Play Rock Band 3 Pro mode using the Squier by Fender Stratocaster Guitar and Controller, and most MIDI-compatible keyboard and drum controllers.* *See below for more details on compatibility.

IMPORTANT Before using Rock Band 3 (the “software”) or the drum, guitar, keyboard, microphone, and/or MIDI adapter intended for use with the software (each, a “controller”) with the PlayStation 3 Console, please read the PlayStation 3 Console instruction manual for safety, health, and all other information and instructions regarding the proper use of the PlayStation 3 Console. For ease of reference, the term “game” shall refer collectively to the software and any and all controllers.

All questions regarding the PlayStation 3 Console should be directed to the manufacturer.

Important Information about Safety and the Proper Care and operations of controllers:

• Do not modify, disassemble or attempt to open any controller.

• Do not expose any controller to extreme conditions, including direct sunlight or excessive humidity.

• Do not expose any controller to liquids.

• If cleaning is necessary, use a dry cloth to clean the affected area. Never use chemicals.

• If a controller causes interference to radio or television reception, (you can determine this by turning the controller off and on), the user is encour-

aged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:

MIDI DRUM NOTE MAPPING

In order to accommodate a wide variety of electronic drum kits, the MIDI PRO-Adapter features an onboard MIDI Note Map to communicate with the Rock Band 3 game software. The table below speciﬁes MIDI Transmit Numbers per trigger type, along with the corresponding in-game function. BOLD numbers are deﬁned by the current MIDI Speciﬁcation. Subsequent numbers are assignments used by various electronic drum manufacturers.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

QUESTION: My MIDI instrument will not function in the game; why not? ANSWER:

1. Ensure you have plugged the MIDI PRO-Adapter into the console.

2. Ensure you have selected the correct instrument on the 3-way switch.

3. Check that the MIDI instrument has power/batteries.

4. Conﬁrm that the cables going from the MIDI instrument to the MIDI PRO-Adapter are ﬁrmly connected.

5. If sensitivity on the Velocity Wheel is completely reduced, drum strikes may not pass.

QUESTION: How do I activate the Overdrive function with my MIDI instrument? ANSWER: The MIDI PRO-Adapter has a designated Overdrive button (diagram Part G) for the Squier by Fender Stratocaster Guitar and Controller, and

keyboards only. Though the Overdrive button does function in Guitar Mode, the user also has the option of tilting the Squier by Fender Stratocaster Guitar and Control-

ler to deploy Overdrive.

QUESTION: How are the keys of my MIDI keyboard mapped in-game?

ANSWER: In Pro mode, keys are mapped from c3 to c5 and the pitch wheel is enabled. In Standard mode, the white keys only are mapped from c4 to g4. QUESTION: Will the MIDI PRO-Adapter work with my Rock Band 2 game?

ANSWER: Yes. Only in Drums Mode. QUESTION: Why is the MIDI Input Indicator LED ﬂashing in an S.O.S. pattern?

ANSWER: Some MIDI instruments (like the Squier by Fender Stratocaster Guitar and Controller) send out an Active Sense message. If the MIDI PRO-

Adapter is in Guitar Mode, the LED will ﬂash in an S.O.S. pattern when the PRO-Guitar controller is switched OFF or disconnected. The pattern will stop ﬂashing when the device is reconnected and a MIDI message is received by the MIDI PRO-Adapter.

The S.O.S. pattern will also occur if the PRO-Adapter ceases to receive Active Sense from any MIDI instrument in any instrument mode. If the instrument does not send an Active Sense signal, the PRO-Adapter will not be expecting it and the S.O.S. pattern will not occur.

QUESTION: When I play my electronic drum kit with Rock Band 3, the crash cymbal is on the left and the ride cymbal is on the right. Can I switch this? ANSWER: The MIDI PRO-Adapter receives MIDI Note assignments according to the manufacturer’s designs. Electronic drum kit manufacturers generally

map their kits according to common rock or jazz setups. If you want to change your cymbal positions, you will need to change the physical connections.

QUESTION: What functions on my MIDI keyboard device can I use in-game? ANSWER: Use the keyboard device’s pitch wheel to “whammy” on sustain tails.

Mad Catz warrants this product to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for the warranty period. This non-transferable, ninety (90) day limited warranty is only to you, the rst end-user purchaser.

If a defect covered by this warranty occurs AND you have registered your product with Mad Catz AND you provide proof of purchase, Mad Catz, at its option, will repair or replace the product at no charge.

CAUTIONS

- Use this unit only as intended.

- To prevent ﬁre or shock hazard, do not expose this unit to rain or moisture. Do not use within 30’ of any water such as swimming pools, bathtubs, or sinks.

1. Sit or stand as far from the screen as possible.

2. Play video games on the smallest available screen.

REPETITIVE MOTION INJURIES

Playing video games (and the repetitive motion involved) can make your muscles, joints or skin hurt. Playing video games in moderation can help avoid such damage. Also:

• Take a 15-minute break every hour, even if you don’t think you need it.

• If your hands, wrists or arms begin to hurt or feel sore or tired, stop playing and rest them for several hours before playing again.

• If pain and soreness continues, stop playing and consult a doctor.

QUESTION : Pourquoi mon instrument MIDI ne fonctionne-t-il pas dans le jeu ? RÉPONSE :

1. Assurez-vous d'avoir branché le MIDI PRO-Adapter à la console.

2. Assurez-vous d'avoir sélectionné le bon instrument sur le commutateur à 3 positions.

3. Vériﬁez que l'instrument MIDI est alimenté/que des piles y sont insérées.

4. Vériﬁez que les câbles allant de l'instrument MIDI à l'adaptateur MIDI Pro sont bien connectés.

5. Si la sensibilité est complètement réduite sur la molette Vélocité, les frappes de batterie risquent de ne pas être transmises.

QUESTION : Comment puis-je activer la fonction Overdrive avec mon instrument MIDI ? RÉPONSE : L'adaptateur MIDI Pro dispose d'un bouton Overdrive (partie G du diagramme) prévu à cet effet.

Bien que le bouton d’Overdrive fonctionne en mode guitare, l’utilisateur a également la possibilité d’incliner le Squier par Fender Stratocaster guitare et contrôleur pour déclencher l’Overdrive.

QUESTION : Comment les touches de mon clavier MIDI sont-elles programmées dans le jeu ? RÉPONSE : En mode pro, les touches sont programmées de c3 à c5 et la molette de hauteur tonale est activée. En mode standard, seules les touches

blanches sont programmées de c4 à g4.

QUESTION : L'adaptateur MIDI Pro fonctionnera-t-il avec mon jeu Rock Band 2 ? RÉPONSE : Oui. Seulement en mode batterie.

QUESTION : Pourquoi les témoins clignotent-ils ? RÉPONSE : Certains instruments MIDI (tels que le Squier par Fender Stratocaster guitare et contrôleur) transmettent un message « Mode tactile

activé ». Si l'adaptateur MIDI est en mode guitare, les témoins clignoteront avec un signe S.O.S. lorsque la guitare est « éteinte » ou déconnectée. Le

signe arrêtera de clignoter lorsque la guitare sera reconnectée et un message MIDI sera reçu par l'adaptateur MIDI. Le signe S.O.S. apparaîtra également si PRO-Adapter cesse de recevoir le signal d’activation du mode tactile de la part d’un instrument MIDI, quel

que soit le mode de l’instrument. Si l’instrument n’envoie pas de signal d’activation du mode tactile, PRO-Adapter n'attendra pas ce signal et le signe S.O.S. n'apparaîtra pas.

QUESTION : Lorsque je joue sur mon ensemble de batterie électronique dans Rock Band 3, la cymbale Crash se situe à gauche et la cymbale Ride se situe à droite. Puis-je les inverser ? RÉPONSE : L'adaptateur MIDI reçoit les attributions de notes MIDI en fonction des conceptions du fabricant. Le fabricant d'ensembles de batterie

électronique effectuent généralement les associations en fonction des conﬁgurations jazz ou rock courantes. Si vous souhaitez modiﬁer les positions de vos cymbales, il vous faudra modiﬁer les connexions physiques.

QUESTION : Quelles sont les fonctions de mon périphérique clavier MIDI que je peux utiliser dans le jeu ? RÉPONSE : Utilisez la molette de hauteur tonale du périphérique clavier pour effectuer un vibrato sur les ﬁns soutenues.

CONSERVER ET JETER CORRECTEMENT SES PILES
