THE MONTANA KAS

THE KICK ASS SPEAKER!

Known as the "Home Wrecker" The Montana
KAS is made of the very best materials
available. The cabinet materials, the drivers,
the crossover components, the wiring and the
dampening materials are selected for their sonic
merits and construction quality. Nothing but the
best could be chosen for this limited edition, statement
loudspeaker.

THE CABINET

Elegant, substantial, solid as a rock.

The cabinet is shaped like an asymmetrical hexagon, and the internal
midrange and mid-bass cabinets are triangular in shape. There are
several advantages to this construction method: 1) no parallel surfaces
within the cabinet which eliminates standing waves that would
otherwise create distortion, and 2) no multiple board within the cabinet
will have the same resonance frequency, effectively eliminating
amplified resonance vibrations from the cabi net. To even further
eliminate unwanted distorti ng vibrations from the cabinet, it has been
reinforced with nothing less than seven internal peri-metrical braces.

This proprietary design produces a three­dimensional highly detail ed sound-stage.

THE WOOFERS

Well-defined and fast.

The KAS utilizes two custom made 12"
Montana KAS woofers per cabinet. This driver
is the fastest 12" driver on the planet. It is
custom made to our specifications using
driver technology new to the high end
speaker industry. This ultra long stroke driver
with its low reflection, rectangular dye-cast
basket and huge focused field magnet is the
most durable woofer ever to grace a high end
speaker. It has an extremely stiff conical
paper cone attached to the basket with a
specially formulated, santoprene surround.
Cone brake-up and coloration are virtually
eliminated.

THE MONTANA KAS

The Montana 12" woofers are mounted in an optimized bass-reflex
enclosure with a port at the bottom front of the cabinet allowing ease of
placement in your listening room. This speaker has the quick room
controlling bass you expect from Montana but with new unyielding
levels of impact and slam you have to experience to believe.

THE MID-BASS DRIVERS

Perfect tonality and in total control.

A special 7" ultra high definiti on mid-bass driver has been created for
the KAS from ScanSpeak of Denmark. The 18W Montana features a
long stroke, low reflection Magnesium/Aluminum basket. It is built with
an ultra low distortion vented motor system that is perfectl y matched to
the 1 1/2" voice coil driving an inflexible, extremely light carbon fibre
impregnated paper cone.

The M18 has a concave dust cap that eliminates any unwanted low­midrange glare and a linear/low loss suspension for dynamics and
speed. The Montana mid-bass units operate in separate acoustic
suspension enclosures with a triangul ar shape. No P VC pipe or sonatube
enclosures are used here! Our mid-bass cabinets are heavily braced 1"
medite. These drivers are responsible for the foundati on necessary for
accurate midrange. The mid-bass must be as quick as the midrange in
order to properly recreate a believable sound-stage free from coloration
or haze. The mid-bass drivers provide the snap and agility which mini
monitors and planar's seem to boast, however these drivers play in the
big league when it comes to dynamic power and contrast.

THE MID-RANGE DRIVERS:

Clear as crystal, strong as steel.

The 4" ScanSpeak 13M8-Montana midrange drivers have remarkably
low distortion figures and high transient capability because of their
advanced Kevlar cones. This driver has a newly developed magnet
motor system with extreme magnetic flux in the air gap. It utilizes
ScanSpeak's patented symmetrical drive, along with a symmetri cal
lathed, vented pole piece, mounted to an unusually heavy die cast
magnesium basket. On top of the extremely light aluminum voice coil
former and wire, we had ScanSpeak mount their 38mm fabric dome to
ensure the most logical transformation of the movements from the
voice coil to the dome and cone. The 13M has a long-throw excursion
capability that will ensure clarity, balance and detail. The baffle in the
KAS is 3" thick and heavily braced which gives this world class driver an
optimum launching platform. No vibration. No coloration. We wouldn't
have it any other way.
