OPERATING YOUR VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM
REMOTE CONTROL KEY - 2 BUTTON
Two remote cont rol keys are s upplied with the system whic h enable you to arm and disarm your securit y system. One remote control should be kept with your car keys and the other with your spare car k eys in a s afe place.
CENTRAL LOCKING - KEYLESS ENTRY*
This security system has built-in relays to cont rol c entral loc k i ng system s . T he system i s program m able t o operate standard electric or vac uum systems. * Certain vehicles may require additional parts to enable the correct use of this feature. These parts are not included in this system. Kits are available to convert vehicles wit h manual door locks to electric operation.
ENGINE IMMOBIL I SER This security system i s equipped with a built-in engine immobil iser to prevent engine starting when the system has been armed by the remot e cont rol or by the programm abl e autom at ic last door arm ing feat ure. T he authoris ed installer of this product should have advised you which circuit has been immobilised. A typical circuit to immobilis e would be t he starter motor, ignition coil or electric fuel pump.
ARMING
Before arming t he system, turn off and remove the keys from the i gni t i on. Cl ose all windows and doors. Check that the bonnet and boot are also closed. The system is arm ed by depressing button one mom entarily (approx.’ 1.5 seconds). It is i mportant to press the button for t he recom mended tim e as a shorter durati on may not activat e the system. You will notice the indicators f l ash once and the siren chirps once t o indi cate that the system is armed. The dash mounted warning light, LE D, will slow flash to indic ate armed mode. If your vehicle has central loc king, and it has been connected to this security system, the doors will lock at the same time as arming.

VEHICLE ‘LIGHT S ON’ WARNING WHEN ARMING THE SYSTEM If the vehicles li ght s are ‘ON’ when you arm the alarm, the siren wil l emit a warning sound before the arm chirp.
AUTOMATIC - LAST DOOR ARMING (PROGRAMMABLE)
The system c an be programmed t o arm automat ically 20 seconds after closing t he last door (or bonnet or boot). Opening a door within 20 seconds will s uspend the countdown and recommence on door closure.
DOORS, BONNET AND BOOT PROTECTION The siren will sound and the indicators will f l ash for 30 seconds should any of these be opened when the syst em is armed. The system requires your vehicle to be fitted with courtesy door light switches . Fitting door switches will incur extra costs i f not standard in your vehicle.
IMPACT SENSOR - 2 STAGE The sensor is designed t o detect major vehi cle movement (sharp s hock) such as im pact, vehicle towing c ausing shock, or viol ent glass breakage. I t may also be triggered by shock waves produced from loud exhausts, t hunder and heavy vehicle traffic. It should not be triggered by normal wind or rocking moti ons. If the sensor receives a light impact the siren fast chirps for a few s econds. It sounds full y for 20 sec onds if it detects a heavy impact. The sensitivit y level is set by the installer and shoul d be at its optimum . Over sensitivity can cause false alarms . The shock sensor will not soun d the si r en i f i t has b een byp assed by th e remote.
SHOCK SENSOR BYPASS
The shock s ens or can be bypassed t o prevent fals e alarm s . A rm the s ystem and withi n 5 sec onds pres s t he same button again.

The siren will sound for 5 to 30 s econds, dependi ng on the circ uit triggered, after which it will stop and reset to the armed position. It wi l l t hen re-t ri gger on the next intrusion or if a circ uit was left open.
PANIC In the event of personal attac k, the alarm c an be ‘panicked’ for 6 sec onds by pressing remote control button one for more than 2 seconds. Holdi ng down t he remote button causes the pani c to be continuous. Panic mode does not operate wit h the ignition on or if the system i s disarmed.
ELECTRONIC SIREN (M20S has a battery b ack-up siren)
This is mounted under the bonnet and must be sit uated in a place to protect i t from heat and water damage such as driving through deep water or engine cleaning. I t must be mounted wit h t he siren pointing down. If washing the engine bay, cover the siren with a plastic bag to prevent damage. Heat or water damage is not covered by the warranty.
INDICATORS LIGHTS FLASHING When t he si ren sounds , t he indic ators flas h. I f ‘ short ed’, t he siren c onti nues t o sound. The indic ators will als o flash on arming and disarming the system.
ARM CONDITION MEMORY Should the vehicle batt ery be disconnected, the system memorises t he last set positi on of the alarm. If the alarm was disarmed, reconnection does not cause the alarm to sound. If the battery was disconnected whilst armed, reconnection will cause the system to trigger. To cancel, disarm with the remote control. (Vehicle battery disconnection will c ause the opti onal battery back -up siren to s ound - this is turned off at the siren with the speci al key provided)

SECURITY RE-ARM (& RE-LOCK)
The alarm will autom atically re-arm if it has been dis armed by remote but the doors hav e not been opened within 20 seconds. Doors also re-loc k if central locking connected.
(This feature may not be operative if your vehicle has dome light supervision or is enabled by this product)
IGNITION SAFETY DOOR LOCK - PROGRAMMABLE
If the system has been c onnected to a vehicle with central lock ing, the doors will lock 20 seconds after ignition ‘on’ and unlock with igni tion ‘off’. If a door is lef t open during engine starting, the safety door lock feature will be inoperative when the door is closed. 8
ROLLING CODE REMOTE CO NT ROL S
The security code of your alarm system changes each time you press the remote button. This coding system is completely random therefore el im inat ing the pos si bili ty of recording i t (code grabbi ng). As there are billions of code combinations the chances of duplication are l iterally billions to one. Additional rem ote controls may be added as the alarm module can memorise up to four remote controls.
REMOTE CODE LEARNING
The main alarm module has a learning capacity to memorise the remote controls programmed into it. The two remote controls s upplied have different ID codes to eac h other, muc h like the PIN number on a credit card except that the ID code also has an addit i onal ‘rol l i ng c ode’ gi ving billions of code combinations.
If you wish to add further remotes, or a rem ote has to be replaced, t he new remot e needs to be memori sed by the alarm system. If you have lost a remot e and are fearful that someone m ay try to use it, the lost rem ote can be deleted from memory to mak e t he l ost remote inactiv e. An irregular or interruption to the power supply may caus e loss of memory. If your alarm fails to respond to the remote try re-learning them.
TO LEARN A NEW REMOTE T O YOUR ALARM:
a) Disarm the system by remot e or t he override method described on the previous page. b) Turn on the ignition so the dashboard warning light s are on. c) Press the override swi t ch for 5 seconds until the si ren chirps 5 times to indi c ated learning mode. d) Press any button on any existing remote. Siren chirps once indicat i ng it has memorised the f i rst remote. e) Then press any button on any other remote, the siren chi ps twice as confirm at i on. This procedure can be repeated for up to 4 rem otes. Leave the system for 10 seconds and the learning mode is completed.
When learning a remote(s), all previous remotes are erased from memory.
9
DEFECTIVE ZONE BYPASS If any door, the bonnet or boot has been left open when armi ng, the siren will emit a warning aft er a 30 second delay. The open circuit will then be bypassed. The alarm will re-arm an open c i rcuit when it is closed.
SECURITY OPTIONS - ask your installer for more details
DOME LIGHT SUPERVISION (Optional)
The system prov ides the fac ility for dome light s upervision. Upon disarm ing, the interior light will i lluminate for 30 seconds which is c anc el l ed upon i gnition on. The interior light will als o f l ash during an intrusion. NOTE: The fitting of t hi s option may make the ‘security re-arm (& re-lock )’ f eat ure i noperat i ve.
BATTERY BACK-UP SIREN (Standard on M20S) In place of the standard siren, a battery back-up vers ion gives added protect ion against unlawf ul disconnect ion of the vehicles batt ery or power connec tion t o the s iren. A ny attem pt t o do so wil l tri gger the si rens own bat tery back up. The only way to cancel this is with the special key supplied as it i s designed to sound continuously.
ULTRASONIC SENSOR (optional) An ultrasonic sensor fills the interior of your vehic le with high frequency sound and is designed to trigger the alarm when the interior environm ent changes. Possible changes are the break ing or removal of glass, a door being opened, or even strong wind through a slight l y open window.
MICROWAVE SENSOR
(optional)
The microwave sens or is designed to trigger the alarm when a microwave fiel d registers physical movem ent. 2 fields are generated, one outside the vehicle to give perimeter protection, and one inside to give interior protection. Intrus ion into the perimet er area chirps the siren as a warning, whilst intrusion into the int erior fully sounds the siren.

TESTING YOUR ALARM
We strongly recommend that you test your alarm frequently. It takes only a short ti me and is very important to maximis e t he prot ection of your vehicle.
1. Arm the system . Wi thout disarming the system, just unlock the door with the ignition key and open the door. The alarm should sound and the indicators flas h. Check all the other doors , bonnet and boot by the same procedure.
2. Engine immobil i ser. Open the drivers window. Arm t he al arm. Without opening a door, reach in and try to st art the engine. It should not start.
3. Shock sens or. Arm the system. Chec k the shock sensor by giving the vehicle varying degrees of impact. The degree of force required to trigger the shock s ensor should have been set at the time of installati on. If it is adjusted too lightly, the siren will sound with only a light shoc k and cause too many false alarms. Adjust ed t oo heavily and the sensor may not be triggered. The adjustment is therefore critical and we suggest you see your installer who can adj ust it for your particular vehicle or your for your preference.
4. Remote controls. Every care should be taken as the remote controls supplied are us ed to operate the system. Do not get them wet, drop them on a hard surface or tam per with the internals. To ensure correct operation at all times, replace the battery with an 12v23a from your Mongoose dealer or electronic supply shop every 12 months.
Please contact your Mongoose dealer, i ns taller or re-seller should you have any difficulty in the use of this product. 11
