available. The cabinet materials, the drivers, the
cross-over components, the wiring and the
dampening materials are selected for their sonic
merits and their construction quality. We know that

THE CABINET

Built with superior performance in mind.

Like all Montana Loudspeakers, the Montana DP cabinet is constructed
with the superior Medite MDF. This material is made from hardwood
chips and it has a high glue densi t y to ensure full coverage of these
chips before compression. This technique ensures an MDF board with
absolutely no voids within, therefore making it a superior building
material for the exclusive Montana DP cabinet.

Our cabinet standard prescribes heavy peri-metrical bracing so the DP
cabinet has been reinforced with nothing l ess than three internal
braces. Also the bottom third of the cabinet has been sealed off and
filled with sand to ensure the slim elegant cabinet couples to the floor
via the spiked 1" platform. The cabinet sides are made with 1" thick
material compared to the 3/4" used by most others. In addition, to
ensure that the DP cabinet is in full control of the energy transmitted
from the drivers the front baffle is laminated with a 3/4" inch board
resulting in a 1 3/4" thick baffle.

This very conservative cabinet construction method guarantees an
extremely rigid and dense cabinet from which the Montana DP will
convey your music to you in the most natural, beautiful and moving
way possible from a loudspeaker this si ze.

THE DRIVERS

Quick and in control.

The two 5 1/4" mid-woofers utilized in the DP feature a large magnet
for high efficiency and excellent transient capability. They have a 25mm
voice coil perfectly matched to the very light (5 gr.) treated paper cone.
The cone is coupled to the resonance free magnesium basket with a
high damping rubber surround resulting in an extremely smooth
frequency response to over 5 khz.

The woofers are loaded with a reflex cabinet to ensure a deep, tight and
quick bass. In addition we have matched the rectangular port area
perfectly to the maximum linear excursion of the cones. This results in
an extremely clean midrange allowing all the information in your music
to be conveyed to you.

The internal cabinet volume has been divided by a special "low
frequency transparent" foam pad. This special technique enables the DP
to produce the tight upper bass normally associated wi th a sealed
enclosure, combined with the solid deep bass of a vented enclosure.

THE TWEETER

A proven winner.

We have chosen a 3/4' dome from the Scan-Speak catalogue for the
DP. The D2008 has gained a remarkably fine reputation from top
loudspeaker designers all over the world. This is because the D2008 has
an extremely linear response, low distortion and wide dispersion
combined with high power handling.

The tweeter features a special high flux magnet combined with a high
precision galvanized, vented pole piece. The D2008 also utilizes a hand
coated textile diaphragm attached to a precision aluminum wire voice
coil with a 27 strand tinsel wire, making a very low resonant frequency
possible. The end result of all this top notch engineering is a clean and
detailed high frequency reproduction with very good dynami cs. The kind
of stuff that makes you believe you are right there in the concert hall
when you play your music.
