cabinet materials, the drivers, the cross-over components, the
wiring and the dampening materials are selected for their sonic
merits and their construction quality. We know that you will

THE CABINET:

A spectacular rigid design.

The very exclusive cabinet is designed with music and superior
performance in mind.
First: The cabinet is made of the dense Medite MDF. This material
is made from hardwood chips that have been compressed with
nothing less than 80 lbs. per square inch. The Medite MDF has a
high glue density to ensure that all surfaces of the hardwood
chips are covered with glue to make them bond together as a
uniform mass, with absolutely no voids within the board.
Second: As a strong measure of further eliminating unwanted
vibrations, the Montana SP cabinet has been reinforced with
nothing less than four internal peri-metrical braces. The ultra
dense cabinet includes a 1 and 3/4 inch thick laminated front
baffle which gives the SP its remarkable ability to control the
energy transmitted from the drivers.
Third: To be doubly sure that no vibrations remain, the SP is
elevated slightly above floor level on a slim base with four
heavy duty adjustable spikes that transmit energy away from the
cabinet. The Montana SP cabinet is the rock solid foundation,
from which the SP will convey your music to you in the most
natural, beautiful, emotionally moving way.

THE DRIVERS:

Fast and flawless performance.

A special pair of 6 ½ inch mid-bass drivers have been selected
for the SP - the Vifa M1 8WO Montana - 08. The M18 features a
long stroke, low reflection basket type. It is built with an
ultra low distortion vented motor system that is perfectly
matched to the 40mm voice coil, wound on a heat resistant Kapton
former, driving the light (17.5 gr.) doped paper cone.
The M18-WO is a variant of driver utilized as a mid-bass driver
in the SP’s larger sibling, the awesome Montana XP. However, in
the SP, it is loaded with a bass reflex cabinet for a deep tight
bass and excellent transient capabilities. In addition, the
reflex port is rectangular in shape, this enables a perfect match
of the square area of the port to the maximum linear excursion of
the driver. The result is a clean mid-range, because the cone
does not move out of its linear operating range.
Also, the internal volume of the cabinet has been divided into
two sections by a special "low frequency transparent" foam pad.
This special technique enables the SP to produce the very tight
upper bass normally associated with a sealed enclosure combined
with ultimate low-end extension of a ported enclosure.
Because of it’s tight cone and it’s very large magnet (25oz), the
M18 delivers a superior mid-range clarity which gives the Montana
SP an astonishing ability to present both ambience and depth in
the sound stage.
