PRECAUCIONES

DERECHO DE AUTOR:

• La distribución de copias de pistas en formato MP3, WMA, WMA con archivos DRM y/o WAV sin premiso es una violación de las leyes internacionales de los derechos de autor.

SEGURIDAD:

• La vibración experimentada al caminar o hacer ejercicio no afectará al reproductor. Sin embargo, dejar caer el reproductor o dejar caer un objeto pesado sobre el reproductor puede ocasionar daños o distorsión en el sonido.

• No permita que caiga líquido sobre el reproductor o en su interior.

• No deje el reproductor en un lugar cercano a una fuente de calor; ni en lugar donde caiga la luz directa del sol, polvo excesivo, arena, humedad, lluvia o impacto mecánico; ni en una superficie desnivelada; ni tampoco en un auto con las ventanas cerradas durante períodos de calor excesivo.

SEGURIDAD EN EL CAMINO:

• No utilice audífonos mientras conduce, anda en bicicleta o mientras opera un vehículo motorizado. Eso puede crear un peligro de tránsito y es ilegal en algunos lugares. Es potencialmente peligroso tener los audífonos a alto volumen mientras camina, especialmente en cruces peatonales. Sea extremadamente precavido o suspenda el uso en situaciones potencialmente peligrosas.

INSTALACIÓN DE LA BATERÍA

Cuando las barras en el indicador de la batería (en la pantalla) bajan (ver Figura 1), reemplace la batería de la siguiente manera.

1. Quite la cubierta superior presionando el botón de Abrir, luego levántela para quitarla como se muestra en la Figura 2.

2. Introduzca una (1) batería “AAA” (el lado positivo hacia la parte inferior de la unidad y el lado negativo hacia la parte superior) como se muestra en la Figura 3, asegurándose de cerrar el seguro de la batería (presione el seguro y deslícelo hasta que enganche). Se recomienda el uso de una batería alcalina para una mayor duración.

3. Coloque nuevamente la cubierta superior hasta que enganche en su lugar.

NOTA: Cada vez que cambie las baterías, cuando encienda nuevamente la unidad, ésta buscará los archivos de música para actualizar el índice. La unidad se tarda varios segundos en actualizar el índice; el tiempo de la actualización depende de la cantidad de archivos de música en la tarjeta SD/MMC y en la memoria interna.

Cuando use baterías, tome las siguientes precauciones:

1. Use únicamente el tamaño de batería que indica el fabricante.

2. Asegúrese de seguir la polaridad indicada en el compartimiento cuando instale su batería. De no hacerlo, usted puede dañar su unidad.

3. Si no va a usar su unidad por un largo período de tiempo, saque la batería para evitar que se oxide y se dañen las terminales.

4. Nunca intente recargar baterías que no han sido hechas para este fin, ya que pueden recalentarse y explotar. (Siga las indicaciones del fabricante de las baterías).

INSTALACIÓN DEL SOFTWARE

El complemento MyDJ es para el Reproductor de Windows Media y es compatible con Microsoft Windows XP (Home Edition o Professional Edition con Service Pack 2 o superior). El MusicIP Mixer es compatible con Microsoft Windows ME, 2000 y XP.

Para Microsoft Windows XP:

Use el CD para instalar el complemento MyDJ y el Reproductor de Windows Media 10 O BIEN el MusicIP Mixer para Windows.

Requisitos del sistema para el complemento MyDJ:

• Intel Pentium (700MHz o mejor recomendado)

• 128MB en RAM (mínimo recomendado)

• Una conexión activa de Internet

Windows detectará automáticamente el reproductor de audio sin instalar el software cuando conecte el cable USB.

Para Mac OS X:

Mac OS X detectará automáticamente el reproductor de audio sin instalar el software cuando conecte el cable USB. Use el CD para instalar el MusicIP Mixer (para Mac OS X 10.3 o superior).

NOTAS IMPORTANTES:

• Cuando inserte el CD de instalación de software, primero debe seleccionar “Instalar software de PC” o “Instalar software de Mac OS X” (dependiendo de su computadora). Tome nota que las pantallas mostradas en el manual son para una PC.

• Para usuarios de PC, sólo instale el Reproductor de Windows Media 10 O BIEN el MusicIP Mixer. Instalar ambos programas puede impedir que la computadora detecte la unidad.

INSTALACIÓN DEL COMPLEMENTO MyDJ

Procedimiento para instalar el complemento MyDJ: (para el Reproductor de Windows Media 10; vea los requisitos en la página anterior):

1. Introduzca el disco de instalación en la unidad de CD-Rom y aparecerá la pantalla de instalación. Si no aparece automáticamente, haga doble clic en Mi PC y luego haga doble clic en la unidad de disco y entonces aparecerá la pantalla de instalación. Después de seleccionar “Instalar software de PC”, haga clic en “Descargar e instalar complemento MyDJ para el Reproductor de Windows Media”.

2. En la primera pantalla emergente, haga clic en “Guardar” para guardar “wmp_plugin.msi” en su computadora. Guárdelo en un lugar conveniente, como podría ser el Escritorio.

3. Haga doble clic en el icono de “wmp_plugin” en su Escritorio (si lo guardó ahí) y aparecerá el Asistente para la instalación. Haga clic en “Siguiente”.

INSTALACIÓN DEL COMPLEMENTO MyDJ

4. Aparecerá la pantalla de “Seleccionar carpeta de instalación”. Recomendamos que conserve la carpeta como está. Luego, haga clic en “Siguiente”.

5. En la pantalla de “Confirmar instalación”, haga clic en “Siguiente” para empezar la instalación.

6. Cuando termine satisfactoriamente, aparecerá la pantalla de “Instalación completa”. Haga clic en “Cerrar” para salir del Asistente para la instalación. Consulte la página 23 en cuanto a cómo usar el complemento MyDJ.

INSTALACIÓN DEL REPRODUCTOR DE WINDOWS MEDIA 10

El Reproductor de Windows Media 10 únicamente es para utilizarse con Windows XP. Para Windows ME y Windows 2000, visite www.Microsoft.com para descargar el Reproductor de Windows Media correspondiente para su computadora.

Una vez instalado el Reproductor de Windows Media 10, puede transferir archivos MP3, WMA, WMA con DRM 9 ó 10 a su reproductor usando la función de “Sincronización”.

2. Será enviado al Centro de descargas de Windows Media. Seleccione Descargar (Reproductor de Windows Media), Versión (recomendamos el Reproductor 10 [para Windows XP]) e Idioma. Luego, haga clic en “Descargar ahora”. En la ventana emergente, haga clic en “Ejecutar” para ejecutar “MP10Setup.exe”. Haga clic en “Ejecutar” nuevamente. La instalación dará inicio. NOTA: No instale una versión superior a WMP10, de lo contrario, la computadora no detectará la unidad.

3. Lea el Contrato de licencia, luego haga clic en ACEPTO.

4. La instalación continuará.

5. En la pantalla de bienvenida, haga clic en SIGUIENTE.

6. Seleccione las opciones de privacidad deseadas.

7. Haga clic en la Declaración de privacidad para verla, si así lo desea. Cuando termine, haga clic en “Siguiente”.

8. Lea las instrucciones y active las casillas de verificación deseadas. Luego haga clic en Más opciones y active las casillas de verificación deseadas.

9. Haga clic en “Finalizar” para finalizar la instalación del Reproductor de Windows Media 10.

INSTALACIÓN DE MUSICIP MIXER

Procedimiento para instalar el MusicIP Mixer:

1. Introduzca el disco de instalación en la unidad de CD-Rom y aparecerá la pantalla de instalación. Si no aparece automáticamente, haga doble clic en Mi PC y luego haga doble clic en la unidad de disco y entonces aparecerá la pantalla de instalación. Después de seleccionar “Instalar software de PC” o “Instalar software de Mac OS X”, haga clic en “Descargar e instalar MusicIP Mixer” (para Windows o para Mac OS X 10.3 o superior, dependiendo de la computadora).

2. Para Windows, en la primera pantalla emergente, haga clic en “Guardar” para guardar “mixerwin32.exe” en su computadora. Guárdelo en un lugar conveniente, como podría ser el Escritorio.

3. Haga doble clic en el icono de “MusicIP Mixer” en su Escritorio (si lo guardó ahí) y aparecerá el Asistente para la instalación. Haga clic en “Siguiente”.

4. Aparecerá la pantalla de “Contrato de licencia”. Seleccione “Acepto el contrato” y luego haga clic en “Siguiente”.

5. Aparecerá la pantalla de “Seleccionar lugar de destino”. Recomendamos que conserve la carpeta como está. Luego, haga clic en “Siguiente”.

6. Aparecerá la pantalla de “Seleccionar carpeta de menú de Inicio”. Recomendamos que conserve la carpeta como está. Luego, haga clic en “Siguiente”.

INSTALACIÓN DE MUSICIP MIXER

7. Aparecerá la pantalla de “Seleccionar tareas

adicionales”. Seleccione (marque) “Crear icono en Escritorio” y/o “Crear icono en Inicio rápido”, según desee y luego haga clic en “Siguiente”.

8. Aparecerá la pantalla de “Preparado para

instalar”. Para continuar, haga clic en “Instalar”.

9. Aparecerá la pantalla de “Finalizado el Asistente

para la instalación de MusiclP Mixer”. Si tiene como opción “Instalar Bonjour Service (para habilitar la compatibilidad con TiVo)”, NO necesita seleccionarla. Recomendamos ampliamente que seleccione “Ver el archivo de ayuda”, para que después de la instalación acuda inmediatamente a las instrucciones posteriores con respecto al MusicIP Mixer. Haga clic en “Terminar” para salir del Asistente para la instalación.

DESCARGAR Y TRANSFERIR ARCHIVOS

TRANSFERIR ARCHIVOS

Puede descargar archivos de música digital desde internet o utilizar un software de codificación para convertir la música que tiene un disco de audio a formato MP3 o WMA. Una vez que haya guardado estos archivos en su computadora, puede copiarlos fácilmente en su reproductor.

Para Windows XP, si ya instaló el Reproductor de Windows Media 10, usted puede transferir archivos de música (archivos MP3, WMA, WMA con DRM 9

al reproductor a través de la función de “Sincronización” del Reproductor de

ó 10)

Windows Media 10. Conecte su computadora al puerto USB en su computadora usando el cable USB. “MTP Player”, “MMP8564” o “MMP8567” aparecerá en la carpeta “Mi PC”, lo cual indica que el reproductor está conectado. Asimismo, el reproductor mostrará la figura mostrada arriba a la derecha. Luego, siga el procedimiento en la página 21 para transferir los archivos de música al reproductor.

Para Windows ME, Windows 2000 o Windows XP (sin el Reproductor de Windows Media 10), transfiera los

archivos de música de la siguiente manera:

1. Conecte el reproductor al puerto USB en su

computadora usando el cable USB como se muestra a la derecha.

2. Automáticamente se abrirá una ventana de “disco

extraíble” en la pantalla de su computadora.

3. Para agregar más archivos y canciones a su reproductor, simplemente arrastre y coloque los archivos MP3

o WMA desde cualquier lugar en su computadora hasta la ventana de “disco extraíble”.

NOTAS IMPORTANTES:

• Los archivos WMA con DRM 9 ó 10 no se reproducirán si los arrastra y coloca directamente en la ventana

de “disco extraíble”. Debe usar el Reproductor de Windows Media 10 para transferir los archivos protegidos contra copia, como se indica en la página 21.

• Durante la transferencia de archivos, no desconecte la unidad de la computadora hasta que la pantalla

muestre “Listo”.

• La sincronización del Reproductor de Windows Media puede eliminar información preparada para MyDJ de

los archivos MP3 si está habilitada la opción “Convertir archivos según sea necesario para este aparato”. Para deshabilitar está opción, vaya al menú “Herramientas” c “Opciones...” dentro del Reproductor de Windows Media y luego haga clic en la ficha Aparatos. Asegúrese de que la unidad esté conectada a la computadora en este momento. Seleccione el reproductor de la lista, haga clic en el botón “Propiedades” y luego seleccione la ficha “Calidad”. TRANSFERIR ARCHIVOS DE AUDIO A SU REPRODUCTOR DE AUDIO DIGITAL USANDO UNA COMPUTADORA MAC

Asegúrese de que la computadora Mac tenga un sistema operativo de 10.0 para transferir los archivos de audio. Para usar el MusicIP Mixer, asegúrese de usar Mac OS

10.3 o superior.

1. Encienda su computadora.

2. Encienda el reproductor de audio digital.

3. Conecte el extremo más pequeño del cable al conector USB en el reproductor y el extremo más grande del cable al puerto USB de su Mac.

4. Su computadora reconocerá automáticamente el reproductor y establecerá un icono de disco duro en el escritorio.

5. Ubique la carpeta donde guarda los archivos de audio en el disco duro de su computadora. Simplemente arrastre y coloque los archivos de audio en el icono de disco duro establecido para su reproductor de audio digital, ubicado en el escritorio.

6. Después de terminar la transferencia, borre el icono de disco duro del reproductor de audio digital arrastrándolo al icono de Papelera de reciclaje o haga clic presionando la tecla control en el icono y seleccione Expulsar del menú de Archivo o seleccione Expulsar del menú desplegable de Archivo ubicado en la parte superior de la pantalla. También puede usar el método abreviado del teclado seleccionando el icono de disco duro del reproductor de audio digital y presionando las teclas Comando-E.

7. Su reproductor está listo para reproducir los archivos que transfirió.

DESCARGAR Y TRANSFERIR ARCHIVOS (CONT.)

Para Windows XP, puede utilizar el software Reproductor de Windows Media 10 anteriormente instalado para convertir la música en un CD de audio a formato MP3 o WMA, del siguiente modo:

1. Abra el explorador de Reproductor de Windows Media 10, luego haga clic en el icono de “Copiar desde CD” en la barra de herramientas superior. Introduzca un CD de música en la unidad de disco CD-Rom de su computadora.

NOTA: Para Windows 98SE, Windows ME y Windows 2000, use el Reproductor de Windows Media 9 para convertir la música en un CD de audio a formato MP3 o WMA.

2. Haga clic en la opción de menú “Herramientas” en la barra de herramientas superior, luego haga clic en “Opciones”; aparecerá el menú de configuración de Opción. Haga clic en Copiar música desde CD y configure la ubicación para copiar la música en su computadora. Luego, configure el formato deseado para la música recién copiada (formato MP3 o Audio de Windows Media). Ajuste la calidad de audio según desee. Cuando termine, haga clic en “ACEPTAR” para confirmar las configuraciones.

3. Haga clic en el icono “Copiar desde CD” para empezar a copiar la música a su computadora.

4. Cuando copie las pistas de música; conecte el reproductor a su computadora. Abra la ventana del “MTP Player”, “MMP8564” o “MMP8567” y abra la ventana de ubicación de la música a copiar.

5. Para agregar los archivos/canciones de música transferibles/copiados a su reproductor, simplemente arrastre y coloque los archivos MP3 y/o WMA en la ventana del “MTP Player”, “MMP8564” o “MMP8567”.

6. Cuando se terminen de cargar los archivos en el reproductor, siga el procedimiento de “Quitar hardware con seguridad”, como se muestra en la página 30.

TRANSFERIR ARCHIVOS MP3/WMA Y ARCHIVOS WMA CON DRM 9 ó 10 USANDO EL REPRODUCTOR DE WINDOWS MEDIA 10 (SÓLO PARA WINDOWS XP)

Para transferir archivos MP3/WMA o WMA con DRM 9 o 10 al reproductor, siga el procedimiento descrito a continuación usando el Reproductor de Windows Media 10 previamente instalado. Antes de empezar con el procedimiento, encienda la unidad y conéctela a la computadora como se describió anteriormente.

1. Abra el explorador de Reproductor de Windows Media 10 y haga clic en “Sincronizar”.

2. Haga clic en el menú desplegable “Lista de sincronización” para encontrar los archivos de música que desea descargar. Luego asegúrese de seleccionar la casilla junto a los archivos.

3. Seleccione el Dispositivo portátil (“MTP Player”, “MMP8564” o “MMP8567”) que desea copiar desde el menú desplegable de la columna derecha. Haga clic en “Iniciar sincronización” para empezar a transferir los archivos de música al reproductor.

4. Cuando termine de transferir todos los archivos deseados a su unidad, puede retirar la unidad de la computadora.

NOTAS:

• Para los archivos WMA con DRM 9 ó 10, sólo puede usar el Reproductor de Windows Media 10 para transferir los archivos a su reproductor.

• Para los archivos WMA con DRM 9 ó 10, los archivos no se reproducirán si transfirió los archivos a una tarjeta de memoria SD/MMC. Debe transferir los archivos WMA con DRM 9 ó 10 a la memoria interna del reproductor para que se reproduzcan.

• Para Windows ME y Windows 2000, visite www.Microsoft.com para descargar el Reproductor de Windows Media correspondiente para transferir los archivos de música al reproductor.

• Si una canción con DRM ya caducó, la pantalla mostrará “Canción caducada”.

Si transfiere una canción con la función MyDJ a la unidad, el logotipo de MyDJ “ ” aparecerá junto al nombre del archivo en la unidad.

CREAR UNA LISTA DE REPRODUCCIÓN USANDO EL REPRODUCTOR DE WINDOWS MEDIA 10 (SÓLO PARA WINDOWS XP)

Siga los pasos a continuación para crear una lista de reproducción en el menú Explorar música (bajo “Listas de reproducción”), usando WMP (el Reproductor de Windows Media) 10:

1. Conecte el reproductor al puerto USB en su computadora como se muestra en la página 18. Abra el WMP 10.

2. Vaya a la página “Sincronización” y haga clic en “Configurar sincronización”. Ahí puede configurar la sincronización específica para esta unidad.

3. Haga clic en “Sincronizar aparato automáticamente” y seleccione la lista de reproducción. Por ejemplo, seleccione “Música agregada en el último mes” y “Música reproducida con mayor frecuencia” y haga clic en “Aceptar”. WMP 10 sincronizará la lista o las listas de reproducción con las de esta unidad, automáticamente.

4. Cuando termine la sincronización, habrá una nueva lista de reproducción que puede encontrar en el menú Explorar música (bajo “Listas de reproducción”).

CÓMO USAR EL COMPLEMENTO MyDJ

El complemento MyDJ se abrirá automáticamente cuando inicie el Reproductor de Windows Media 10 la primera vez después de la instalación. (Si no tiene canciones en la biblioteca de WMP [el Reproductor de Windows Media], primero deberá agregar algunas para poder usar el complemento MyDJ.)

La primera vez que inicie el complemento MyDJ, le preguntarán si desea guardar la información de análisis en sus archivos de música. Eso significa que las pistas serán analizadas usando el complemento MyDJ de modo que funcionen con la función MyDJ en esta unidad.

Presione el botón verde de “INICIO” para empezar el proceso para preparar su música para MyDJ. Ahora podrá ver el progreso de activar su música dentro de la ventana del complemento MyDJ.

Una vez completada la activación de los archivos de música, aparecerá la opción “INICIO” deshabilitada.

Puede cerrar o minimizar las ventanas con las casillas Cerrar o Minimizar en la esquina superior derecha.

Análisis extendido de su música

De modo predeterminado, el complemento MyDJ realizará el análisis más rápido del que sea capaz. Sin embargo, no todos los archivos dentro de su colección pueden ser reconocidos durante el proceso de “análisis rápido”. En ese caso, puede usar la función Análisis extendido del complemento MyDJ, que asegurará que todos los posibles archivos remanentes en la biblioteca WMP estén preparados para esta unidad.

Para habilitar el Análisis extendido, haga clic en el menú “Herramientas” del complemento MyDJ y luego en el submenú “Opciones…”. Al marcar la casilla “Usar análisis extendido” y hacer clic en el botón “Aceptar”, todas las canciones quedarán validadas y preparadas para esta unidad.

CÓMO USAR EL COMPLEMENTO MyDJ (CONTINÚA)

El cuadro que aparece muestra el número total de pistas que tiene en la biblioteca WMP, el número de pistas que están preparadas para ser usadas con esta unidad y el número de pistas que necesitan una validación posterior o un análisis extendido. NOTA: Seleccionar una “Carga de procesador” de “Máxima” puede tener un impacto significativo sobre el rendimiento de su computadora. Si pretende usar la computadora mientras ejecuta el “Análisis extendido” en el fondo, seleccione “Baja”.

Comprobar si hay pistas mezclables

Para poder usar la función MyDJ en esta unidad, usted necesita agregar al menos 25 pistas analizadas previamente usando el complemento MyDJ. Usted puede habilitar una columna dentro de WMP 10 que le indicará si la pista está preparada para MyDJ, siguiendo los pasos a continuación:

1. En WMP 10, haga clic con el botón secundario del mouse en uno de las encabezados de columna dentro de la biblioteca.

2. Haga clic en “Más…” en la parte inferior de la lista.

3. En la ventana que aparece, asegúrese de que “Custom 1” esté marcado.

CÓMO USAR EL MUSICIP MIXER

Para Mac OS X Paso 1. Encontrar los archivos de música

La primera vez que ejecute el MusicIP Mixer, éste le pedirá que importe la música de su base de datos de iTunes, la carpeta de Música o de otra carpeta fuente de su elección.

En base a su selección, las pistas de la base de datos de iTunes, la carpeta de Música o de otra fuente será importada en la biblioteca del MusicIP Mixer.

Paso 2. Analizar su música

Una vez terminado el proceso de importación, el MusicIP Mixer analizará las pistas y guardará los datos en un archivo caché en su computadora. Durante el proceso de análisis, el Mixer detectará las características acústicas únicas de sus archivos de audio para usarlos al crear las listas de reproducción. Las pistas cambiarán de gris a negro a medida que son analizadas.

Paso 3. Guardar el análisis en un archivo

Usted debe guardar los datos del análisis de sus archivos de audio antes de transferirlos al aparato. Para guardar los datos del análisis, seleccione la pista o las pistas en el Mixer, haciendo clic en Ctrl, y seleccione “Guardar análisis en música”. Cuando guarda la información del análisis en sus archivos, éstos serán alterados ligeramente para guardar etiquetas de MusicIP. Después de guardar los datos del análisis en sus pistas, podrá usarlas para la

Puede detener el proceso de análisis seleccionando “Detener análisis”. La ventana de estado de análisis muestra el número de pistas que todavía no fueron analizadas y la cantidad de tiempo restante para cada proceso de análisis. Puede cerrar la ventana de estado de análisis en cualquier momento haciendo clic en el icono “X” en la

esquina superior izquierda.

En base a su selección, las pistas de la carpeta de Mi música o de otra fuente serán importadas a la biblioteca del MusicIP Mixer.

Paso 2. Analizar su música

Una vez terminado el proceso de importación, el MusicIP Mixer analizará las pistas y guardará los datos en un archivo caché en su computadora. Para guardar los datos del análisis, seleccione la pista o las pistas en el Mixer, haciendo clic con el botón secundario del mouse, y seleccione “Guardar análisis en música”. Cuando guarda la información del análisis en sus archivos, éstos serán alterados ligeramente para guardar etiquetas de MusicIP. En la ventana “Quitar hardware con seguridad”, seleccione “Dispositivo de almacenamiento masivo USB” y haga clic en el botón “Detener”. Se abrirá la ventana “Detener un dispositivo de hardware”. Haga clic en “Aceptar”. Cuando vea la ventana “Es seguro quitar el hardware”, puede quitar el reproductor del cable USB o bien puede quitar el cable USB de la computadora.

NOTAS:

• Si no ve el icono de “Quitar hardware con seguridad” en la barra

de tareas, haga doble clic en Mi PC. Haga clic con el botón secundario del mouse en el “Disco extraíble” y luego haga clic con el botón primario del mouse en “Expulsar”. Entonces será seguro quitar el reproductor de la computadora.

• Si usa Windows XP y ya tiene instalado el software Reproductor de Windows Media 10,

entonces no necesita seguir el procedimiento para “Quitar hardware con seguridad” descrito anteriormente.

3. Conecte el cable USB como se describió anteriormente.

4. Arrastre los archivos MP3 y WMA a la ventada de “Disco extraíble de la tarjeta de memoria SD/MMC.

NOTA: A Un archivo WMAcon DRM no se reproducirá si lo arrastra y coloca directamente en la ventana de “Disco extraíble”. Vea la página 21 en cuanto a cómo descargar archivos WMA con DRM de la computadora a su reproductor.

5. Para quitar la tarjeta de memoria SD/MMC, empuje el borde de la misma y la tarjeta saldrá impulsada por un resorte. Retire la tarjeta con cuidado, como se muestra en la Figura 3.

6. Coloque nuevamente la cubierta superior hasta que enganche en su lugar.

Encienda la unidad presionando el botón de Encendido/Apagado/Detener; la pantalla de inicio de Memorex aparecerá temporalmente en la pantalla. Luego aparecerá el menú del Reproductor de música y aparecerá la información de la pista MP3/WMA en la pantalla. Para apagar la unidad, presione el botón de Encendido/Apagado/Detener y manténgalo presionado; “Mantener presionado para apagar” aparecerá en la pantalla. La unidad se apagará después de contar de uno a tres. No suelte el botón de Encendido/Apagado/Detener hasta que se apague.

NOTA: Después de transferir los archivos de música al reproductor, cuando encienda la unidad, aparecerá la pantalla de inicio de “Memorex” temporalmente en la pantalla, seguido de “Crear nueva lista de reproducción”. Tardará entre unos segundos y varios minutos en actualizar la biblioteca del reproductor, dependiendo de la cantidad de canciones que transfirió al reproductor. Cuando termine, el menú del Reproductor de música aparecerá en la pantalla.

Con la unidad encendida, presione el botón de MENÚ/Bloqueo y manténgalo presionado hasta que aparezca BLOQUEADO en la pantalla; ningún botón funcionará. Eso es útil cuando no desea que se cambie accidentalmente la pista al presionar un botón. Presione el botón de MENÚ/Bloqueo y manténgalo presionado hasta que aparezca DESBLOQUEADO en la pantalla para cancelar la función de Bloqueo.

ACTUALIZAR EL FIRMWARE

1. Descargue el firmware actualizado de www.memorexelectronics.com.

BATTERY INSTALLATION

When the bars in the battery indicator (in the display) become low (see Figure 1), replace the battery as follows.

1. Remove the top cover by pressing the Open button, then lifting the top cover up to remove it as shown in Figure 2.

2. Insert one (1) “AAA” battery (positive side facing the bottom of the unit and negative side facing the top) as shown in Figure 3, making sure to close the battery latch (press down the battery latch and slide the latch until it locks in place). An alkaline battery is recommended for the longest playing time.

3. Put the top cover back on until it snaps in place.

NOTE: Each time after you have replaced the battery, when you turn on the unit again, it will search the music files to update the index. It will take approx. several seconds to update the index; this updating time depends on the number of music files in the SD/MMC card and in the internal memory.

BATTERY PRECAUTIONS

Follow these precautions when using a battery in this device:

1. Use only the size and type of battery speciﬁed.

2. Be sure to follow the correct polarity when installing the battery as indicated. Reversed batteries may cause damage to the device.

3. If the device is not to be used for a long period of time, remove the battery to prevent damage or injury from possible battery leakage.

4. Do not try to recharge batteries not intended to be recharged; they can overheat and rupture. (Follow battery manufacturer’s directions.)

Software Installation CD (PART NO. CTPCDMEMO121004-0-00*) General Information

The MyDJ Plug-In is for Windows Media Player and is compatible with Microsoft Windows XP (Home or Professional Edition with Service Pack 2 or higher). The MusicIP Mixer is compatible with Microsoft Windows ME, 2000 and XP.

For Microsoft Windows XP:

Use the CD to install the MyDJ Plug-In and Windows Media Player 10 OR the MusicIP Mixer for Windows.

System requirements for MyDJ Plug-in:

• Intel Pentium (700MHz or better recommended)

• 128MB RAM (recommended minimum)

• An active Internet connection

Windows will automatically detect the audio player without installing the CD software when the USB cable is connected.

For Mac OS X:

Mac OS X will automatically detect the audio player without installing the CD software when the USB cable is connected. Use the CD to install the MusicIP Mixer (for Mac OS X 10.3 or higher).

IMPORTANT NOTES:

• When you insert the Software Installation CD, you will first have to select to “Install PC Software” or “Install Mac OS X Software” (depending on your computer). Please note that the screens shown in the manual are for a PC.

• For PC users, please only install Windows Media Player 10 OR MusicIP Mixer. Installing both may cause the unit to not be detected by your computer.

INSTALLING THE MyDJ PLUG-IN

Procedure to Install the MyDJ Plug-In: (for Windows Media Player 10; see requirements on the previous page):

1. Insert the installation CD-Rom into the CD Drive, then the installation screen will appear. If the installation screen doesn't automatically appear, double-click My Computer then double-click on the CD drive, then the installation screen will appear. After selecting “Install PC Software”, click “Download & Install MyDJ Plug-in for Windows Media Player”.

2. At the first pop-up screen, click “Save” to save “wmp_plugin.msi” onto your computer. Save in a convenient location, such as on your Desktop.

3. Double-click on the “wmp_plugin” icon on your Desktop (if saved there) and the Setup Wizard will appear. Click “Next”.

4. The “Select Installation Folder” screen will appear. It is recommended to keep the folder as is. Then click “Next”.

5. At the “Confirm Installation” screen, click “Next” to start the installation.

6. When successfully completed, the “Installation Complete” screen will appear. Click “Close” to exit the Setup Wizard. Please see page 23 for how to use the MyDJ Plug-In.

WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 10 INSTALLATION

Windows Media Player 10 is for use with Windows XP only. For Windows ME and Windows 2000, please visit www.Microsoft.com to download the corresponding Windows Media Player for your computer.

Once you have installed Windows Media Player 10, you can transfer MP3 files, WMA files, WMA files with DRM 9 or 10 to your player using the “Sync” function.

2. You will be directed to the Windows Media Download Center. Select Download (Windows Media Player), Version (Player 10 [for Windows XP] is recommended) and Language. Then, click “Download Now”. At the pop-up window, click “Run” to run “MP10Setup.exe”. Click “Run” again. Installation will begin. NOTE: Please install WMP up to WMP10, otherwise the unit may not be detected by your computer.

3. Read the License Agreement, then click I ACCEPT.

4. Installation will continue.

5. At the Welcome screen, click NEXT.

6. Select the desired privacy options.

7. Click on Privacy Statement to view the Statement, if desired. When finished, click “Next”.

8. Read the instructions and tick the check boxes as desired. Then click on More Options and tick the check boxes as desired.

9. Click “Finish” to finish the installation of Windows Media Player 10.

INSTALLING THE MUSICIP MIXER

Procedure to Install the MusicIP Mixer:

1. Insert the installation CD-Rom into the CD Drive, then the installation screen will appear. If the installation screen doesn't automatically appear, double-click My Computer then double-click on the CD drive, then the installation screen will appear. After selecting “Install PC Software” or “Install Mac OS X Software”, click “Download & Install MusicIP Mixer” (for Windows or for Mac OS X 10.3 or higher, depending on your computer).

2. For Windows, at the first pop-up screen, click “Save” to save “mixerwin32.exe” onto your computer. Save in a convenient location, such as on your Desktop.

3. Double-click on the “MusicIP Mixer” icon on your Desktop (if saved there) and the Setup Wizard will appear. Click “Next”.

4. The “License Agreement” screen will appear. Select “I accept the agreement” and then click “Next”.

5. The “Select Destination Location” screen will appear. It is recommended to keep the folder as is. Then click “Next”.

6. The “Select Start Menu Folder” screen will appear. It is recommended to keep the folder as is. Then click “Next”.

7. The “Select Additional Tasks” screen will

appear. Select (check) “Create a desktop icon” and/or “Create a Quick Launch icon”, as desired, and then click “Next”.

8. The “Ready to Install” screen will appear. To

9. The “Completing the MusiclP Mixer Setup

Wizard” screen will appear. If the “Install Bonjour Service (to enable TiVo support)” is listed as an option, you do NOT need to select it. It is highly recommended that you select “View help file”, so that after installation, you will immediately be directed to further instructions regarding the MusicIP Mixer. Click “Finish” to exit the Setup Wizard.

TRANSFERRING FILES

You can download digital music files from the Internet or use encoding software to convert music that you have on an audio CD into MP3 or WMA format. Once these files are stored on your computer you can easily copy them to your player.

For Windows XP, if you already installed Windows Media Player 10, you can transfer music files (MP3, WMA, WMA files with DRM 9 or 10)

to the player through the "Sync" function of Windows Media Player 10. Connect your computer to the USB port on your computer using the USB cable. “MTP Player”, "MMP8564" or “MMP8567” will appear in your "My Computer" folder which indicates the player is connected. Also, the player will display the figure shown above right. Then, follow the procedure on page 21 to transfer music files to the player.

For Windows ME, Windows 2000 or Windows XP (without Windows Media Player 10)

1. Connect your player to the USB port on your

computer using the USB cable as shown right.

2. A "Removable Disk" window will automatically

pop-up on your computer screen.

3. To add more files and songs to your player, simply drag and drop MP3 or WMA files from

anywhere on your computer into the "Removable Disk" window.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

• AWMA file with DRM 9 or 10 will not play back if you directly drag and drop it into the "Removable

Disk" window. You must use Windows Media Player 10 to transfer copy-protected files as described on page 21.

• During the file transfer, do not unplug the unit from the computer until the display shows "Ready".

• Windows Media Player Sync may remove MyDJ ready information from MP3 files if the "Convert

files as required by this device" option is active. To disable this option go to "Tools” menu within Windows Media Player and then click the Devices tab. Please be sure you have this unit plugged in to your PC at this time. Select your player from the list, click the “Properties” button and then select the “Quality” tab. Ensure that “Convert files as required by this device (recommended)” is not checked. Once you have made any changes, click the “OK” button.

TRANSFERRING AUDIO FILES TO YOUR DIGITAL AUDIO PLAYER USING A MAC COMPUTER

Make sure to use a Mac computer with an operating system of 10.0 or higher to transfer audio files. To use the MusicIP Mixer, make sure to use Mac OS 10.3 or higher.

1. Turn on your computer.

2. Turn on your digital audio player.

3. Connect the smaller end of the cable to the USB jack on the player and the larger end of the cable to the USB port on your Mac.

4. Your computer will automatically recognize your player and mount a hard disk icon onto your desktop.

5. Locate the folder where your audio files are stored on your computer’s hard drive. Simply drag and drop the audio files onto the mounted hard disk drive icon of your digital audio player located on your desktop.

6. After you have finished your transfer, put away the digital audio player hard disk icon(s) by dragging it to the Trash icon or Control-click its icon and choose Eject from the File menu or select Eject from the File drop-down menu located at the top of your screen. You can also use the keyboard shortcuts by selecting the digital audio player hard disk icon and pressing the Command-E keys.

7. Your player is ready to play the files you transferred.

For Windows XP, you can also utilize the previously installed Windows Media Player 10 software to convert music on an audio CD into MP3 or WMA format as follows:

1. Open the Windows Media Player 10 Browser, then click on the “Rip” icon on the top tool bar. Insert a Music CD into the CD-Rom drive of your computer.

NOTE: For Windows ME and Windows 2000, please use the corresponding Windows Media Player for your computer to convert music on an audio CD into MP3 or WMA format.

2. Click on the “Tools” menu option at the top menu bar, then click on “Options”; the Option setting menu will appear. Click on Rip Music and set the Rip Music to the desired location on your computer. Then, set the desired format for the newly ripped music (MP3 format or Windows Media Audio format). Adjust the audio quality as desired. When finished, click “OK” to confirm the settings.

3. Click on the “Rip Music” icon to start ripping the music to your computer.

4. When the music tracks are ripped; connect the player to your computer. Open the “MTP Player”, "MMP8564" or “MMP8567” window and open the ripped music location window.

5. To add the transferred/ripped music files/songs to your player simply drag and drop the MP3 and/or WMA files into the “MTP Player”, "MMP8564" or “MMP8567” window.

6. When the files are finished loading into the player, you can follow the “Safely Remove Hardware” procedure as shown on page 30.

TRANSFERRING MP3/WMA FILES AND WMA FILES WITH DRM 9 or 10 USING THE WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 10 (FOR WINDOWS XP ONLY)

To transfer MP3 files/WMA files/WMA files with DRM 9 or 10 to the player, follow the procedure described below using the previously installed Windows Media Player 10. Before beginning the procedure please turn the unit on and connect the unit to the computer as previously described.

1. Open the “Windows Media Player Browser 10” and click on “Sync”.

2. Click on the “Sync List” pull-down menu to locate the music files you wish to download. Then make sure to tick the box next to the files.

3. Select the Portable Device (“MTP Player”, "MMP8564" or “MMP8567”) that you want to copy to from the right side drop-down menu. Click “Start Sync” to start transferring music files to the player.

4. After finished transferring all the desired files to your unit, you can remove your unit from the computer.

NOTES:

• For WMA files with DRM 9 or 10, you can only use Windows Media Player 10 to transfer files to your player.

• For WMA files with DRM 9 or 10, the files will not be played if you transfer the files into the SD/MMC card’s memory. You must transfer the WMA files with DRM 9 or 10 to the player’s internal memory for playback.

• For Windows ME and Windows 2000, please visit www.Microsoft.com to download the corresponding Windows Media Player to transfer music files to the player.

• If a song with DRM is expired, the display will show "Song Expired".

•

If a song with the MyDJ feature is transferred to the unit, the MyDJ logo “ ” will appear next to the file name on the unit.

CREATING A PLAYLIST USING WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 10 (FOR WINDOWS XP ONLY)

Follow the steps below to create a playlist in the Browse Music menu (under "Playlists"), using WMP (Windows Media Player) 10:

1. Connect your player to the USB port on your computer as shown on page 18. Open WMP 10.

2. Go to the "Sync" page and click "Set Up Sync". There you can set up the specific synchronization for this unit.

3. Click "Synchronize Device Automatically" and select the playlist. For example, select "Music Added in the Last Month" and "Music Played the Most" and click "OK". WMP 10 will synchronize the selected playlist(s) to this unit automatically.

4. When the synchronization is finished, there will be a new playlist which you can find in the Browse Music menu (under "Playlists").

USING THE MyDJ PLUG-IN

The MyDJ Plug-In will open automatically when you start Windows Media Player 10 for the first time after installation. (If you don’t have any songs in your WMP [Windows Media Player] library, you will first need to add some in order to use the MyDJ Plug-In.)

The first time you start the MyDJ Plug-In, you will be asked if you wish to save analysis information in your music files. This means your tracks will be analyzed using the MyDJ Plug-In so they will work with the MyDJ feature on this unit.

Press the green “START” to start the process to make your music MyDJ ready. You will now be able to see the progress of activating your music within the MyDJ Plug-In window.

Once the activation of your music files is complete, an inactive "START" will appear.

The windows can be closed/minimized with the close/minimize boxes at the top righthand corner.

Extended Analysis of Your Music

By default, the MyDJ Plug-In will perform the fastest analysis of your music that it can. However, not all of the files within your collection may be recognized during this “quick analysis” process. In this case, you may want to use the Extended Analysis capability of the MyDJ Plug-In, which will ensure that all possible remaining files within your WMP library are ready to be used on this unit.

To enable Extended Analysis click the “Tools” menu from the MusicIP MyDJ Plug-In and then the “Options…” sub-menu. By checking the “Use Extended Analysis” checkbox and then clicking the “OK” button, all of your songs will be validated and prepared for use on this unit.

USING THE MyDJ PLUG-IN (CONTINUED)

The box that appears will display the total number of tracks you have in your WMP library, the number of tracks that are ready to be used on this unit and the number of tracks that could use further validation or extended analysis.

NOTE: Selecting a “Processor Load” of “Maximum” may significantly impact the performance of your computer. If you intend to use your computer while running “Extended Analysis” in the background, select “Low”.

Checking for Mixable Tracks

In order to use the MyDJ feature on this unit, you will need to add at least 25 tracks that have been analyzed using the MyDJ Plug-In. You can enable a column within WMP 10 that will indicate if the track is MyDJ ready by following the steps below:

1. In WMP 10, right-click on one of the column headings within your library.

2. Click on “More…” at the very bottom of the list.

3. In the window that appears, ensure that there is a check next to “Custom 1”.

4. Click the “OK” button to save the preferences.

5. Within your library, scroll to the right until you see the “Custom 1” column.

USING THE MUSICIP MIXER

For Mac OS X Step 1: Locate Music Files

The first time the MusicIP Mixer is run, it will prompt you to import music from your iTunes database, Music folder or from another source folder of your choice.

Based on your selection, tracks from the iTunes database, Music folder or other source will be imported into the MusicIP Mixer library.

Step 2: Analyze Your Music

Once the import process is complete, the MusicIP Mixer will analyze your tracks and save the data to a cache file on your computer. During the analysis process, the Mixer will detect your audio files’ unique acoustic characteristics for use in creating playlists. Tracks will change from gray to black as they are being analyzed.

Step 3: Archive Analysis

You must save the analysis data to your audio files before transferring them to the device. To save analysis data, select the track(s) within the Mixer, Ctrl-click, and choose “Archive Analysis into Music”. When analysis information is saved to your files, they are slightly altered to store MusicIP tags. Once the analysis data has been saved to your

tracks, they are ready to be used for instant playlist creation on your device.

Viewing Analysis Status (Optional)

To view the progress of the analysis process, click on the MusicIP analysis icon in your OS X menu bar and select “Open Status…”. You can stop the analysis process by selecting “Stop Analysis”. The analysis status window displays the number of tracks that have analysis remaining

and the amount of time remaining for each analysis process. You may close the analysis status window at any time by clicking the “X” icon in the upper left-hand corner.

Step 4: Transfer Analyzed Tracks to Your Device

To transfer analyzed tracks to your device, please see page 19.

For Windows XP Step 1: Locate Music Files

Analysis progress details are located in the bottom left corner of the Mixer’s status bar. This data is visible at any time during the analysis process.

SAFELY REMOVE HARDWARE

SAFELY REMOVING YOUR PLAYER FROM THE COMPUTER (FOR WINDOWS ME OR 2000) NOTE:

To avoid damage to your player or data loss, always follow the procedure listed below

before disconnecting your player from the USB port on your computer.

Using your mouse, double click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon on the task bar.

From the "Safely Remove Hardware" window (shown lower right), select "USB Mass Storage Device" and click the "Stop" button. The "Stop a Hardware Device" window will pop-up. Click "OK". When the "Safe to Remove Hardware" window is displayed, you may remove the player from the USB cable or remove the USB cable from the computer.

NOTES:

• If the “Safely Remove Hardware” icon is not displayed on the task bar, please double-click on My Computer. Right-click on “Removable Disk” and left-click on “Eject”. Then it is safe to remove the player from the computer.

• If you are using Windows XP and the Windows Media Player 10 software is already installed, then you do not need to follow the above "Safely Remove Hardware" procedure.

USING AN EXTERNAL MEMORY CARD

EXTERNAL MEMORY CARD TO AVOID DAMAGE, make sure the unit is off before inserting or

removing the card.

1. Remove the top cover by pressing the Open button, then

lifting the top cover up to remove it as shown in Figure 1.

2. Insert a SD/MMC memory card (not included) up to 1GB,

label side facing the rear of the player, as shown in Figure 2.

3. Connect the USB cable as described previously.

4. Drag MP3 and WMA files into the SD/MMC memory card's

"Removable Disk" window.

NOTE: A WMA file with DRM will not playback if you directly drag and drop it into the “Removable Disk” window. See page 21 for downloading WMA files with DRM from the computer to your player.

5. To remove the SD/MMC memory card,

push the edge of the card and the card will spring out. Carefully remove the card, as shown in Figure 3.

6. Replace the top cover until it snaps in place.

OPERATION

TURNING THE POWER ON/OFF

LOCK FEATURE

Turn the unit on by pressing the Power On/Off/ Stop button; the Memorex start screen will appear in the display temporarily. Then the Music Player menu will appear and the MP3/WMA track’s information will appear in the display. To turn the unit off, press and hold the Power On/Off/Stop button; “Hold Down To Power Off” will appear in the display. The unit will turn off after it counts up from box one to three. Do not release the Power On/Off/Stop button until the unit turns off.

NOTE: After you have transferred music files to the player, when you turn on the player, the “Memorex” start screen will appear in the display temporarily followed by “Create New Music Playlist”. It will take several seconds to several minutes to update the player’s library or the music files depending on the number of songs that you transferred to the player. When done, the Music Player menu will appear in the display.

With the unit on, press and hold the MENU/Lock button until LOCKED appears in the display; no buttons will function. This is useful when you do not want the track changed by accidentally pressing a button. Press and hold the MENU/Lock button until UNLOCKED appears in the display to cancel the Lock function.

TO LISTEN TO THE FM RADIO

Turn the unit on by pressing the Power On/Off/Stop button; the Memorex start screen will appear in the display temporarily. Then the Music Player menu will appear and the MP3/WMA’s track information will appear in the display.
