M ax im um p ick -u p is o b tained when the re ceiv in g antenna is dir ec tly in line of sight with the tran sm ittin g antenna.

so that the s tron g er m agn et of the dou ble mag net type or the only m agn et in the sin gle m agnet type is pos ition ed o ver the in tern al po le p ie ces w hich are m oun ted on the gun stru ctu re . If the yoke support and the pictu re tube have sh ifted in tran sit, or if fo r any rea son the se p arts h ave b een rem ov ed and r ep la ce d , it is be st to do a c om p lete jo b of r ep o sit ion ing. See F igu re 3. The sta rtin g p oint is the p ositio n o f the pictu re tube. It sh ould be ad ju ste d s o that the dista nce fro m the c ent er o f the tube fac e to the front edge o f the c h as sis is 1-1/16 ". The cla m p on the fro nt of the tube shou ld then be tigh ten ed. The fo cu s c o il should be pos ition ed so that it is sp ace d l /4 " f ro m the d efle ction yok e w hen p ar alle l with the y oke. The open ing in the fo cu s c oi l should be c on ce n tric w ith the ne ck of the tube. The sp acin g shou ld b e adjusted b efo re the fr on t of the pict ure tube is cla m ped down b eca us e it is n e ce s sa ry to re m ov e the tube to chan ge the po sition of the fo cu s co il. Its position is ch anged by c ho ice of lo ca tion of the c o il moun ting studs in the sca llop ed h ole s on the top and b ottom of the co il mou nting br ack et . The opening in the fo cu s c oil can be m ade co n cen tric w ith the n eck of the tube b y lo o sen ing the nuts on the studs w hich su ppo rt the focu s co il b r a ck et and turning the studs with a s cr ew d riv er in the slo ts p r o vided . T he studs are e c ce n tric and m ove the c o il both v e r tica lly and h oriz on tally . Th ey should be u sed only to cen ter
the n eck of the tube in the op en in g o f the co il.

5. A n ad dition al RC netw ork, co ns isting of R-100 (470K ) and C -92 (100 m m f) has b een add ed in the clip p er input c ir cuit. T his netw ork , wh ich has a s hort tim e constan t, helps to m inim iz e the e ffe ct o f noise pu lse s at the clip pe r g rid.

12. R-15, R -2 0 , C -24 , and C-2 9 ar e re m o ve d. R-14 and
R-19 , the cathod e r es is to rs fo r V -3 and V -4 , a re gro unde d

13. The v ide o a m p lifier B plus su pply w as chang ed fro m
the 240 v olt bus to the 265 v olt bus and the au dio am p lif ie r B plus su pply was cha nged fro m the 265 vo lt bus to the 310 volt bu s. The boo tstra p ca pa cito r C -8 3 , w hich w as co nn e ct ed to the 240 v olt bus is now co nn ected to the 310 vo lt b us.

ra ise the "B " v oltage 35 to 45 v olts too high . In ord er to affor d a m easu re of p rot ectio n fo r the 6B Q6 and 6W 4 in th ese in stan ce s, a re s ist or R -104 has be en pla ced in s er ie s with the sp ea ker field .
This c ond ition a ris es on ly with ce rta in issu e "O " , " A " , or "B " tr an sfo rm e rs (issue d esign ation follo w s the p art num ber sta mp ed on t ra n sfo rm e rs) . In is sue "C " t ra n sf or m er s , w hich are cu rr en tly b eing p roduce d, this diffic ulty has been re m ed ied and the r e sis to r is no longe r n ec e ss ar y .
In future re pla cem en ts of tr an s for m er s, a c he ck should be m ad e of "B " volta ge.
