There are three possible relationships between two stations that are communicating by means of

Initiator (station that sends a connection request to another station) and
responder (station that sends

Client (station that sends a confirmed service request

another station) and receiver (station that receives unconfirmed service
requests from another station).
The role of an AJ71 PB96 is determined by the master/slave station opera-
tion mode selection.

Communication with an AJ71 PB96 starts with the transmission of the initiate service from the client; then, after a normal connection has been made,
data is exchanged with the PC CPU by using services such as

To release the connection and end communication, the Abort service is
transmitted.
All the communication types below, which are regulated by PROFIBUS, can
be used with the AJ71
