THE MONTANA DPS
Made in the USA the Montana DPS is built with the very best materials available. The cabi net materials, the drivers, the cross-over components, the wi ring and the dampening materials are selected for their sonic merits and construction quality. A lifetime of musical enjoyment is possible with this hand-crafted limited edition, truly unique loudspeaker.
THE CABINET
Beautiful, slim, solid as a rock.
Like all Montana Loudspeakers, the Montana DPS is constructed with the superior Medite MDF. This material is made from hardwood chips bonded under extremely high p ressure. Medite MDF has a very high glue density to ensure full coverage of the chi ps and prevent internal voids, therefore making it a superior building material for Montana cabinets.
All cabinet walls are made from 1" MDF board compared to the standard 3/4" used by most other builders. In addition, to ensure that the DPS cabinet is in full control of the energy transmitted from the drivers, the front baffle is laminated with a 3/4" board resulting in a 1 3/4" thick baffle. A 1" thick spiked platform anchors DPS to the floor.
SMALL BUT STATE OF THE ART
The cabinet is shaped like an asymmetrical hexagon. There are several advantages to this construction method: 1) no parallel surfaces within the cabinet which eliminates standing waves that would otherwise create distortion, and 2) no multiple board within the cabinet will have the same resonance frequency, effectively eliminating amplified resonance vibrations from the cabinet. To even further eliminate unwanted distorting vibrations from the cabinet, it has been reinforced with nothing less than four internal perimetrical braces. This produces a clean more detail ed sound, free from the cabinet colorations that plague lesser designs.

THE DRIVERS
State of the art.
The DPS utilizes two custom made 5 1/4" Vifa mid-woofers per cabinet. This driver is made with a new long stroke, ultra low reflection magnesium basket. It has an extremely stiff Pentagon shaped conical paper cone attached to the basket with a very low damping, specially formulated, rubber surround. The pentagon shape of this cone, combined with the advanced motor system reduces distortion and cone brake up at all listening levels. These new drivers sound so good we decided to create this very special cabinet for them.
The internal cabinet volume has been divided into two sections by a special "low frequency transparent" foam pad. This special technique enables the DPS to produce the tight upper bass normally associ ated with a sealed enclosure combined with the solid deep b a ss of a v ented enclosure.
THE TWEETER
Reaching for new hig hs.
The DPS tweeter is based on the same custom made 3/4" Scanspeak/Montana D2010 dome used in our Montana DP. The specially hand made dome driver features a new lower resonance frequency. A hand coated textile diaphragm attached to a precision aluminum wire voice coil with a 27 strand tinsel wire ensures clean detailed hi ghs.
It is well known that the tweeter in a loudspeaker plays a major part in imaging, sound staging and transient attack. O ur custom dom e has an extremely linear resp onse, low distortion, and wid e dispersion. The DPS is capable of startling realism, bringing you closer to the music.

THE CROSS-OVER
Outstanding quality and design.
The absolute optimizing of the cabinet, baffle and volume relations along with accurate driver placement ensure that very si mple crossover circuits can be utilized in the DPS cross-over. Very few components are placed within the signal path, enabling a cleaner more pure sound from the drivers. Our standard low pass 6dB/Oct electrical filter combined with the drivers natural roll-off, gives a perfectly smooth transition to the 24dB/oct high-pass secti on. This results in three drivers operating as one, with a smooth overlap in the cross-over region.
One listen and you will understand the importance we place on quality. Custom Montana film and foil capacitors, Sol en inductors and Monster M1.2 internal wiring are used throughout. We have done everything possible to build a speaker that recreates music in an untouched way.
BI-WIRING
Your connection to perfec ti o n.
To get the most out of this excellent speaker, we have provided two sets of gold terminals. You must run two sets of hi gh quality cables from your amplifier to the DPS, resulting in less interference between the two sections of the crossover.
