2. Using the Tester
2.1 Network Cable Testing
TO AVOID ELECTRICAL SHOCK AND INJURY, UNPOWER THE CIRCUIT WHILE PERFORMING TESTS.

2.1.1 E rror Indi cator
A wire pai r indicat or flashe s (indica tor #13,1 4,15,16 ) indic ates an err or in the con nection . Error ind icator flash es specif y an error. If m ore than on e wire pair indic ator flas hes, trou bleshoo t on each cas e until all the ind icators g o back to GRE EN(Norm al).

Follo w the steps : a) Conn ect one of th e wires to RJ 45 transm itter soc ket. b) Conn ect the oth er end to RJ4 5 receive r socket. c) Turn th e Tester pow er on. d) Pres s “TEST” bu tton once t o start tes ting. e) Duri ng the test p ress “TES T” button a gain to sto p testi ng.
Examp le: wires p air 1-2 and p air 3-6 are s hort circ uit. In test m ode, the er ror indic ators wil l show as fol lowing:
1-2 and 3 -6 indica tors flas h green lig hts, shor t circuit indic ator flas h red light .
4-5 ind icator sh ows green l ights (no e rror)
7-8 ind icator sh ows green l ights (no e rror)
2.1.3 D ebug Mode
In Debu g Mode, det ail of the co nnectio n error is displ ayed. Con dition of e very pair o f wires is sh own twice i n order. Wit h the wire pa ir indica tors and er ror indic ators, th e network c able can be i ndentif ied and debug ged. Foll ow the step s: a) Conn ect one end o f wire to RJ4 5 transmi tter sock et. b) Conn ect the oth er end of wir e to receiv er socket . c) Powe r on the Teste r, power ind icator is o n.
d) Pres s and hold “T EST” butt on until al l the wire pa irs and err or indica tors are al l on, relea se the butt on after ward. e) Dete rmine the e rror from t he indica tors. f) If a wir e pair indi cator tur ns green tw ice (one sh ort, one lon g), and oth er error in dicator s are off, t hen the wir e pair is in go od condit ion. g) If the w ire pair ma lfuncti ons, the co rrespon ding indic ator will f lash once a nd then tur n on (long) again w ith the err or indica tor on. h) In deb ugging mo de, press a nd releas e the “TEST ” butto n to end the de bug.

2.4.1 S ending Audio Fre quency Si gnal:
Conne ct both lea ds(“RJ4 5” Adaptor “ BNC”Ada ptor “RJ11” Adaptorthe red l ead and bac k lead) on th e trans mitter to t he networ k cable (or c onnect th e red lead to targ et cable an d black lea d to ground d epends on t he circu it). Turn th e transmi tter swit ch to “TON E” mode and the ind icator wi ll lights u p. Press an d hold rece iver powe r butto n, move the r eceiver c lose to the t arget net work to recei ve signal . Adjust rec eiver vol ume throu gh sensit ivity switc h.
Use “TONE” mode o n transmi tter alon g with the recei ver to trac k cable. Co nnect the w ire adapt or to the tar get netwo rk (or conn ect the red l ead to targ et cable a nd black le ad to groun d depends o n the circu it). Switc h to “TONE ” mode on the t ransmit ter, “TONE” indic ator turn s on. Press a nd hold the p ower butt on on the re ceiver. Mo ve the rece iver near t he target netwo rk to recei ve audio fr equency s ignal. The tester detec ts the dire ction and c ontinui ty of the net work cabl e. Adjus t receive r volume th rough sen sitivit y switch.
2.4.2 Tr acking Ne twork Cab le
2.5 Telephone Line Modes Test ing
Turn the sw itch on the t ransmit ter to “OFF ” mode. When th e target te lephone l ine is at wor k, connec t the red lea d to RING lin e and the bla ck lead to TIP li ne, If, a) “CON T” indica tor turns g reen, the t elephon e line is idle . b) “CON T” indica tor stays o ff, the te lephone l ine is off- hook. c) “CON T” indica tor turns g reen alon g with peri odic red fla sh, the tel ephone li ne is in vibr ate mode. d) When c onnect re ceiver an tenna to an e xplored telep hone wire , press and h old the rec eiver pow er
butto n to receiv e the audio s ignal.
2.5.1 D ifferen tiate TIP or RING wir e:
Turn the sw itch on the t ransmit ter to “OFF ”, co nnec t the cor respond ing wire ad aptor to th e open tele phone lines i n the netwo rk. If, a) “CON T” indica tor turns g reen, the r ed lead on th e trans mitter co nnects to R ING of the te lephone l ine. b) “CON T” indica tor turns r ed, the red l ead on the trans mitter co nnects to TIP of the telep hone line .
