Grounding Instructions
This vaccum is designed for picking up dry, non-flammable dust and liquids.
This vacuum is designed for commercial use, such as e.g. in
• Hotels, Schools, Hospitals, Factories, Shops, Offices.
The manufacturer accepts no liability for any damage resulting from improper use. The risk for such use is borne solely by the user. Proper use also includes proper operation, servicing and repairs as specified by the manufacturer.
1. Before transporting the tank, close all the locks.
2. Do not tilt the vacuum if there is liquid in the tank.
3. Do not use a crane hook to lift the vacuum.
Store vacuum in a dry place.
This vacuum must be grounded. If it should malfunction or breakdown, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This vacuum is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding conductor and grounding plug. The plug must be inserted into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
WARNING
Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician or service person if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the appliance – if it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician.

Make sure that the appliance is connected to an outlet having the same configuration as the plug. No adaptor should be used with this appliance.
Electrical connection
Extension cord
Maintenance, cleaning and repair
It is recommended that the vacuum should be connected via a GFCI.
1. As an extension cord, only use the version specified by the manufacturer or one of a higher quality. See operating instructions.
2. When using an extension cord, check the minimum cross-sections of the cable:
Cable length Cross section
0 - 25 feet
25 - 50 feet 12 AWG
> 50 feet Not recommended
Only carry out maintenance work described in the operating instructions. Be sure that the vacuum is switched off and unplugged.
Before using the vacuum make sure that the voltage shown on the rating plate on the vacuum corresponds with the main voltage. This vacuum is equipped with a thermal cut-out to protect the motor and other vital vacuum parts from overheating. Should the vacuum cut out, check that nothing blocks the motor cooling inlet on the backside of the vacuum, wait for the vacuum to cool down and start again. If the issue persists, contact Makita factory service center.

4 Applications and techniques
4.1 Techniques
4.1.1 Picking up dry substances
4.1.2 Picking up liquids
If used correctly, additional accessories, suction nozzles and suction hoses can enhance the cleaning action and reduce the cleaning effort. Effective cleaning is achieved if you follow just a few guidelines in combination with your own practical experience in special fields.
Here are some basic tips.
Before picking up dry substances, always ensure that a filter bag is inserted in the tank (see page 23 for part #'s).
After picking up liquids, the filter element is wet. A damp filter element clogs more quickly when dry substances are picked up. For this reason the filter element should be washed and dried or replaced by a dry element before dry substances are picked up.
Before liquids are picked up, always remove the filter bag/disposal bag.
If foam appears at exhaust vents, stop work immediately and properly dispose of chemicals in the tank in accordance with the applicable regulations.
