Using your LYRA Stylus Performance Treatment
Thank you for using our Stylus Performance Treatment (SPT). Its primary function is straightforward - by helping to keep your cartridge's stylus scrupulously clean, it assists tracking and minimizes damage to your records and cartridge. However, its benefits extend far beyond just stylus cleaning. Unlike any other stylus cleaner, we employed extensive listening tests during the development process of SPT, with the express purpose of improving the sound of your phono cartridge. Not only will it work well with our own Lyra models, but you will likely find that it offers a significant sonic boost to other high-performance cartridge designs as well. While it is easy to use, its merits will be greater if you observe the following instructions.
Slightly moisten the longer bristle part of the brush with the SPT fluid.
Application instructions
1.As shown in the illustration at left, slightly moisten the included brush at its tip (the side with the longer bristles) with the SPT fluid.
2.Use the moistened brush and clean the stylus ONLY, using gentle back-to-front motions.
3.Once the stylus has been cleaned, wait for 10 seconds before playing a record with the cartridge.
4.Once every 5 applications, clean and rinse the brush thoroughly with pure water, then let it dry.
5.Using SPT once every LP (or better yet, once every side) will help prolong the life of your cartridge's stylus.
Do's and Don'ts
Use the SPT fluid sparingly, on the stylus ONLY.
Do not get any fluid on the cantilever.
When cleaning the stylus, be gentle.
Don't put undue force on the cantilever.
How to use the brush.
Clean the stylus ONLY, using gentle back-to-front motions.
The drawings below show wrong, but commonly used ways of cleaning cartridges.
Avoid these practices, as they can cause impaired performance or outright damage to your cartridge.
Avoid cleaning the stylus with front-to-back motions of the brush.
Avoid getting fluid onto the cantilever.
Cautions
1.If you should get any SPT fluid on your skin, wash the fluid off well with water.
2.Avoid getting any SPT fluid into your eyes or mouth. If you should get any into your eyes, wash them out thoroughly with running water and consult a doctor as soon as possible.
3.Keep the bottle cap sealed tightly when this product is not being used. Keep it away from direct sunlight or high temperatures, and store it out of children's reach.
4.Use this product only for phono cartridge stylus cleaning and treatment. It is not intended for any other purpose.
