FAQ
QUESTION: Is the Keyboa rd Controller backwards-compatible?
Answer: The Rock Band K eyboard Controller is not supported by previ ous Rock Band titles.
Question: Is it okay to leave my wireless receivers plugged in even when the PlayStation 3 system is off?
Answer: It’s best to remove your wirel ess receivers from the USB connectors when n ot in use.
Question: How long shou ld I hold down the sync buttons for?
Answer: The sync button s only require a quick press and release in order to start the sync process. As soon as you see the LED state change, you can
release pressure on the button.
QUESTION: What is that black port on the side of the Keyboard?
Answer: The Rock Band K eyboard Controller has built-in MIDI functio nality that allows this peripheral to act as a MIDI controller when used with other
compatible devices. Pl ease see www.rockband.com/MIDI for more information about this feature and to download the MIDI manual.
Problem: My Keyboard Co ntroller keeps disconnecting.
Solution 1: Ensure ther e are no 2.4 GHz wireless devices around tha t could potentially interfere with your Rock Band 3 Keyboard Controller. Common
offending devices inclu de cordless phones, Wi-Fi routers, and micro waves.
Solution 2: Make sure t hat the batteries are not jarring loose duri ng play. A thin layer of duct tape, cardboard, or we ather-stripping foam on the inside of
the battery door can he lp secure the batteries during insane solos.
PROBLEM: My Keyboard Co ntroller doesn't always engage Overdrive whe n I want it to.
Solution: Because it is designed to be played either on a level sur face or while standing, there is no tradition al “tilt” functionality in the Rock Band
Keyboard. You can engage Overdrive b y pressing the Sustain button, or by using a ny Rock Band kick pedal; simply plug the peda l into the 3.5 mm jack
on the side of your Key board Controller and depress the pedal to en gage.
PROBLEM: I cannot tell if my Keyboard Controller is synced to the P layStation 3 system.
Solution: Follow the gr aphical instructions on the previous pages t o sync your Keyboard Controller to the PlaySt ation 3 system. Remember, a successful
sync should result in a steady red LED on the wireless receiver, coupled with a s teady red LED on the Keyboard Controller indi cating the assigned
player number.
PROBLEM: The game is as king me for a microphone. I don’t want to be th e singer.
Solution: If you want t o play keyboard parts, sync the Keyboard Con troller to your PlayStation 3 system, and the n use it to navigate the in-game menus.
Since the SIXAXIS™ wire less controller is used to control the vocal players’ settings, when one is connected to the Wii console, the game will look for
a microphone.
You should also be sure that the peri pheral you are using is compatible with the software title you are playing. Please see
RockBand.com/compatibil ity for more information.
PROBLEM: I have multipl e peripherals and I cannot plug them all in – there are only two ports!
Solution: Many of our R ock Band peripherals have wireless receivers that also have USB passthroughs that will al low you to attach multiple peripherals
using only two USB conn ectors. Most powered USB hubs will expand y our capabilities. Please remember to never " daisy chain" a Rock Band wireless
receiver that has a USB passthrough into another Rock Band hub with a USB passthrough. For examples of popular setups, please

DECLARATION OF CONFORMITY
Model Number: 97161
Trade Name: Rock Band 3 Wireless Keyboard
EU DECLARATION OF CONFORMITY:
As required, certain of these controllers have been tested and conform to t he requirements of the European Union Direct ives 1999/5/EC and 2004/108/EC. Authorized s ignatory of the manufacturer is Mad
Catz, Inc., 7480 Mission Valley Road, Suite 101, San Diego, CA 92108
United States and Canada:
As required, certain of these class B digital devices (the controllers) hav e been tested by Mad Catz, Inc., 7480 Missio n Valley Road, Suite 101, San Diego, CA 92108
and found to comply with part 15 of the FCC rules and the Canadian RSS-210 which sets forth limits designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interf erence in a residential installation.
These device(s) use, generate and can radiate radio frequency energy and, i f not assembled, installed and used in accor dance with the instructions, may cause harmf ul interference to radio communications. There is no guarantee t hat interference will not occur in any partic ular location or use. Operation is subject t o the following two conditions: (1) this dev ice may not cause harmful interference and
(2) this device must accept an y interference received, including interferen ce that may cause undesired operation.
Exposure to Radio Frequency Ra diation:
The radiated output power of t he controller is well within FCC radio freque ncy exposure limits for this type of device when unaltered and used as described in our instructions and the controller operates
within guidelines found in rad io frequency safety standards, which reflect t he consensus of the scientific community and therefore, the manufacturer believes the dev ice’s internal wireless radio is safe
for use by consumers. The leve l of energy emitted is far less than the elec tromagnetic energy emitted by wireless devic es such as mobile phones. However, the use of wireless rad ios may be restricted in
some situations (e.g., on airp lanes). If you are unsure of restrictions tha t may apply in any situation, you must ask f or authorization before turning on, connecti ng or using the controller.
