ow er its SAR value. Body-worn SAR testing ha s been carried out using an approved acce s sory or at a separation distance of 2.5cm (1inch). To meet R F expos ure guidelines during body-worn operation, the device should be in an approv ed ac c ess ory or pos i ti oned at least 2.5cm (1 inch) away from the body. If y ou are no t usi ng an ap proved access ory, ens ure that w hatever prod uct is u sed is free of any metal and that it position s the phone at least 2.5cm (1 inch) away from the body. The World Health Org ani za ti on has stated that present scientific inf orm ati on does not indicate the need fo r any special precautions fo r the use of mobile dev i ces . They recommend that if you are interested in further reducing your exposure then you ca n easi l y do so by limiting your usage or simpl y using a hands-free kit to keep the device away from the head and body.

Location Services (GPS & AGPS)

GPS & AGPS
The following information is appl i cabl e to Motorola mobile devices that pr ov id e loc ati on based (GPS and/or AGPS) functi onality. Your mobile device can use Global Position in g Syst em (GPS) signals for location-based applications. GPS uses satel lites controlled by the U.S. governm ent tha t are subj ec t to changes implemented in acc ordance with the Department of Defens e pol i c y and the Federal Radio Navigation Pl an. These changes may affe ct the performance of location tec hnology on your mobile device. Your mobile device can also use Assisted Global Positioning System (AGPS), which obtains information from the c ell ul ar netw ork to improve GPS p erfo rm anc e . AGPS uses your wireless service provider's network and therefore airtime, data charges, and/ or additional charges may apply in accordance wit h your s ervi c e pl an. Co ntact y our wireless service provider for details.
Your Location
Location-based information includes information that can be used to determine the approximate location of a mo bi le dev i ce. M obile devices which are connecte d to a w ir el es s network transmit loc ation-based information. De vices enabled with GPS or AG P S technology also transmit location-based information. Additionally, if you use applications that requ ire location-based information ( e.g. driving directi ons), such app lications transm it location-base d information. This lo cati on-based information m ay be shared with third parties, including yo ur wireless service provider, applications providers, Motorola, and other third parties providing services.
Emergency Calls
When you make an emergenc y call, the cel lu la r netw ork may activate the AGPS technology in your mobile device to tell the em ergency responders your approxi m ate l ocati on. AGPS has limitations and

California Perchlorate Label

Perchlorate Label
Some mobile phones use an in terna l, perm anent backup battery on the printed circ uit board that may contain very small am ou nts of perc hlorate. In such cases, California law requires the following label: Perchlorate Material – special handling may apply when the battery is recycled or dis posed of. See

There is no special handling required by consumers.

Hearing Aid Compatibil ity with Mobile Phones

Hearing Aid Compatibility
Some Motorola phones are m easured for compatibility with hearin g aids . If the bo x for your particular model has “Rated for Hearing Aids” printed on it, the followi ng explanation applies. When some mobile pho nes are used near some hearing de v ice s (hearing aids and cochlear implants), users m ay detect a buzzing, h umm in g, or whining noise. Som e hearing devices are more immune than others to thi s int erference noise, and phones also vary in the am ount of interference they generate. The wireless telephone in dus try has developed ratings for some of thei r m obi l e phones, to assist hearing device users in find in g pho nes that may be compatible with their heari ng devices. Not all pho nes h ave be en rated . Phon es tha t are rated have the rating o n their box o r a label on the box. To maintain the publish ed Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC ) rating for t his mobile phone, use only the original equipment battery mo del . This phone has been tested and rated for use with hearing aids for so m e of the wirel es s technologies that it uses. H ow ever, there may be some newer wireless technologi es us ed in this phone that have not been test ed y et for use with hearing aids. It is important to try the different features of this phon e thoroughly and in different locations , usin g yo ur hearing aid or cochlear implant, to determi ne if you hear any interfering noise. Contact you r se rvice provider or Motorola for info rmation o n he aring a id compati bility. If you have questions about return or exchange policies , co ntact y our service provider or phone retai ler.
56
The ratings are not guara ntees. Results will vary depend in g on the us er’s he ari ng dev i c e and hearing loss. If your h eari ng dev i c e h appens to be vulnerable to interference, you may not be able to use a rated phone succe ss ful ly. Trying out the phone with your hea ri ng device is the best way to evaluate it for your perso nal needs.
M-Ratings:
Phones rated M3 or M4 mee t FCC requirements and are likely to generate less interference to hearing devi ces than phones that are not labeled. M4 is the better/higher of the two ratings.
T-Ratings:
Phones rated T3 or T4 meet FCC requirements and are likely to be more us able with a hearing device’s telecoil (“T Switch” or “Te le phone Switch”) than unrated phones. T4 is the better/higher of the two ratings . (Note that not all hearing devices have telecoi ls in them.) Hearing devices ma y also be m easure d for im mun ity to this type of interferenc e. Your hearing device manufacturer or h earing health profess ional m ay help you find re sults fo r your heari ng device. The more immune y our hearing aid is, the less likely you are to ex peri ence interference noise from mobile phones.
