Inside you will find many helpful hints on how to use and
maintain your coffeemaker properly. Just a little preventive care
on your part can save you a great deal of time and money over
the life of your coffeemaker.
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and/or injury to persons,
basic safety precautions should always be followed when using
electrical appliances, including the following:
1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THE
COFFEEMAKER.
2. Do not touch the coffeemaker’s hot surfaces. Use handles or
knobs.
3. To protect against electric shock, do not immerse the power
cord, power plug or coffeemaker in water or in any other
liquid.
4. Close adult supervision is necessary when this appliance is
used by or near children.
5. Turn the coffeemaker OFF and unplug the power cord from the
power source when the coffeemaker is not in use and before
cleaning. Allow the coffeemaker parts to cool before putting
on or taking off parts and before cleaning the appliance.
6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged power cord or
power plug, or operate it after the appliance malfunctions, or
has been damaged in any manner. Return this appliance only
to the nearest Authorized Service Center for examination,
repair or adjustment.
7. The use of accessory attachments is not recommended by the
manufacturer.
8. Do not use the coffeemaker outdoors.
9. Do not let the power cord hang over edge of table or counter,
or allow it to come into contact with hot surfaces.
10. Do not place this coffeemaker on or near a hot gas stove or
electric burner or in a heated oven.

11. To disconnect the coffeemaker, turn it OFF, then remove the
power plug from the power supply.
12. Place the appliance on a hard, flat, level surface to avoid
interruption of airflow underneath the coffeemaker.
13. Avoid contact with any moving parts.
14. This coffeemaker is designed for household use only.
15. Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
16. Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during brewing cycles.
CARAFE USE AND CARE
Follow the instructions below to reduce or eliminate the chance
of breaking the glass carafe:
• This carafe is designed for use with your Magic Chef®
coffeemaker and therefore must never be used on a range top
or in any oven, including a microwave oven.
• Do not set a hot carafe on a wet or cold surface.
• Do not use a cracked carafe or a carafe having a loose or
weakened handle.
• Do not clean the carafe with abrasive cleaners, steel wool pads
or other abrasive materials.
• Discard the carafe immediately if it is ever boiled dry.
• Protect the carafe from sharp blows, scratches or rough
handling.
THIS UNIT IS INTENDED
FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY
This appliance is for HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY. No user-serviceable
parts inside. Power unit never needs lubrication. Do not attempt
to service this product.
A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk resulting
from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
An extension cord may be used if care is exercised in its use. If
an extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the
extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating
of the coffeemaker.
The cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the
countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or
tripped over unintentionally. Do not immerse in water or other
liquids. No liability can be accepted for any damage cause by noncompliance with these instructions or any other improper use or
mishandling.
POLARIZED PLUG
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider
than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock,
this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only
one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet,
reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do
not attempt to modify the plug in any way. If the plug fits loosely into
the AC outlet or if the AC outlet feels warm, do not use that outlet.

IMPORTANT: CLEAN BEFORE USING THE FIRST TIME!
Wash carafe, lid and removable filter basket in mild detergent

and water. Rinse each thoroughly. Follow steps 4 through 6 below
(with water only) to clean the inside of your coffeemaker.
BREWING COFFEE
1. Slide the filter basket open and insert a standard 8 to 12-cup
paper filter into the inner filter basket.
2. Add desired amount of coffee (refer to the chart on pg. E6 for
suggested measurement). Shake lightly to level coffee.
3. Be sure the paper filter is properly centered before sliding the

filter basket into place.
4. Fill the carafe with tap water to desired capacity as marked
on the side of the carafe. (1 cup equals 5 ounces). For easy and
accurate filling, a line marking can be found inside the reservoir
that represents the 12 cup mark.
5. Pour the water into the water reservoir. Place the empty carafe
onto the warming plate.
6. Turn your coffeemaker switch ON. When coffee stops flowing,
the brewing cycle is complete.
7. Carefully remove the filter basket and discard the used
grounds and filter. Rinse the filter basket and replace.
8. To make another pot of coffee, repeat Steps 1 through 7.
9. Be sure to turn your coffeemaker OFF when the carafe is
empty and you are no longer using your coffeemaker. Unplug
the power cord when not using the coffeemaker.

PAUSE N’ SERVE FEATURE
Allows you to up to 30 seconds to pour a cup of coffee while the
coffeemaker is still brewing. Carefully remove the carafe and the
Pause n’ Serve feature will be automatically activated, temporarily
stopping the flow of coffee into the carafe.
To avoid risk of personal injury or damage to property as a result
of overflow, be sure that the carafe is squarely centered under the
brew basket during brewing cycle. Brewed coffee and grounds,
both in brew basket and carafe, are very hot. Handle with care to
avoid scalding. If brew basket overflows, or if brew basket fails to
drain into carafe during brew cycle, do not open or handle basket.
Unplug coffeemaker, and wait for contents to cool before
handling!

CARE AND CLEANING
CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Do not immerse. Switch off unit and unplug from outlet before
cleaning. Clean appliance surface with a damp cloth.
Your coffeemaker must be cleaned when you begin to notice
excessive steaming or the brewing time increases considerably.
This condition is caused by a buildup of lime and mineral deposits
from your water.
If the pumping action stops before all the water has been pumped
out of the machine, then the appliance requires cleaning. The
frequency of cleaning depends on the hardness of water used. The
following table gives the suggested cleaning intervals.

Pour one quart of undiluted white household vinegar into your
coffeemaker.
1. Place a paper filter into the filter basket and slide the filter
basket into place.
2. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate and turn the
coffeemaker ON. When four cups have flowed through, turn
the coffeemaker OFF and let stand for 1/2 hour.
3. After 1/2 hour, pour the vinegar back into the coffeemaker.
4. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate. Turn the
coffeemaker ON and let all of the vinegar flow through.

5. Discard the vinegar and the paper filter.
6. To flush out all traces of vinegar, pour a carafe full of tap water
into the coffeemaker, turn it ON, and allow it all to cycle
through.
7. Discard the water and turn the coffeemaker OFF.
CARAFE CLEANING
Hard water can leave a whitish mineral deposit inside the carafe.
Coffee and tea discolor these deposits, sometimes leaving a
brownish stain inside the carafe. To remove these stains, follow
these simple steps:
1. Use a solution of equal parts white vinegar and hot water.
2. Let solution stand in carafe for about 20 minutes and then
discard.
3. Wash and rinse the carafe thoroughly using a soft cloth. Do not
use harsh abrasive cleaners. These may cause scratches which
can lead to breakage.
4. Carafe and filter basket are top shelf dishwasher safe.

mantenimiento correctos de su cafetera. El cuidados preventivos
pueden ahorrarle mucho tiempo y dinero durante la vida útil de

SEGURIDAD
Para disminuir el riesgo de un incendio, descarga eléctrica y/o
lesión a las personas, se deben seguir las precauciones básicas
de seguridad al utilizarse equipos eléctricos, incluyendo las
siguientes:
1. LEA TODAS LAS INSTRUCCIONES ANTES DE UTILIZAR LA

2. No toque las superficies calientes de la cafetera. Utilice
agarraderas o perillas.
3. Para protegerse de una descarga eléctrica, no sumerja el cordel

Este aparato es para USO DOMESTICO SOLAMENTE. En el interior
no hay piezas a las que el usuario les pueda dar mantenimiento. El
motor de la unidad no necesita lubricación.
Se provee un cordón eléctrico corto para reducir el riesgo de
enredos o tropiezos que pueda causar un cordón largo. Se puede
utilizar un cable de extensión si lo hace con cuidado. Si usa un
cable de extensión, la capacidad nominal eléctrica del cable de
extensión deber ser al menos del mismo valor que la capacidad
eléctrica de la cafetera.
El cordón debe colocarse de manera que no cuelgue del
mostrador o mesa donde los niños puedan jalarlo o tropezarse
con él accidentalmente. No lo sumerja en agua ni en otro líquido.

el incumplimiento de estas instrucciones o cualquier otro uso o
manejo indebido.

ENCHUFE POLARIZADO

Este aparato tiene un enchufe polarizado (una pata
es más ancha que la otra). Para reducir el riesgo de
descarga eléctrica, este enchufe está diseñado para
ajustarse sólo de una forma en un tomacorriente
a
polarizado. Si el enchufe no se ajusta completamente en el
tomacorriente, dé vuelta al enchufe. Si todavía no se ajusta, contacte a
un electricista calificado. No intente modificar el enchufe de ninguna
manera. Si el enchufe está flojo en el tomacorriente de CA, o si el
tomacorriente se siente caliente, no utilice ese tomacorriente.

CÓMO USAR SU CAFETERA
IMPORTANTE: ¡LÍMPIELA ANTES DE USARLA POR PRIMERA VEZ!
Lave la jarra, la tapa y la cesta del filtro removible con un detergente
suave y agua. Enjuague todo a fondo. Siga los pasos 4 a 6 de abajo
(con agua solamente) para limpiar el interior de su cafetera.
INSTRUCCIONES PARA PREPARAR CAFÉ
1. Deslice la cesta del filtro hacia afuera para abrir inserte un
filtro de papel estándar de 8 a 12 tazas dentro de la cesta
interna del filtro.
2. Agregue la cantidad de café deseada (consulte la tabla en la
página S7 para las medidas sugeridas). Sacuda ligeramente para
nivelar el café.
3. Asegúrese de que el filtro de papel se centre correctamente
antes de deslizar la cesta del filtro en su lugar.
4. Llene la jarra con agua de nuevo a la capacidad deseada según
lo marcado en el costado de la jarra. (1 taza es igual a 5 onzas).
Para un llenado fácil y exacto, se puede encontrar una línea
marcada dentro del depósito de agua que representa la marca
de 12 tazas.
5. Vierta el agua dentro del depósito de agua. Coloque la jarra
vacía sobre la placa calentadora.
6. Encienda su cafetera. Cuando el café pare de fluir, el ciclo de
colado está completo.
7. Quite cuidadosamente la cesta del filtro y deseche el grano de
café y el filtro usados. Enjuague la cesta del filtro y vuélvala a
su sitio.
8. Para hacer otra jarra de café, repita los Pasos 1 a 7.

9. Asegúrese de apagar su cafetera cuando la jarra esté vacía
y usted ya no la esté usando. Desenchufe el cordón de
alimentación cuando no use la cafetera.

FUNCIÓN PAUSAR Y SERVIR
Le permite hasta 30 segundos para servir una taza de
café mientras la cafetera todavía lo esté preparando. Con
cuidado retire la jarra y la función Pausar y servir se activará
automáticamente, interrumpiendo de manera temporal el flujo
del café a la jarra.
Para evitar el riesgo de lesión personal o de daños a la propiedad
como resultado de un rebalse, asegúrese que la jarra este bien
centrada debajo de la cesta del filtro durante el ciclo de
preparación. El café colado y los granos molidos, tanto en la cesta
como en la jarra, están muy calientes. Maneje con cuidado para
evitar quemaduras. Si la cesta del filtro se desborda o falla en
drenar dentro de la jarra durante el ciclo de preparación, no abra
ni tome la cesta con la mano. Desenchufe la cafetera, y espere a
que el contenido se enfríe antes de manipularla.

CUIDADO Y LIMPIEZA
INSTRUCCIONES DE LIMPIEZA
No sumerja esta unidad en ningon uquido. Apague y desconecte
la unidad del tomacorriente antes de limpiar. Limpie la superficie
del aparato con un paño húmedo.
Limpie su cafetera cuando comience a notar vapor excesivo o
aumente el tiempo de preparación considerablemente. Esta
condición es causada por una acumulación de cal y de depósitos
minerales de su agua. Si la acción de bombeo se detuviera antes
de que haya sido bombeada toda el agua de la máquina, artefacto
requiere limpieza. La frecuencia de limpieza depende de la dureza
del agua usada. La tabla siguiente da los intervalos de limpieza
sugeridos.

Vierta un cuarto de galón de vinagre blanco doméstico no diluido
en su cafetera.
1. Coloque un filtro de papel en la cesta del filtro y deslice la
cesta del filtro en su lugar.
2. Coloque la jarra vacía en la placa calentadora y encienda la
cafetera. Cuando hayan pasado cuatro tazas, apague la cafetera
y deje reposar por media hora.
3. Después de media hora, vierta el vinagre de nuevo dentro de la

5. Deseche el vinagre y el filtro de papel.

LIMPIEZA DE LA JARRA
El agua dura puede dejar un depósito mineral blanquecino dentro
de la jarra. El café y el té descoloran estos depósitos, dejando a
veces una mancha pardusca dentro de la jarra. Para quitar estas
manchas, siga estos pasos simples:
1. Use una solución de vinagre blanco en partes iguales con agua
caliente.
2. Deje reposar la solución en la jarra por unos 20 minutos y
después deséchela.
3. Lave y enjuague la jarra a fondo usando una tela suave. No use
limpiadores abrasivos ásperos. Éstos pueden causar rasguños
que pueden conducir a su rotura.
4. La jarra y la cesta del filtro se pueden lavar en la repisa
superior de su lavadora de platos.

período de un año a partir de la fecha de compra, este producto estará libre de defectos de materiales y mano de obra. JCS,
a su elección, reparará o reemplazará este producto o cualquier componente del mismo que presente defectos durante el

Si el producto ya no estuviera disponible, se lo reemplazará por un producto similar de valor igual o superior. Ésta es su

La garantía es válida para el comprador minorista original a partir de la fecha de compra inicial y la misma no es transferible.

agentes y centros de servicio de JCS o las tiendas minoristas que venden productos de JCS no tienen derecho a alterar,
modificar ni cambiar de ningún otro modo los términos y las condiciones de esta garantía.
Esta garantía no cubre el desgaste normal de las piezas ni los daños que se produzcan como resultado de uso negligente
o mal uso del producto, uso de voltaje incorrecto o corriente inapropiada, uso contrario a las instrucciones operativas, y
desarme, reparación o alteración por parte de un tercero ajeno a JCS o a un Centro de Servicio autorizado por JCS. Asimismo,
la garantía no cubre actos fortuitos tales como incendios, inundaciones, huracanes y tornados.
¿Cuál es el límite de responsabilidad de JCS?
JCS no será responsable de daños incidentales o emergentes causados por el incumplimiento de alguna garantía o
condición expresa, implícita o legal.
