OVERVIEW

The Room Remote can be added to a Leviton® bitwise™ system utilizing iOS®/Android® Devices for control or can be used as the sole point of control. Each system needs at least one RF receiver and a compatible Leviton bitwise Controller (see Requirements for details). This document will guide you through connecting the required hardware. For programming, please refer to the Room Remote Programming Guide.
REQUIREMENTS Hardware
• Room Remote - BWRMT
• RF to Serial Receiver – BWRRR
• Compatible Leviton bitwise Controller - BWBC1,BWBC2, Gen 2 BWBC4 (Not compatible with Gen1 BWBC4)
Software
• Project Editor - v1.9.60 or later
• BWBC1 Firmware - v131115-0.1fw
• BWBC2 Firmware - v131115-0.1fw
• BWBC4 Firmware – v1.3.16
CONNECT THE RF RECEIVER TO THE CONTROLLER SERIAL PORT
Each RF Receiver is capable of supporting up to 255 RF Room Remotes. The RF Receiver connects via RS232 to a compatible Leviton bitwise Controller. In most cases, it will be easiest to use a serial port with terminal connectors rather than the DB-9. The remaining instructions assume you are using a serial port with terminal block connections.
ROOM REMOTE WIRE BITWISE CONTROLLER RS232 PORT
Black GND - Ground White RXD - Receive Red 4+12 VDC - Power
NOTE: If you need to extend the cable for the RF Receiver we recommend using 3 conductor shielded cable or 2 pairs of Cat5/6 network cable. If using Cat5/6, use the Orange pair for signal and ground and the Green pair for Power and ground. (Yes, connect ground to one conductor of each pair).
RF RECEIVER PLACEMENT
Try to place the RF Receiver in a central location close to where the remote(s) will be used, away from sources of RF noise and large amounts of metal (refrigerators, furnaces etc…). The antenna whip should be vertical in most cases but may be adjusted as necessary for optimal reception.
ADDRESS THE REMOTE(S)
1. Hold the “OK” and “B” buttons until the res status LED turns solid red (figure 1).
2. Enter a THREE digit address (001-255) using the numeric keys.
3. Press the “OK” key.
The LED will blink twice if the process was successful and 5 times if an invalid sequence was entered or the procedure timed out.
