From Jim Marshall
I would like to thank you personally for selecting the
new 10 Watt MG10KK Kerry King combo.
During the development of the JCM800 2203KK, Kerry's signature Marshall Head, he often mentioned his use of the MG10CD, one always on tour with him and one always kept at home. With this in mind I decided that we would extend our thanks and produce an MG10KK, a special edition MG10CD echoing the design of the 2203KK.
The MG Series raises the standard for what can be expected from a value-for-money range of guitar amplifiers, some might dismiss the MG10KK as only being 10 Watts, but not me, its 10 Watts of tone that delivers the Marshall sound and as we've seen strong enough to take the knocks of a world tour or two.
Kerry worked with my graphics team and hand picked the final design. The classic gold Marshall panel has been stained red while its black knobs and tribal tattoo design are in stark contrast to its bold white text. The result is an amp that in Kerry's words truly has been 'reigned in blood'
Both Kerry and I believe that effort and dedication fuel our lives and to help guide you on your own way alongside this combo and handbook you'll find an exclusive DVD featuring a lesson from Kerry himself. The MG10KK is a versatile amp, perfect for someone just taking their first steps as a guitarist, as an ideal companion for warming up at gigs or for just being there for when inspiration hits, this combo is ready and waiting.
Whichever path you're on I would like to wish you every success with your new amplifier and welcome you to the ever increasing Marshall family.

1. INPUT jack
Use a good quality guitar (screened) cable to
plug your guitar in here.
2. Clean VOLUME control
When the OD Select switch is ‘out’, this control adjusts the volume of the Clean Channel. At low settings the sound will be very clean with a belllike ring. Turning this control above half way will introduce a desirable, bluesy distortion as the power amplifier is driven into ‘crunch mode’.
3. OD (Overdrive) SELECT switch
Depressing the Overdrive Select Switch will engage the Overdrive Channel.
4. Overdrive GAIN control
Turning up the Overdrive Gain Control will increase the amount of distortion generated in the Overdrive channel. Low gain settings will produce classic rock and blues tones. Crank the Gain for fat and aggressive sounds that are perfect for soloing or hard rock and nu-metal riffs.
5. Overdrive VOLUME control
Amazingly enough, this control adjusts the volume of the Overdrive channel!
The louder this channel is set, the ‘looser’ the amplifier will sound and feel. This behaviour is exactly what a good all-valve amplifier does and is a result of our proprietary FDD circuitry.
6. CONTOUR control
This highly effective tone control works on both the Clean and Overdrive channels. By radically modifying the mid-range (body), the tone can range from traditional and woody sounding (setting at 10), to aggressive, ‘scooped’ and modern (setting at 0) and all points in-between.
7. CD IN & EMULATED LINE OUT jack
The MG10KK cleverly combines its Line Out and CD Input functions. If you want to jam to your favourite CD or tape, merely connect the headphone output of your CD or tape player here, adjust the player’s volume to match that of your guitar and ‘hey-presto’ – you've got the perfect ‘play-along’ practice system.
Alternatively, you can use this socket to connect the MG10KK to your multi-track recording machine and you'll get a great guitar sound direct to disk or tape.
HELPFUL HINT: for ‘silent’ recording merely
plug an unconnected jack plug to the headphone socket and you’ll disconnect the MG10KK’s internal speaker.
8. EMULATED HEADPHONES jack
Plug your headphones here for a killer speaker emulated sound! Doing this mutes your MG10KK’s internal speaker for ‘silent’ practice.
9. POWER Switch & LED
The power switch turns your amplifier on and off. The LED will be lit when your amplifier is on and will not be lit when the amplifier is switched off.
Note: Before connecting to the mains electricity supply, always ensure that your electricity supply is compatible with your amplifier, as detailed on the rear panel.
Please ensure the amplifier is switched off and unplugged from the mains electricity supply before being moved.
