NOTICE
The casters on this cart have conductive rubber tires and a special Dow No. 41 lubricant was used to lubricate the swivel bearings to insure conductivity. The casters were tested by the caster manufacturer in accordance with NFPA56A and were certifi ed as being conductive when shipped.
To maintain conductivity, note the following:
1. Petroleum base grease is forbidden in fl ammable anesthetizing locations.
2. Use of excessive amounts of grease must be avoided. Grease accumulated on the conductive tires must be removed.
3. Buildup of fl oor wax, cleaners and dirt will cause the tires to loose their conductivity. Any buildup should be removed immediately.
CONDUCTIVITY TEST
Prior to placing this cart in service, and at intervals not to exceed one month; the electrical resistance of the casters must be measured. The measurement must be made using a calibrated ohmmeter, having a nominal open circuit output voltage of 500 volts direct current, and a short circuit current of fi ve milliampres with an effective internal resistance of 100,000 ohms, plus or minus 10,000 ohms (10%). The measurement must be made in an area where the fl oor is dry.
Place a copper plate under one caster, and electrically insulate the copper plate from the fl oor. Place one probe of the ohmmeter on the copper plate, and the other probe anywhere on the module. The ohmmeter must indicate no more than 250,000 ohms. Repeat the above test for the remaining three casters.
DISCLAIMER
InterMetro Industries Corporation accepts no responsibility for the conductivity of the casters on this unit. The casters are warranted by the manufacturer thereof; copy of certification of conductivity by manufacturer will be supplied upon request.
