2 General Safety Rules
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
1. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS - This
manual contains important safety and operating instructions for battery charger models
6.27304 (AC 30), 6.25277 (AC 30 Plus),
6.27091 (ACS 15), 6.27062 (ACS 15 Plus).
2. Before using battery charger, read all instructions and cautionary markings on battery charger, battery, and product using battery.
3. CAUTION - To reduce risk of injury, charge only Metabo rechargeable batteries. Other types of batteries may burst causing personal injury and damage.
Repairs to electrical tools must be carried out by a qualified electrician ONLY. Any Metabo electrical power tools in need of repair can be sent to one of the addresses listed on the second-last page or a Metabo Authroized Repair Center. Please accompany the tool for repair with a description of the fault. We reserve the right to make alterations in line with advances in technology.
WARNING
Unplug immediately if the cable is damaged! Unplug immediately if any sign of smoke or
flames! Do not submit the casing to impact!
Never attempt to charge batteries that are not rechargeable. Danger of explosion!
Do not drill into the casing! Keep away from children!
5
ENGLISH
Keep away from moisture! Chargers should only be operated between
32oF and 103oF (0 - 40°C). Batteries should only be charged when battery
temp is between 32oF and 120oF (0 - 50°C). Do not throw battery packs in a fire or immer-
se in water! Return faulty or used Metabo battery packs to
your dealer! Do not dispose of battery packs along with
domestic refuse. Please recycle! The charger is not suitable for charging non-
rechargeable batteries. Use indoors only. Do not expose to rain. All ventilation slots must be kept free at all
times! To reduce the risk of electric shock -
Disconnect power to the receptacle before installing or removing the unit.

Read the Operating Instructions.
3 Specific Safety Rules
Caustic fluid may leak from defective NiCd or NiMH battery packs (30% caustic potash solution)!
Slightly acidic, flammable fluid may leak from defective Li-Ion battery packs!
If battery fluid from NiCd, NiMH or Li-Ion battery packs leaks out and comes into contact with the skin, rinse the affected area thoroughly with water. If battery fluid leaks out and comes into contact with your eyes, wash them with clean water and seek medical treatment immediately!
Do not recharge a fully charged battery pack! Overcharging damages and shortens the lifespan of the battery pack!
Protect the charger from moisture.
Keep children away from the battery charger and the working area! Keep your battery charger out of reach of children!
For your own protection and for the protection of your charger pay attention to all parts of the text that are marked with this symbol!
Danger - electrical voltage.
Only use the charger indoors.
Pull out the mains plug immediately if the battery charger starts to smoke or flames emerge!
Do not insert objects into the ventilation slots on the battery charger – there is a danger of electric shocks and short circuits!
Do not use faulty battery packs.

5 Special Product Features
• Reduction in charging time with warm AIR COOLED battery packs of up to 50% and the maximum battery temperature during charging by approx. 10°C.
• Lengthening of service life of the AIR COOLED battery packs (mainly NiMH) by up to 50%.
• ACS 15 Plus: refresh mode for NiCd and NiMH battery pack maintenance.
• ACS 15 Plus: can charge vehicle starter batteries in combination with adapter
6.27067 (not included in scope of delivery).
6 Assembly, Initial Use
Before plugging in, check to see that the rated mains voltage and mains frequency, as stated on the rating label, match with your power supply.
7 Operation
7.1 Charging battery pack
Insert battery pack up to the stop in the charging compartment (1). If necessary, use an adapter for the battery pack (available as accessory).
A battery pack that is new or has not been used for some time only reaches full capacity after being charged and discharged several times.
The operating indicator (2) flashes. Note: To have the charge level displayed on
Li-Ion battery packs (with 14.4 V and 18 V), first take the battery pack out of the charger and then press the button on the battery pack.
7.2 Conservation charge
Once the charging process has finished, the battery charger automatically switches to conservation mode.
Before commissioning the charger, ensure that the air slots are free. Minimum distance to other objects is 5 cm.
6.1 Self-test
Insert mains supply plug.
ACS 15, AC 30 Plus, AC 30:
the warning display (3) and the operating indicator (2) light up in succession for approx. 1 second; the installed fan runs for approx. 5 seconds.
ACS 15 Plus:
the warning display (3), the operating indicator (2) and the refresh mode indicator (5) light up simultaneously for approx. 1 second; the installed fan runs for approx. 1 second.
The battery pack can remain in the battery charger and is therefore always ready for use. However, never leave the battery pack in a disconnected battery charger because of the possibility of exhaustive discharge and damage to the battery cells.
The operating indicator (2) lights up continuously.
7.3 Refresh mode (ACS 15 Plus only)
The NiCd and NiMH battery packs may discharge naturally by themselves and the cells in the battery pack may assume different charging states. The full power of a battery pack may no longer be available as a result. If you suspect that the battery is suffering from this effect, you can use refresh mode to restore full battery pack power corresponding to the battery age.
Only for NiCd and NiMH battery packs – not for Li-Ion battery packs and vehicle starter batteries. Use a maximum of once a month for each battery pack.
1) Insert battery pack up to the stop in the charging compartment (1). If necessary, use an adapter for the battery pack (available as accessory).
7
ENGLISH
2) Press the refresh mode button (4) until the refresh mode indicator (5) flashes.
Refresh mode ends automatically after approx. 8 hours for NiMH battery packs or after approx. 12 hours for NiCd battery packs. The battery pack is then fully charged. Note: The battery pack can be removed from the charger at any time, thereby interrupting refresh mode.
When the operating indicator (2) lights up continuously, this signals the end of refresh mode. The battery pack can remain in the battery charger and is therefore always ready for use.
7.4 Charging vehicle starter batteries
(ACS 15 Plus only)
Only suitable for 6 V or 12 V wet batteries with a minimum of 20 Ah.
Vehicle starter batteries can be charged in combination with the charging adapter
6.27067 (not included in scope of delivery).
Read the directions for use and safety instructions accompanying the charger adapter.
9 Repairs
Repairs to the charger must only be carried out by qualified electricians.
If the mains connection cable of this tool is damaged, in order to prevent endangering personnel and property it must be replaced by the manufacturer, or the Customer Service of the manufacturer, or a similarly qualified person.
Metabo chargers requiring repairs can be sent to the address on the next to the last page. Please enclose a description of the fault with the power tool.
10 Environmental Protection
Metabo's packaging can be 100% recycled. Worn out chargers and accessories contain considerable amounts of valuable raw and plastic materials, which can be recycled.
These instructions are printed on chlorine-free bleached paper.
8 Fault
8.1 Warning display (3) lights up
continuously
Battery pack is not charged. Excessive/Insufficient temperature. When the temperature of the battery pack is between 0 °C and 50 °C, the charging process begins automatically.
8.2 Warning display (3) flashes
• Battery pack is defective. Remove the
battery pack immediately from the charger.
• Short circuit between the charging contacts.
Check charging compartment for foreign bodies.
• For Li-Ion battery packs (with 14.4 V and
18 V): During charging, the button for displaying the charge level was pressed. First take the battery pack out of the charger and then press the button on the battery pack.
