WARNING!
The vibra tion emission level g iven in this inform ation sheet has be en measured in accord ance with a standar dised test given i n
BS EN 60745 and may be used t o compare one tool wi th another. It may be used f or a preliminary a ssessment of exp osure.
The decla red vibration emi ssion level repres ents the main appl ications of the too l. However if the tool is u sed for dierent a pplications,
with di erent accessori es or poorly maint ained, the vibrat ion emission may die r. This may sign icantly incre ase the exposure l evel over
the total working period.
An estima tion of the level of ex posure to vibrati on should also take int o account the times w hen the tool is switc hed o or when it is
running b ut not actually doi ng the job. This may signi cantly reduce t he exposure level o ver the total workin g period.
Identif y additional s afety measure s to protect the op erator from the e ects of vibr ation such as: maint ain the tool and the acce ssories,
keep the han ds warm, organisat ion of work patter ns.

DIE GRINDER SAFETY WARNINGS
Safety warnings common for grinding:
a) This powe r tool is intende d to function as a g rinder.
Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations and
specications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow
all instr uctions liste d below may result in ele ctric shock , re and/
or serious injury.
b) Operations such as sanding, wire brushing, polishing or
cutting-o are not recommended to be performed with this
power too l. Operations for w hich the power tool w as not designed
may create a ha zard and cause pe rsonal injury.
c) Do not use accessories which are not specically
designed and recommended by the tool manufacturer. Just
becaus e the accessory c an be attached t o your power tool, it doe s
not assure safe operation.
d) The rated s peed of the grin ding accessor ies must be at
least eq ual to the maxim um speed marked o n the power
tool. Gri nding accessori es running faste r than their rated sp eed
can break and y apart.
e) The outs ide diameter an d the thicknes s of your accessory m ust be within the c apacity ra ting of your power to ol.
Incorre ctly sized acces sories cannot be a dequately contro lled.
h
f) The ar bour size of whee ls, sanding dr ums or any other
accesso ry must prop erly t the spin dle or collet of th e power tool. Accessories t hat do not match the mou nting hardware of
the power to ol will run out of bala nce, vibrate excessi vely and may
cause los s of control.
g) Mandrel mounted wheels, sanding drums, cutters or
other acc essories mus t be fully inser ted into the col let or
chuck. If the man drel is insucient ly held and/or the overh ang of
the wheel i s too long, the mounte d wheel may become lo ose and
be ejec ted at high velocit y.
h) D o not use a damage d accessory. Be fore each use i nspect
the acces sory such as a brasive whee ls for chips and c racks,
sandi ng drum for cra cks, tear or exce ss wear, wire brus h for
loose or c racked wire s. If power tool or ac cessory is dr opped,
inspect for damage or install an undamaged accessory. After
inspecting and installing an accessory, position yourself and
bystan ders away from t he plane of the r otating acces sory
and run th e power tool at max imum no-loa d speed for one
minute. Damaged accessories will normally break apar t during this
test time.
i) Wear personal protective equipment. Depending on application, use face shield, safety goggles or safety glasses. As
appropriate, wear dust mask, hearing protectors, gloves and
shop apron capable of stopping small abrasive or workpiece
fragments. The eye p rotection mus t be capable of s topping ying

j) Kee p bystander s a safe dista nce away from work a rea. Anyone entering the work area must wear personal protective
equipment. Fragments of wo rkpiece or of a br oken accessory m ay
y away and cau se injury beyo nd immediate area of o peration.
k) Ho ld the power tool b y insulated gr ipping surf aces only,
when performing an operation where the cutting accessory
may contact hidden wiring.Cutting access ory contac ting a “live”
wire may make e xposed metal p arts of the powe r tool “live” and
could give t he operator an elec tric shock.
l) A lways hold the to ol rmly in your h and(s) during the
star t-up. The reac tion torque of t he motor, as it accelerate s to full
speed, c an cause the tool to t wist.
m) Use clamps to support workpiece whenever practical.
Never hold a s mall workpie ce in one hand and t he tool in the
other ha nd while in use. Cla mping a small workp iece allows you
to use your ha nd(s) to control the tool. R ound material suc h as dowel
rods, pip es or tubing have a tend ency to roll while b eing cut, and may
cause the b it to bind or jump towa rd you.
n) Never lay the power tool down until the accessory has
come to a com plete stop. The s pinning accesso ry may grab the
surfa ce and pull the power to ol out of your contr ol.
D

o) Af ter changing the bits or making any adjustments, make
sure the c ollet nut, chu ck or any other adj ustment devi ces are
securely tightened. Loose adjustment devices can unexpectedly
shift , causing loss of con trol, loose rota ting component s will be
violently thrown.
p) Do not run t he power tool whi le carryi ng it at your side.
Accident al contact wit h the spinning acces sory could snag yo ur
clothing, pulling the accessory into your body.
q) Re gularly cle an the power tool ’s air vents. The moto r’s fan
will draw th e dust inside the ho using and excessi ve accumulation of
powdered m etal may cause ele ctrical haz ards.
r) Do not operate the power tool near ammable materials.
Sparks c ould ignite thes e materials.
s) Do not use accessories that require liquid coolants. Using
water or oth er liquid coolant s may result in elec trocution or s hock.
Kickb ack and relate d warnings
Kickba ck is a sudden react ion to a pinched or sna gged rotating
wheel, sa nding band, brush or a ny other accessor y. Pinching or
snagging c auses rapid sta lling of the rotatin g accessory whi ch
in turn ca uses the uncontro lled power tool to be f orced in the
direction opposite of the accessory’s rotation.
For examp le, if an abrasive whe el is snagged or pinch ed by the
workpie ce, the edge of the whe el that is entering in to the pinch
point can d ig into the surfa ce of the material cau sing the wheel
to climb out o r kick out. The whe el may either jump towar d or
away from the operator, depending on direction of the wheel’s
movement at t he point of pinchin g. Abrasive wheels m ay also break
under these conditions.
Kickba ck is the result of powe r tool misuse and/or inc orrect oper ating proc edures or conditi ons and can be avoide d by taking proper
precau tions as given below.
a) Mainta in a rm grip on the p ower tool and posi tion your
body and a rm to allow you to re sist kickbac k forces The opera
tor can cont rol kickback f orces, if proper pr ecautions are t aken.
b) Use special care when working corners, sharp edges etc.
Avoid bouncing and snagging the accessory. Corners, sharp
edges or b ouncing have a tendenc y to snag the rotati ng accessory
and cause l oss of control or kic kback.
c) Do n ot attach a too thed saw blade. Such blades create fr equent
kickba ck and loss of contr ol.
d) Always feed the bit into the material in the same direc
tion as th e cutting edge i s exiting fro m the material (whi ch
is the sam e directio n as the chips are th rown). Feeding the to ol
in the wron g direction ca uses the cutti ng edge of the bit to cli mb out
of the work an d pull the tool in the di rection of this f eed.
e) When usi ng rotary le s, always have the wor k securely
clamped. These whe els will grab if they b ecome slightly can ted
in the groo ve, and can kickbac k. When a cut-o whe el grabs, the
wheel it self usually break s. When a rotar y le, high-speed c utter or
tungste n carbide cutt er grabs, it may jump f rom the groove and you
could lose c ontrol of the tool.
Safety warnings specic for grinding and abrasive cuttingo operations:
a) Use only w heel types th at are recomme nded for your
power tool and only for recommended applications. For ex
ample: do n ot grind with th e side of a cut-o whe el. Abrasive
cut-o wh eels are intended f or peripheral g rinding, side fo rces applied
to these wh eels may cause the m to shatter.
b) For threaded abrasive cones and plugs use only undama
ged wheel mandrels with an unrelieved shoulder ange that
are of cor rect size and l ength. Proper ma ndrels will reduce t he
possibi lity of breakage.
c) D o not “jam” a cut-o w heel or apply exc essive pressu re.
Do not att empt to make an exce ssive depth of cu t. Overstres
sing the whe el increases t he loading and susce ptibility to t wisting
or snaggin g of the wheel in the c ut and the possibi lity of kickba ck or
wheel bre akage.
d) D o not position yo ur hand in line wi th and behind t he
rotating wheel. When the whe el, at the point of op eration, is moving
away from yo ur hand, the possib le kickback may pr opel the spinnin g
wheel and t he power tool direc tly at you.
e) When wheel is pinched, snagged or when interrupting
a cut for a ny reason, swit ch o the power too l and hold the
power too l motionless un til the wheel co mes to a complet e
stop. Never a ttempt to rem ove the cut-o whee l from the cut
while th e wheel is in moti on otherwi se kickback m ay occur.
Investig ate and take correc tive action t o eliminate the caus e of wheel
pinching or snagging.
f) Do not r estart the c utting oper ation in the work piece. Let
the whee l reach full sp eed and caref ully re-en ter the cut. The
wheel may bi nd, walk up or kickb ack if the power too l is restarte d in
the workp iece.
g) Su pport pane ls or any oversize d workpiece to m inimize the
risk of w heel pinchin g and kickbac k. Large workp ieces tend to sag
under thei r own weight. Suppo rts must be pla ced under the work piece
near the lin e of cut and near the ed ge of the workpie ce on both sides
of the wheel.
h) U se extra cau tion when maki ng a “pocket cut ” into existi ng
walls or other blind areas. The protruding w heel may cut gas or
water pipe s, electric al wiring or objec ts that can ca use kickback .
