SUBJECT: SUNROOF INOPERATIVE
PURPOSE
On some affected vehicles, the sunroof may become inoperative, remaining in the open position. This condition is likely due to water traveling over thesunroof drive cables and damaging the sunroof control unit.
To eliminate this condition and help to prevent future reoccurrence, apply a water insoluble grease to the sunroof drive cables, apply butyl rubber to theguide rail and guide rail rod holder, and replace the sunroof control unit.

Procedure
1. Remove the front section of the headliner assembly as described in section 52A of the appropriate Eclipse service manual.

2. Remove the sunroof control unit.
3. Remove the sunroof glass.
4.
Confirm proper sunroof drainage at the drain holes by pouring a small amount of water into the front of the sunroof. If the water does not flowthrough easily, remove any leaves or other debris from the drain holes.
5. Manually close the sunroof frame.

6. Remove the sunroof drive motor.
Perform steps 7 through 14 for one side at a time.
7. Remove the guide rail rod holder as follows:
a. Manually move the sunroof frame to the appropriate position to allow the guide rail rod holder to be removed.
b. Remove the two guide rail rod holder attaching screws at the front of the sunroof.
c. Tilt the upper portion of the guide rail to the inside, then remove the guide rail rod holder.
8. Remove the drive cable from the guide rail by first pulling the cable up, then pulling the cable out from the guide rail.
9.
Inspect the drive cable. If the cable is wet, dry with a soft cloth. If rust is visible on the cable, replace the cable with the appropriate part listed inthe PARTS INFORMATION section of this bulletin.
10.
Using a small brush, apply a water insoluble grease (Loctite SuperLube 82328 or equivalent) to the surfaces of the cable. Be sure to thoroughlycoat the entire cable surface.
11. Reinstall the drive cable.

Apply butyl rubber (3M Part No. 8610 or equivalent) between the guide rail rod holder and the rail as shown. Be sure to make a complete sealaround the drain tubes.
13. Remove any excess grease from the sunroof, guide rail and drive motor.

14. Reinstall the guide rail rod holder.
15. Repeat steps 7 through 14 for the other side of the sunroof.
16. Reinstall the sunroof glass. Be sure the glass is properly adjusted (flush with glass seal and without gaps).
17. With the sunroof in the fully closed position reinstall the sunroof drive motor.
: CAUTION
Be sure that the motor insert clip located over the drive gear area is in place before installing the drive motor. If the clip is not in place, the sunroofcable or gear may disengage, or the motor may not operate properly.
18. Install a new sunroof control unit as follows:
a. Move the sunroof to the fully closed position.
b. Adjust the control unit timing by turning the rotating wheel until both white marks appear in the viewing windows at the same time.
c. Attach the control unit to the sunroof tray bracket.

Secure the control unit to the bracket by wrapping a plastic tie wrap around the middle of the control unit and through the slot on thebracket. After tightening the tie wrap, cut off any excess tie wrap material.
19. Confirm that the sunroof operates correctly.

20. Reinstall the headliner assembly as described in section 52A of the appropriate Eclipse service manual.

ABS RELAY INSPECTION
1. Remove the splash shield
2. Remove the relay box mounting bolts.
3. Insert the tip of a screwdriver into the space between the hydraulic unit and the relay box cover and use it to open the tab at one place, and thenremove the cover.
4. Take out all of the relays from the relay box and check the continuity between the terminals when power is not supplied and when power is supplied.

SUBJECT:REPROGRAMMING WITH THE MUT-III
PURPOSE
This bulletin contains general instructions for reprogramming a vehicle PCM using the MUT-Ill vehicle communication interface (VCI) unit. Beforebeginning reprogramming, you must first transfer the reprogramming data to a PC memory card adapter equipped with a compact flash memory chip.New data is transferred from a DVD to the PC hard drive, then to the PC memory card. After data is in the memory card, it can be downloaded to theVCI, then to the vehicle's PCM (ECU).
The MUT-III is capable of both automatic reprogramming (it automatically selects the appropriate database) and manual reprogramming (you select thedatabase). Automatic reprogramming is recommended for most typical reprogramming situations. If automatic reprogramming is not successful, trymanual reprogramming.

All models capable of PCM reprogramming, except 1995-99 Eclipse 2.0L non-turbo (For 1995-99 Eclipse 2.0L non-turbo models, use M1T992000-Aand refer to the applicable TSB.)
I. Transferring Reprogramming Data to Memory Card

Before beginning reprogramming, you must first transfer new reprogramming data from a DVD to a PC memory card adapter equipped with a compactflash memory chip. The data is transferred from the DVD-ROM to the PC hard drive, then to the PC memory card.

Procedure
1. Start the MUT-III personal computer.
2. Start the MUT-III system.
3. Install the memory card into the card adaptor.
4. Install the card adapter into the PC card slot. (There are two PC card slots. You can use either slot for the card adapter.)
A "Found New Hardware" message displays on the monitor. Wait for the message to disappear.
