Cable/DSL Voice Enabler powered by Net2PhoneSM. The EtherFast
®
Cable/DSL Voice Enabler powered by Net2PhoneSMis the perfect solution for using your high-speed broadband Internet connection to place Voice Over IP telephone calls.†With the Voice Enabler added to your existing Internet router, you can easily enable any network solution to instantly make phone calls over the Internet. An ordinary telephone connects to the RJ-11 port (telephone jack) on the back of the Voice Enabler, and calls are routed by Net2Phone’s superior quality network to anywhere in the world—significantly reducing long distance charges.
Phone calls made over your high-speed Internet connection are clear and reliable because of superior technology—much clearer than standard phone calls over the Internet. And because you are using a standard telephone, there are no worries about incompatibility or making sound cards, modems, speakers, and microphones work together. None of your PCs even have to be turned on to make calls, so there’s no waiting for your PC to boot up to make a call. The EtherFast®Cable/DSL Voice Enabler handles all of your telephony needs once added to your existing router, switch or hub that’s connected to the Internet.

Getting to Know the Cable/DSL Voice Enabler
The Cable/DSL Voice Enabler’s Rear Panel
The rear panel of the Voice Enabler is where all of the Voice Enabler’s connections are made.
Uplink The Uplink Port is where you uplink to your
router, switch or hub. Connect one end of a UTP Category 5 cable to the Voice Enabler’s Uplink port. Connect the other end of the cable to the appropriate port on the back of your router, switch or hub (which is connected to the Internet).
Crossover Switch The Crossover Switch (X II) toggles the Uplink
port between crossover mode (X) and straightthrough mode (II). See the diagram below to determine the position the switch should be in for your situation.

The diagram above is for reference purposes only. Every network is different. If you do not make a connection to the Voice Enabler by using the settings above, change the position of the Crossover Switch.

Phone The Phone Port is where you will connect your
standard telephone.
Power The Power Port is where you will connect the
included AC Pow er adapter.
Reset Button See the section below concerning the Voice
Enabler’s Reset Button.
The Reset Button
*
Briefly pressing the Reset Button will refresh the Voice Enabler’s connections, potentially clearing any jammed links.
Pressing the Reset Button and holding it in for a few seconds will clear all of the Voice Enabler’s data and restore the factory defaults. By resetting the Voice Enabler, you run the risk of creating conflicts between your PCs’ actual IP Addresses and what the Voice Enabler thinks their IP Addresses should be. You may be forced to reboot the entire system(s).
If your Voice Enabler locks up, simply power it down for 3 to 5 seconds by removing the power cable from the Voice Enabler’s Power Port.

Cable/DSL Voice Enabler ’s Front Panel LEDs
Power Green. The Power LED illuminates when the Voice enabler
is powered on.
Diag Red. The Diag LED illuminates when the Voice Enabler
goes through its self-diagnosis mode during boot-up. It will turn off upon successful completion of the diagnosis. If this LED stays on for an abnormally long period of time, refer to the Troubleshooting section.
In Use Net2Phone Green. The Net2Phone LED illuminates when there is an
open phone connection.
Link/Act Green. The Link/Act LED serves two purposes. If the LED
is continuously illuminated, the Voice Enabler is successfully connected to a device through the Uplink port. If the LED is flickering, the Voice enabler is actively sending or receiving data.
Full/Col Green. The Full/Col LED also serves two purposes. If this
LED is continuously illuminated, the connection made through the corresponding port is successfully running in Full Duplex mode. If the LED is off, the port is operating at half duplex. If the LED is flickering, the connection is experiencing collisions. Infrequent collisions are normal. If this LED is flickering too often, there may be a problem with your connection. Check the Troubleshooting section if you think there is a problem.
100 Orange. The 100 LED illuminates when a successful
100Mbps connection is made through the corresponding port. If the LED is off, the port is operating at 10Mbps.
