2. General information about remote control
2.1 Special features of remote control
A number of different modes are available. Here, “TV” means the television set, “VCR” a video-recorder, “SAT” a satellite receiver, etc. The 4IN1 can replace up to 3 remote control units. You can enter the existing codes directly from the code list.
Controlling your equipment from any place in your home
Your remote is designed to work together with the Marmitek Powermid receiver. With this receiver its possible to control audio and video equipment from another room or even outside the house, using your Marmitek 4in1 remote control. Just plug the receiver into the wall socket and place it in line of sight of your equipment.
3
Note: Only those functions can be controlled remotely that are also remotely controllable from the standard control unit. The codes for the individual makes and items of home entertainment equipment are to be found in the code list .
2.2 Infra-red transmission
If a button has been pressed and not released again, the remote control unit is programmed in such a way that it breaks off after approx. 30 seconds. This function is designed to prevent a drain on the batteries in case the remote control unit should (for instance) slip down the side of a chair so that a button remains pressed down.
2.3 Code library
The codes for the most frequently available television sets, video recorders and satellite recievers are available in the code list library, and a complete list in the Code List attached to these usage instructions.
Note: The three-digit code numbers allocated in this library are not the same as the ones in the code libraries drawn up by other manufacturers.
2.4 Punch Through
The punch through allows the user to activate the “volume” and “mute” controls of the television set even when the remote control unit is in “VCR” or “SAT” mode, without having to switch back to “TV”.
2.5 Entering codes directly from the code library The codes for the various items of equipment can be found in the code list attached to these instructions. The code has to be entered as follows:
1. Press the “SETUP” button and hold it down until the diode lights up.
2. Release the “SETUP” button
3. Press the required mode-button (TV, VCR, SAT, etc.)
4. Enter the 3-digit code from the code table. The diode will acknowledge each time a button is pressed.
5. If the code entered is the right one, the diode will go out when the last digit has been entered. If an invalid code is entered, the diode will flash for three seconds before going out.
6. The direct transfer of the code for your set has now been completed.
NOTE: If a number of codes are shown for one manufacturer, please try them all out until you find the right one. After the code has been entered, check that the television set reacts correctly to commands from the remote control unit. If no functioning code can be found under the name of the manufacturer, a code search will have to be carried.
2.6 Code search
You have the facility available of searching through the all codes in the library in order to find a certain television set that does not appear in the library list or that does appear in the library but under another manufacturer’s name.
4
1. Turn the item of equipment (TV, VCR, etc.) on manually that you wish to control
2. Press the “SETUP” button down and hold it down until the diode lights up.
3. Release the “SETUP” button.
4. Press the button briefly for the required mode (TV, VCR, SAT, etc.)
5. Press the “CHANNEL +” button (next channel upwards in the list), or “POWER’, or “PLAY” (only applies to VCR) as many times as necessary until the equipment that is to be controlled changes channel or reacts appropriately. If the user accidentally overshoots the required code, he or she should press the “REW” (symbol) button as many times as necessary to go back through the library until the equipment changes channel or reacts appropriately.
6. Press the “ENTER” key briefly to install the code. The diode will go out.
7. The transfer of the code from the code-search mode has now been completed.
Note: If the equipment does not possess a “CHANNEL+” button, use the “PLAY” (only on VCR) or “POWER”button. The code search will start with the 3-digit number in this mode, e.g. if the mode contains 100 codes and the one stored at that moment is 050 the search will start at 051 and run through to 100, then jump back to 000 and continue searching through to 050. This simplifies the procedure of more than one code can control your equipment because it skips the ones it has already tested.
Note: It should be noted, when entering or searching for codes, that the correct code is not entered until the television set is completely capable of being operated. If only a limited number of functions can be controled remotely, a different code needs to be entered or searched out. Only those functions can be controlled remotely that are also remotely controllable from the standard control unit.
2.7 Code identification
This is the facility for checking on the code that has already been entered.
1. Press the “SETUP”button and hold it down until the diode lights up.
2. Release the “SETUP”button.
3. Briefly press the button for the required mode (TV, VCR, SAT, etc.). The diode will go out for a moment to show that the signal has been received.
4. Press the “SETUP”button briefly. The diode will go out for a moment to acknowledge that the button has been pressed.
5. In order to see the first digit of the code, press the number buttons from 0 to 9. When the diode goes out for a moment, this indicates the first number stored. Repeat the procedure to identify the second and third digits.
6. The diode will go out as soon as the button for the third digit has been pressed.
7. This completes the process of identifying the code.

Note: When batteries are replaced, the empty ones must be disposed of in an environmentally sensible manner.
