Introduction
Congratulations, you are now the owner of a fine Morphy Richards product. Please keep this instruction book for future reference.
Please read these instructions carefully in order to achieve the best possible performance from your 9 Band W orld Radio.
Using your radio in Europe
When using your radio in Europe the BBC World Service can be heard on the following wavebands and frequencies:-

IMPORTANT
Not all the frequencies will be audible in all parts of Europe, the listener should try each frequency in turn as some are not used all the time and can change according to atmospheric conditions or because of interference.

The radio can be operated from internal batteries or an external power source using a suitable 6V DC mains adaptor (not supplied).
Batteries
1. Remove the battery compartment cover (4) located at the rear of the unit by pressing in and sliding it downwards.
2. Insert the batteries 4 x ‘AA’ LR6 (Not provided)
3. Replace the battery compartment cover (4) by sliding it upwards.
Ensure correct battery polarity is observed.
If the unit is not to be used for a prolonged period of time, remove the batteries in order to avoid battery leakage.
Dispose of batteries safely.
External Power Supply (not included)
The radio can also be operated with a 6V DC mains adaptor with a negative centre pin output. Simply connect the adaptor output into the external power input socket (13).
Maintenance
Do not expose your radio to extremes of temperature. The product should be kept in a warm environment free from dust and damp. For external cleaning, use only a soft, clean, damp cloth. Use of detergents may damage the finish.

Radio Operation
To turn the radio on/off
1. To turn the radio on, slide the Power On/Off switch (9) upwards.
2. To turn the radio off, slide the Power On/Off switch (9) downwards.
To select desired waveband
1 . Select the desired waveband FM,MW, LW or SW with the waveband
selector switch (7).
2. If selecting SW, proceed by operating the short waveband selector switch (6) for SW bands 1-6.
Tuning
1. When tuning in an FM or SW programme, the telescopic aerial (3) should be fully extended and then rotated for the best reception.
2. Tune to the desired station by turning the tuning knob (10) to the desired station.
3. As a station is tuned in, the LED tuning indicator (8) will illuminate to indicate precise tuning. This may vary with radio signal strength. The tuning indicator may not operate correctly or may vary in brightness on SW due to signal levels on SW being variable.
4. The MW and LW bands use an internal directional aerial which is positioned inside the radio itself. Rotate the radio for best reception.
5. The volume control (5) and the tone control switch (12) should be adjusted as required.
Using Earphones (not included)
The radio has the facility of an earphone socket (14) for private listening. Earphones with an impedance of 8-32 Ohms are recommended. When the jack is in use, the built in speaker is automatically disconnected.

If your product proves to be defective within 28 days of purchase, your Morphy Richards dealer from whom the product was purchased will be pleased to replace it free of charge.
Should your product develop a defect within the guarantee period but after the replacement period, please return the product to the following address, together with the proof of purchase, brief details of the symptoms and your own name and address.
