Please read the instructions carefully to ensure accurate temperatures and safe opera
tion. When used properly, this high quality product will give you years of accurate,
dependable service.
FAST-READ DIGITAL THERMOMETER
SAFETY INFORMATION
■ High, prolonged fever requires medical attention (over 100.0°F or 37.8°C) for
young children. In case of high readings, please contact your physician.
■ Do not allow children to take their temperature unattended.
■ Read the enclosed instructions carefully to ensure accurate temperature readings.
Temperature readings are affected by many factors including exercise, drinking
hot or cold beverages prior to taking, and technique.
■ Do not allow children to walk or run during temperature taking. The rigid probe
could present a hazard.
■ Oral, underarm, and rectal temperatures vary by approximately 1°F (0.5°C).

HOW TO CARE FOR THIS PRODUCT
■ The thermometer should be cleaned after every use even when probe covers are
used.
■ Clean the thermometer tip and probe using isopropyl alcohol or soap and water.
Do not boil the thermometer. Do not submerge the thermometer in any liquid.
■ Store the unit in the protective case while not in use.
■ Do not store or keep in direct sunlight, or in high temperatures.
■ Do not open the thermometer except to replace the battery.
■ Do not drop the thermometer, as this may break the unit.
■ Do not attempt to disassemble the unit except to replace the battery.
WHAT IS A “NORMAL” TEMPERATURE?
Temperature readings vary among individuals. A normal temperature refers to each
individual’s average temperature while they are well. Normal average temperatures
range from 97°F/36.1°C to 100°F/37.7°C when taken orally. A rectal temperature is
considered your real or “core” body temperature. A rectal temperature is 1°F/0.5°C
higher than an oral reading and an underarm temperature is 1°F/0.5°C lower than
an oral reading.
HOW TO TAKE TEMPERATURE
1.
Select oral, underarm or rectal as your measurement site (see following instruc-
tions).
2.
Firmly push the START button. The thermometer will beep and the display will
show all display symbols. This is a function check indicating the unit is working
properly. If a previous reading is stored in memory, the thermometer will display
the last temperature for two seconds.
3. The °F or °C symbol will flash when the unit is ready to measure temperature.
Begin measurement.
4. When peak temperature is reached, the °F or °C symbol will stop flashing, and
the thermometer will beep eight times.
5. Read and record the temperature and time for reference. The reading will auto-
matically be stored in the memory until another reading is taken or the batteries
are removed from the thermometer.
6. Push the START button to turn the unit off. If you do not turn the unit off, it will
shut off automatically in approximately 9 minutes.
NOTE: If the measured temperature is higher than 99.5°F (37.5°C), the fever alarm
will beep quickly for about four seconds.
ORAL USE
■ Do not drink hot or cold fluids, exercise, smoke or
perform other activities that raise or lower temperature.
The mouth should remain closed up to 5 minutes before
attempting a reading.
■ Place the probe tip well under the tongue in locations as
indicated by the “
✔” (see diagram). Instruct children not
to bite down on the probe.
■ The approximate measurement time is 15-25 seconds.
Opening the mouth or improper placement of the probe
tip may result in a longer time for a reading.
UNDERARM (AUXILIARY) USE
■ From a medical point of view, this method will always
give an inaccurate reading and should not be used if a
precise measurement is required.
■ Wipe underarm with a dry towel.
■ Place probe tip in armpit and bring arm down against the
body. The measuring sensor should be pointing upward
parallel to the arm.
■ The time required for an accurate underarm temperature may be 5 minutes or
longer depending on the placement of the probe and closure of the arm against
the body.

CHANGING THE BATTERY
When the “ ” appears and blinks, the battery needs to be replaced. Make sure
you use the same type of battery and proceed as follows: Remove battery compart
ment lid. Use a non metal probe to remove battery. Insert new equivalent battery
type (1.55V or LR41). Ensure battery is correctly positioned with the “+” facing up.
Carefully replace the battery compartment lid. Properly dispose of the battery, keep

ing it from small children and heat.
SWITCHING BETWEEN FAHRENHEIT & CELSIUS
1.
Press START button.
2. Wait until “L” symbol appears and °F (°C) starts flashing.
3. Press and hold START button until °F (°C) symbol flashes five times.
4. Release the START button. The thermometer is now changed to °C (°F).
5. The thermometer is now ready for measurement.
PRECAUTIONS
■ Do not drop unit or subject to shock.
■ Do not submerge the thermometer in any liquid.
■ Do not boil the probe. Clean the probe with isopropyl alcohol.
■ Do not use solvents or thinners on the unit.
■ Do not store the unit in direct sunlight or at high temperature.
■ Do not attempt to disassemble the unit except to replace the battery.
RECTAL USE
■ Commonly used for babies, young children or when it is difficult to take an oral
or underarm temperature.
■ After placing the probe cover on the thermometer, lubricate with a water-soluble
jelly such as K-Y Jelly
®
.
■ Gently insert the probe tip no more than 1/2 inch or 1.3 cm into the rectum. Do
not force the tip into the rectum if resistance is encountered.
■ Wash the thermometer as recommended.
■ Approximate measurement time is 10-15 seconds.
■ Once used rectally, the thermometer should not be used orally for sanitary reasons.
CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Wash the area extending about 2” from the tip with warm soapy water after each
use and dry thoroughly.
OR
Wipe the area extending about 2” from the tip with 70% isopropyl alcohol after
each use.
NOTE: Do not submerge the thermometer in any liquid.

is free from defects in material and workmanship for the lifetime of the original
owner. This warranty does not cover batteries or damage resulting from improper

CÓMO CUIDAR ESTE PRODUCTO
■ Se debe limpiar el termómetro después de cada uso aún cuando se utilice el dis-
positivo con las cubiertas puestas.
■ Limpie el dispositivo y la punta del termómetro utilizando alcohol isopropílico
o agua y jabón. No hierva el termómetro. No sumerja el termómetro en ningún
líquido.
■ Consérvelo en el estuche protector mientras no lo utiliza.
■ No lo guarde en un lugar expuesto a la luz solar directa o a altas temperaturas.
■ Sólo abra el termómetro para reemplazar la batería.
■ No deje caer el termómetro, ya que la unidad puede romperse.
■ No intente desarmar la unidad salvo para reemplazar la batería.
¿CUÁL ES LA TEMPERATURA “NORMAL”?
La temperatura varía según la persona. La temperatura normal es la temperatura
promedio de cada persona mientras se encuentra sano. La temperatura normal pro
medio varía entre los 97 °F/36.1 °C y los 100 °F/37.7 °C cuando se toma en forma
oral. La temperatura rectal se considera la temperatura real o “central” del cuerpo.
La temperatura rectal es 1 °F/0.5 °C más alta que la temperatura oral y la axilar es 1
°F/0.5 °C más baja que la oral.
CÓMO TOMAR LA TEMPERATURA
1.
Elija un lugar de medición, ya sea oral, axilar o rectal (ver las instrucciones siguientes).
2.
Presione con firmeza el botón de ENCENDIDO. El termómetro emitirá un sonido
y en la pantalla se mostrarán todos los símbolos. Esta es una función de control
que indica que la unidad está funcionando correctamente. Si se guardó un reg
istro anterior en la memoria, el termómetro mostrará, durante dos segundos, la
última temperatura registrada.
3. El símbolo °F o °C titilará cuando la unidad esté lista para medir la temperatura.
Comience la medición.
4. Cuando se alcanzó la temperatura pico, el símbolo °F o °C dejará de titilar, y el
termómetro emitirá ocho sonidos.
5. Lea y registre la temperatura y la hora a modo de referencia. El registro será
guardado automáticamente en la memoria hasta que se realice otra medición o se
saque la batería del termómetro.
6.
Presione el botón de ENCENDIDO para apagar la unidad. Si no apaga la unidad, el
dispositivo se apagará en forma automática luego de aproximadamente 9 minutos.
NOTA: Si la temperatura medida es superior a 99.5 °F (37.5 °C), la alarma de fiebre
emitirá sonidos rápidos durante cerca de cuatro segundos.
USO ORAL
■ No tome bebidas calientes o frías, no haga ejercicio ni
fume, ni realice otras actividades que puedan subir o bajar
la temperatura. La boca debe permanecer cerrada por lo
menos durante 5 minutos antes de intentar la medición.
■ Coloque el extremo del dispositivo debajo de la lengua en
los lugares indicados en el “
✔” (ver el diagrama). Enseñe a
los niños que no deben morder el dispositivo.
■ El tiempo de medición aproximado es de 15 a 25 segun-
dos. Abrir la boca o colocar de manera inadecuada el
extremo del dispositivo, puede demorar el resultado.
USO AXILAR (AUXILIAR)
■ Desde el punto de vista médico, este método siempre
dará un resultado inexacto y no se debe utilizar si se
requiere una medición precisa.
■ Limpie la axila con una toalla seca.
■ Ubique el extremo del dispositivo en la axila y baje el
brazo contra el cuerpo. El sensor de medición debe
apuntar hacia arriba paralelo al brazo.
■ El tiempo de medición aproximado para una medición axilar precisa puede ser
de 5 minutos o más dependiendo de la ubicación del dispositivo y del cierre del
brazo contra el cuerpo.

CÓMO CAMBIAR LA BATERÍA
Cuando aparezca titilando la señal de “ ”, será necesario cambiar la batería.
Asegúrese de utilizar el mismo tipo de batería y proceda de la siguiente manera:
Quite la tapa del compartimiento de la batería. Utilice un instrumento no metálico
para quitar la batería. Introduzca una nueva batería de tipo equivalente (1.55 V o
LR41). Asegúrese de que la batería esté ubicada correctamente con el signo “+” hacia
arriba. Reemplace cuidadosamente la tapa del compartimiento de la batería. Deseche
la batería en forma adecuada, manténgala lejos del alcance de los niños pequeños y
no la exponga al calor.
ÇAMBIO DE FAHRENHEIT A CELSIUS Y VICEVERSA
1.
Presione el botón de ENCENDIDO.
2. Espere hasta que aparezca el símbolo “L” y que °F (°C) comience a titilar.
3. Pulse y mantenga presionado el botón de ENCENDIDO hasta que el símbolo °F
(°C) titile cinco veces.
4. El termómetro habrá cambiado a °C (°F).
5. El termómetro está listo para la medición.
PRECAUCIONES
■ No deje caer la unidad ni la someta a golpes.
■ No sumerja el termómetro en ningún líquido.
■ No hierva el dispositivo. Limpie el dispositivo con alcohol isopropílico.
■ No utilice solventes o diluyentes sobre la unidad.

USO RECTAL
■ Normalmente se utiliza en bebés, niños pequeños o cuando fuera difícil tomar la
temperatura oral o axilar.
■ Después de colocar la cubierta en el termómetro, lubríquelo con una sustancia
gelatinosa soluble en agua tal como K-Y Jelly
®
.
■ Introduzca suavemente en el recto el extremo del dispositivo no más de 1/2
pulgada o 1.3 cm. No fuerce el extremo hacia el interior del recto si encontrara
resistencia.
■ Lave el termómetro tal como se recomienda.
■ El tiempo de medición aproximado es de 10 a 15 segundos.
■ Una vez que se haya utilizado el termómetro en forma rectal, no debe utilizarse
en forma oral por razones sanitarias.
INSTRUCCIONES DE LIMPIEZA
Después de cada uso, lave el área que se extiende a 2 pulg. del extremo con agua
jabonosa tibia y séquelo completamente.
O
Limpie el área que se extiende a 2 pulg. del extremo con 70% de alcohol
isopropílico después de cada uso.
NOTA: No sumerja el termómetro en ningún líquido.
