OPERATING YOUR VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM
AUTOMATIC ‘TRIPL E CIRCUIT’ ENGINE IMM O BILISATION
The engine always immobilises automatically 30 seconds after the ignition has been turned off. When you turn the ignition OFF, the dashboard LED wil l start to fast flash for 30 seconds t o indicate
the automatic sequence has commenced. At the end of the 30 seconds, the siren will chirp once (alarm models only), the indicators will flash once and the dashboard LED will slow flash as confirmation of imm obi l isation. Only the engine is immobil ised, the alarm system is not yet armed. If an attempt is made to start the engine whilst immobilised, the siren will chirp a warning – fully sounds if armed by remote.

To confirm arming, the indicators flash once, the siren chirps once and the dashboard warning LED, will then slow flash.
If your vehicle has central locking and i t has been connected to this security system , t he
doors will lock at the same time as arming. If the automatic engine immobiliser has activated before you wished to arm the system, press
button one twice – once to disengage the i mmobiliser and a second tim e to fully arm (and lock the doors if connected) and immobilise the system. Note: The system can be programmed to arm automatically 30 sec onds aft er t he l as t door is closed. See page 12.
OPEN CIRCUIT BYPASS
If any door, the bonnet or boot is left open when you arm the system , the siren will chirp once t o signify the system is armed and then chirp again to inform you a circuit is still open. The dash mounted LED will flash a code for 30 seconds showing you what is open (s ee page 10). If ignored and not closed, that circuit will not be protected. The open circuit will automatically arm upon closure.
CENTRAL LOCKING - addi ti o n al p arts, at extra cost, may be required.
This security system has built-in relays to operate a vehicles ’ ex is t i ng cent ral l ock i ng s yst em by remot e control. When connected, the doors will lock or unlock at the same t ime as arming or disarming.
SILENT ARM (no siren chirps) Press button two and then, within 2 seconds , button one to silently arm the system . The chirps may be permanently turned off via the programming options – see your installer.

The light s flas h once as confi rmati on of re-arming. This feature cannot be t urned of f . If a door, bonnet or boot is opened after disarming, t he alarm will not re-arm and t he doors will not re-lock. However, the engine will re-i m mobilise if the ignition is not turned ON withi n 30 s econds.
IGNITION, BONNET , BOO T & DOORS – 30 second siren – 60 second li g h t flash
When armed, the siren will s ound for 30 seconds and the indic ators will flash for 60 seconds when any of these are triggered. If a door, bonnet or boot has been opened and lef t open, the siren will sound for 90 seconds (3 x 30 seconds) and the indicators will flash. The open circuit will then be bypassed. (If programmed for NSW, the si ren wil l sound once only for 30 seconds) The system does require your vehicle to be fitted with courtesy light door switches for these to trigger the alarm. Fitti ng or replacing door switches will incur addit i onal charges.
6
BUILT-IN TURBO TIMER The built-in turbo timer all ows the engi ne t o continue running (if installed for this feature) for a preprogrammed time after t he igni t i on has been turned off. This feature m ay be used to all ow t he vehicles turbo/engine to cool down. In normal driv i ng sit uations and to save fuel, the turbo timer should not be necessary.
The timer is programmabl e f or durat ion from 1 to 5 minutes - see ‘programm i ng’ . To enable the turbo timer feature:- with the ignition on, press rem ote buttons 2 & 3 at the same time, siren chirps once. The tim er function will now always be ON each time the v ehi cle is us ed. To disable the timer:- repeat t he above procedure – siren chirps twic e – timer is now off. To stop the engine if alread y running:- press buttons 2 & 3 at the same time
NOTE: When the engine is running, arming the alarm does not immedi at el y immobi li se the engine or turn on any sensors. An intrus i on by opening any door, bonnet or boot will imm edi ately stop and immobilise the engine and trigger t he al arm.
To arm with timer ON:-
Ensure the vehicle is in neutral gear or ‘park’ position and the handbrak e i s appli ed. Turn the ignition off (engine rem ai ns running if timer is ON – engine stops if timer is OF F ) Exit the vehicle ensuring all doors, bonnet & boot are closed. 2 S TAGE I MPACT/SHOCK SENSOR (M80S/G)
This sensor is designed to detec t impact to the vehicle such as to the bodywork or glass. It should not be triggered by normal wind, or roc king motions.
If the sensor detects a light impact, the siren will sound a few warning chirps. If the sensor detects a heavier impact, the analyser circuit will determine this and sound
the siren for 30 seconds and flash the lights.
The sensitivity level is set by the installer and should be at its optimum. Avoid over sensitivity as people nearby may not respond due t o too many false alarm s. (This type of sensor may not preve nt wheel theft, we therefore adv i se the fitment of locking wheel nuts)
GLASS BREAK SENSOR (M80G/GNZ models)
This sensor is designed to trigger the alarm by detect ing the sound of actual glass breakage. The sensitivity level is set by the i ns taller and should be at its optimum.
SENSOR DISABLE BY REMOTE (EXCEPT M80i)
There are times when you may wish to deact ivate sensors, such as the impac t sensor, to prevent false alarms. To turn sens ors off (any attached sens or will be disabled), but ar m the bonnet, boot and doors and immobili se the engine, press button one followed b y button two. You will hear the siren chirp for arming followed by a tone indic ating the sensors are turned off. The sensor is reactivated upon subsequent arming.
INTRUSION ALERT & LED DIAGNOSTICS
Upon disarming, if the s iren chirps 4 times and the indicators flash 3 times the system tells you that it has been triggered. The LED flash codes on page 11 show which c i rc ui t has been triggered.

OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES GPS TRACKING
Mongoose can provide var ious GPS tracking options whether it is to recover a stolen vehicl e or for vehicle and people management. Mongoose offers models that are completely controlled and monitored by an iPhone or similar, or vi a our GPRS webs it e, provi de data a nd route loggi ng wi th ful l reporting options.
GSM TEXT PAGER (MTP4)
If your alarm is activated or your vehicle battery runs low, the text pager will sends you an alert message to your mobile phone.
ULTRASONIC SENSOR (MUM 80)
The ultrasonic sensor f ill the interior of your vehicle with high frequ ency sound and is designed to trigger the alarm when the interior environment changes. Possible changes are the breaking or removal of glass, a door being opened, or ev en strong wind through a slightly open window. Ultrasonic’s are not rec ommended for soft top vehicles or vehicles where air movement is likely within the vehicle.
MICROWAVE SENS OR (M M W80 D)
The microwave sensor is designed to trigger the alarm when a microwav e f i el d registers physical movement. 2 fields are generated, one out s i de the vehicle to give perimet er prot ection, and one inside to give interior protection.
Note: As the microwave produces circular protective fields, some areas of large vehicles may not be protected.
ELECTRONIC TILT SENSOR (MTS2000)
These sensors are designed to trigger the alarm system if it registers a tilt of the vehicle greater than 2 degrees which could occur if the vehicle is jacked up to remove the wheels.
9
BATTERY BACK-UP SIREN (M80S/G/GNZ)
These models have a battery back-up siren. Vehicle battery disconnection will cause the battery back-up siren to sound. The siren c an be t urned of f wi t h t he special keys provided. The siren is mounted under t he bonnet and should be situated in a plac e to protect it from heat and water damage. Driving through deep water or puddles may cause water splashes, so caution is advised. Please check t hat the siren has been mounted in s uch a position so as to avoi d damaging it. If washing the engine bay, c over the siren with a plastic bag t o prevent water damage. Heat or water damage is not covered by the warranty.
AUTOMATI C RE-SET Upon an intrusion (ie; doo r opened and closed), the siren will s ound for 30 seconds, after which i t will stop and reset to the arm ed pos i tion. It wil l then re-t rigger on t he next intrusion. If a door is left open, t he siren will sound for 3 x 30 seconds and then that individual ci rcuit will be bypassed to avoid unnecessary noise. (NSW, one sounding only - must be manually re-set after first trigger)
ARM CONDITION MEMORY Should the vehicle batt ery be disconnected, the system memorises the las t set position of the alarm. If the alarm was disarm ed prior to battery disconnection, rec onnection does not cause t he alarm to sound. If the battery was disconnected whilst the system was armed, reconnection will return the system to the armed state.
NOISE POLLUTI ON CO NT ROL To reduce noise nuisanc e and possible fals e alarms, the system will isolate an indi vidual circuit i f it is triggered more than three times in succession or is left open. (Eg: 3 x bonnet, 3 x boot, 3 x doors, 3 x ignition, 3 x impact sensor, 3 x other sensor) Reset by remote by disarming and then re-arming. Turn ignition ON/OFF to re-set LED intrusion codes.
10
INDICATOR FLASHING When the siren sounds, the indi cators flash simultaneously. The indicators will als o flash on arming and disarming the system.
a) 1 Flash - Armed. b) 2 Flash - Disarmed. c) 3 Flash - Di s arm ed and previously triggered. d) On permanently – Open c i rc ui t after arming, or Perimeter Nite Lite i s on
DASH MOUNTED LED WARNING LIGHT
The LED shows the status of the alarm , intrusion and any open circuit when arm ing.
a) Fast flashing - 30 second countdown of automatic functions. b) Slow flashing - system armed. c) LE D of f - system of f, s houl d onl y oc c ur i f the vehicle battery is flat. d) On permanently - in remote code learning mode. e) 1 flash, pause, 1 flash, etc - bonnet is open or triggered. f) 2 flash, pause, 2 flash, etc - boot i s open or triggered. g) 3 flash, pause, 3 flash, etc - a door is open or triggered. h) 4 flash, pause, 4 flash, etc - impact sensor (white sensor port) has been triggere d. i) 5 flash, pause, 5 flash, etc - engine start attempted. j) 6 flas h, pause, 6 flash, etc - glass break (green sensor port) triggered.
WHAT THE CHIRPS MEAN
a) 1 Chirp - Arm. b) 1 Chirp/short siren - Indic ates an open c i rc ui t during arming. c) 2 Chirps - Disarmed. d) 4 Chirps - Disarming and indicates that the alarm has been triggered. e) Continual chirps - Igniti on has been turned on when the engine is immobil ised.
11
PANIC BY REMOTE (in eit her armed or disarmed state) In the event of personal attack, or you suspec t that your vehicle is being tampered with, the alarm can be ‘panicked’ by pres sing butt ons one and two at the same tim e on the remot e for more than 3 seconds. The siren will s ound and the indicators will flash. Cancel the panic, by pressi ng bot h but t ons again. Pressing button one whils t the siren is sounding will either arm or disarm the system depending on the prior armed/disarm ed st at e.
VEHICLE LIGHTS ON WARNING
If the lights are on when you arm the system, the siren will chirp once and then briefly produces a different sound as a warning. If you intended to leave the light s on, ignore this warning. This helps to prevent your car battery going flat if you accidentally left the vehicle lights on when exiting your vehicle.
AUXILIARY CHANNEL 2 OUT PUT (EG: BOOT RELEASE) – OPTI ON AL CONNECTION The system has an auxiliary pulse output which can be used, for example, to control a vehicle’s electric boot release (f the vehicle is equipped). The out put can be used for other purpos es, please discuss with your installer. This will usually incur additional charges.
Example of remote boot release;
Press button two on the remote for 3 seconds and t he boot wil l unl ock and open The boot trigger circuit and int eri or s ensors (if fitted) will be bypassed Upon closing the boot the bypass ed circuits will re-arm automatically
12
PROGRAMMABLE OPTIONS
These should only be changed by your installer.
AUTOMATIC (LAST DOO R) ARMING (default = OFF) – also OFF when turbo timer is on
When programmed ON, the alarm will arm automatically 30 seconds af ter the last door is closed.
If the engine immobilises prior to the opening and closing of a door, this feature will
commence and the LED will f ast flash when you close the last door.
The doors will not lock t o prevent the keys being lock ed inside unless option 2 above is
also turned on.
AUTOMATIC DOOR LOC K (d efau lt = OFF) - also OFF when turbo timer is on
The doors will lock autom atic al l y 30 seconds after the last door is closed. WARNING: DO NOT LEAV E THE KEYS IN THE CAR ! This feature only operates if ‘ l ast door arming’ above has been programm ed ON.
IGNITION SAFETY DOOR LOCK (default = OF F ) - also OFF when turbo timer is on
If the system has been connected to a vehicl es’ central locking, the doors will lock 3 seconds after the ignition is switc hed ‘on’ and unloc k immediately when the ignition is turned ‘off’. If a door is left open whilst starti ng t he engi ne t hi s feature will be bypassed.
SIREN CHIRPS (defau lt = ON)
The chirps can be permanently turned off . Only the indicat ors confi rm the arm ing and disarm ing. W e suggest that you use the ‘silent arming by remote’ feature as an alternative to turning them off permanently as it is des irable for the system to chirp in public pl aces to warn others that you have a security device fitt ed to your vehi c l e. The siren chirp for the automatic engine immobiliser cannot be turned of f .
13
NSW SIREN TIMING (default = OFF)
It is a mandatory requirement i n New S out h Wales, Australia, for vehicle al arm systems to sound the siren for one cycle of 30 seconds only before it is re-set manually by remote control. With this feature turned on, the indicators will flash for any subsequent trigger.
PERIMETER NITE-LITE (default = OFF)
Upon disarming, the indicators will stay permanently lit for 15 seconds to provide perimeter illumination. Ask the inst aller to verify that the power consumption of all the indicat ors is within the tolerance of this product- maximum 8 amps per side.
SIREN/HORN OUTPUT (default = siren)
This programme allows f or connec tion to a vehicle horn. The output is then puls ed.
DOOR DIAGNOSTICS (d efau lt = ON)
This is factory set to ON. If for exam ple a door is left open when arming, the siren chirps once for ARM then after a short paus e, c hirps a sec ond tim e to signi fy a circ uit i s open. Som e vehic les which have ‘dome light delay’ may give a fals e signal – this feature should then be prog ram med OFF.
TURBO TIMER RUN TIME (defau lt = 2 minutes)
This allows an engine to rem ain running from it s bu ilt-in timer. The programme allows for an engine running time of 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 mi nutes. This programme only adjus ts the engine running time, see page 7 for on/off function
COURIER MODE / TURB O I NT ERFACE FUNCTION (default = O F F )
This allows the alarm to be armed with the engine running by an aftermarket turbo timer or to al l ow for applications such as ‘courier run on’. An alarm trigger will stop the engine immediately.
14
ROLLING CODE (RANDO M ENCRYPTION) REMOT E CONTROLS
Two remote controls are supplied with the s ystem which enabl e you to arm and disarm your s ecuri ty system.
The remote security code of your alarm system changes each time you press the remote button. This coding system is referred to as Rolling Code and is completely random therefore eliminating the possibility of anyone recordi ng i t (c ode grabbi ng).
The batteries in the remote controls should be changed when you notice any of the following;
System does not respond to the remot e signal Operation is intermittent Reduced operating range The remote LED fails to light
Replace batteries annually. Uses CR2032 If the remote gets wet due to submersion, immediately dismantle, remove the battery and dry as
soon as possible. If submersed in salt water, rinse in fresh water and dry. Water ingress and any subsequent remote failure is not covered under the warranty terms.
CODE LEARNING NEW REMOTES TO YOUR ALARM
The main alarm module has a l earning capacity to memorise up to four rem ote controls. If you wish to add further rem otes or a rem ote has t o be replaced, the new rem ot e needs t o be code learnt into the main module. If for instance you have lost a remote and are fearful that som eone may try to use it, the lost remote can be deleted f rom memory so it cannot be used. An irregular or interruption to the vehicle’s power s upply may cause loss of remote memory. If your alarm fails to respond to the remote try re-learning them, or s ee your Mongoos e dealer.
