PLEASE READ AND OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING SAFETY POINTS AT ALL TIMES
WARNING – Power Sources
Do not plug your Monster HT UPS 1000 into a power outlet that differs
from the source indicated for safe use on the product. If you don’t know the type
of electrical power that is supplied to your home, please consult your local power company.
WARNING – Grounding and Polarization
Your Monster HT UPS 1000 has a three-wire grounding-type AC plug (a threeprong plug). This plug is designed to be inserted into a grounding-type outlet only.
If this plug doesn’t fit directly inside your outlet, do not attempt to force it into the outlet.
Contact a local electrician to install the proper polarized outlet. Never attempt to dismantle
the plug in any way (or to alter an extension cord) to make it fit into a two-prong outlet.
Do not attempt to defeat the grounding feature by using a 3-to-2 prong adapter.
Instead, call a local electrician to install a properly grounded outlet.
WARNING – Power Cord Safety
A. When routing your Monster HT UPS 1000 AC power cord, do not place
it near heavy foot traffic areas (e.g., hallways, doorways, and kitchen floors).
Do not create a trip hazard with the power cord.
B. If your power cord’s protective jacket begins to rip or fray, exposing
the internal wiring, shielding, etc., disconnect it from the power source
and discontinue use of the Monster HT UPS 1000 immediately.

CAUTION – Heat Ventilation
HT UPS 1000 requires a minimum of 1” clearance on all sides for adequate
ventilation and heat dissipation.
WARNING – Liquid: Avoiding Electrical Shocks
Do not operate your Monster HT UPS 1000 if liquid of any kind is spilled
onto or inside the unit. Do not operate the HT UPS 1000 near rain or water that’s spilled
or openly exposed (e.g., bathtub, kitchen or bathroom sink).
WARNING – Risk of Fire or Electric Shock
HT UPS 1000 is intended for installation in a controlled environment. To reduce the risk
of fire or shock, install HT UPS 1000 in a temperature and humidity controlled indoor area free
of conductive contaminants.
WARNING – De-Energizing HT UPS 1000
To de-energize HT UPS 1000 in an emergency, first switch the On/Off control
to the Off position. Then, unplug HT UPS 1000 from the wall outlet.
CAUTION – Exposure To Heat
Do not expose your Monster HT UPS 1000 to direct sunlight or place it near wall heaters,
space heaters, or any enclosed space prone to temperature increase (e.g., car trunk).
WARNING – Proper Cleaning
In general, the only cleaning necessary for your Monster HT UPS 1000 is a light dusting.
Unplug your component from the wall outlet before cleaning it. Do not use any type
of liquid or aerosol cleaners.
WARNING – Medical Conditions/Life Support Applications
Use of HT UPS 1000 in any life support application where failure of this equipment
can reasonably be expected to cause the failure of the life support equipment
or to significantly affect its safety or effectiveness is NOT recommended.
WARNING – No User Serviceable Parts Inside
If, for any reason, your Monster HT UPS 1000 is not operating properly, do not remove any
part of the unit (cover, batteries, etc.) for repair. Unplug the unit and either consult this owner’s
manual for warranty and service information, or contact your original Monster Power retailer
for repair and service information. Do not try to replace the battery inside HT UPS 1000.
Contact the retailer or Monster Cable for service detail.
INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing Monster Power’s Home Theatre Uninterruptible
Power Supply HT UPS 1000. HT UPS 1000 is designed to maintain constant
power to your home theatre system, even during power outages, while
also ensuring that the voltage your system components receives does not
exceed or fall below safe levels.
Today’s high-end home theatre systems rely on constant power
to maintain important system functions. Even during brief power outages,
your home theater system can suffer damage, ranging from lost memory

settings and data to physical component damage caused by incorrect
turn-on sequencing that may occur when utility power is restored.
HT UPS 1000’s 28,000mAH internal backup battery supply maintains
voltage to your system during power outages, ensuring that you do not lose

settings or memory, while also protecting your equipment from costly
damage due to an incorrect turn-on sequence.

HT UPS 1000 also features an Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) which
prevents the voltage supplied to your home theater system from going
outside of safe system operating specifications. When the AVR senses
voltage sags or a voltage overload, it automatically engages to stabilize
power levels to prevent damage and compromised system performance
that may occur from these conditions.
With HT UPS 1000, all of your high-powered home theater equipment
will operate at peak performance regardless of sudden power outages,
with added protection from further damage provided by HT UPS 1000’s
AVR and surge/spike protection. Thank you again for your purchase

HT UPS 1000 – FRONT & BACK PANEL FEATURES
HT UPS 1000 – HOOKUP AND OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Line OK Indicator: The Line OK Indicator LED illuminates
when HT UPS 1000 is switched on and is providing conditioned
utility power to the outlets. When first switched on, HT UPS 1000
will perform a self-test for up to 8 seconds.
2. Backup Indicator: The Backup Indicator LED illuminates
when backup battery supply is in use.
3. Battery Fault Indicator: The Battery Fault Indicator LED
illuminates when HT UPS 1000’s batteries are no longer reliable
and must be replaced (contact your Monster retailer).
4. On/Off/KickStart Button: Press and hold for a minimum
of 3 seconds to provide AC power and power loss protection
for connected components.
5. Power Line Input: For connection of included IEC AC
power line. A 250V AC fuse is housed in the power line input.
6. Power Loss Protected Outlets [For 4 HT UPS 1000 Outlets]:
Provide AC power under normal conditions, or 10-120 minutes
of reserve battery power under power loss conditions,
to Monster PowerCenters and connected components.
7. Auxiliary Outlets: Supply conditioned non-backup power
to two additional components.
8. Emergency KickStart Circuitry: Enables you to power
connected equipment with Monster’s backup batteries,
even if HT UPS 1000 is turned off and utility power has failed.
9. Audible Alarm: Alarm sounds when battery backup power
is in use, battery reserve is low, or an overload condition
is apparent (see appendix below for more information).
10. AVR Automatic Voltage Regulator: Maintains constant
voltage for optimal home theatre system operating conditions.
NOTE
HT UPS 1000 does not need to be plugged into a “live” outlet
to operate. However, to maximize battery life, we recommend plugging
HT UPS 1000 into a properly grounded, three-prong AC power outlet.
In addition, Monster Power recommends charging the batteries
for at least twenty-four hours prior to using HT UPS 1000. To recharge
the batteries, simply plug your HT UPS 1000 into an AC outlet
and switch it on.
STEP 1 Powering Your HT UPS 1000
and Connected Equipment
A) Plug your Monster Power HTS PowerCenter or A/V equipment
into the outlets on the rear of HT UPS 1000. Plug the equipment
you would like to protect from power loss into the surge-protected,
battery backup-supplied outlets. Plug all other equipment
into the surge-protected-only auxiliary outlets. Ensure that your
HT UPS 1000 is plugged into an appropriate AC outlet. For the best
possible home theatre performance, plug HT UPS 1000 into a Monster
Power AVS Automatic Voltage Stabilizer.
C) Switch the On/Off controls of all connected system equipment
to the On position.
D) In the event of a utility power failure, you can still operate your
HT UPS 1000, even if the unit was turned off during the power failure.
To activate Monster’s Emergency KickStart circuitry, press down
and hold the On button continuously for 5 seconds. The Line OK LED
will illuminate when KickStart is functional. Under back-up operation,
HT UPS 1000 will beep slowly. You can turn off the beeping
by pressing the On/Off/Kickstart button once.
STEP 2 Turning Off Your HT UPS 1000
and Connected Equipment
A) Switch all equipment On/Off controls to the Off position
and unplug them from HT UPS 1000.
B) Turn off HT UPS 1000, and unplug it from your Monster Power AVS
unit or the wall outlet to ensure its Off condition.

B) Turn on your HT UPS 1000 by pressing and holding down the On
button for 3 seconds. This safety feature prevents accidental turn-on.
After 3 seconds, all the outlets will be powered. Upon turn-on,
HT UPS 1000 will perform a self-test function for up to 8 seconds.
After the test is completed, the Line OK LED will illuminate, confirming
that there is adequate power to the connected loads. Always keep
HT UPS 1000 plugged into a live outlet or your Monster Power AVS
unit to keep the battery charged.

TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM – HT UPS 1000 is not receiving power.
POSSIBLE CAUSE #1 - HT UPS 1000 is not turned on.
SOLUTIONS
• Make sure HT UPS 1000’s AC power plug is plugged into a properly
grounded 120V wall outlet, and press the ON button for three seconds
to turn on the unit.
• In some households, a wall switch may need to be thrown to make
the wall outlet come alive. Try turning on the light switches located
near the wall outlet powering HT UPS 1000.
Possible Cause #2 - Battery voltage less than 10V
(contact your Monster Power dealer).
SOLUTION
• Recharge HT UPS 1000’s batteries for at least 6 hours.
Possible Cause #3 - HT UPS 1000 is defective.
SOLUTION
• Please see warranty information.
PROBLEM – HT UPS 1000 is always in battery mode.
Possible Cause #1 - Power cord is loose.
SOLUTION
• Ensure that the power cord is firmly plugged into the back of the unit
and the AC wall outlet.
Possible Cause #2 - AC fuse is blown.
SOLUTION
• Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet and remove
and replace the 250V AC fuse.
Possible Cause #3 - HT UPS 1000 is defective.
SOLUTION
• Please see warranty information.
PROBLEM – Backup Time Too Short
Possible Cause #1 - Battery not fully charged.
SOLUTION
• Recharge HT UPS 1000’s batteries for at least 6 hours
Possible Cause #2 – HT UPS 1000 is defective or home theatre system
total draw is higher than 300W.
SOLUTION
• Please see warranty information.
• Make sure the total system for backup is less than 300W.
PROBLEM – Alarm beeps continuously
Possible Cause #1 - Overload condition apparent.
SOLUTION
• Remove some of the loads connected to HT UPS 1000
until alarm ceases.
NOTE: It is normal for HT UPS 1000 to feel hot to the touch
during normal or back-up operation. This heat is generated
by the batteries inside the unit.
