General safety guidelines
Always observe the following precautions to reduce the risk of injury and property damage.
Service
Do not attempt to service any product yourself, unless instructed otherwise by the Customer Support Center. Allow only an authorized service provider to carry out repairs.
Extension cords and related devices
Ensure that any extension cords, surge protectors, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and power strips are rated to handle the electrical requirements of the product. Never overload these devices. If power strips are used, the load should not exceed the power strip rating. If you have questions about power loads, power requirements or input ratings, consult a qualified electrician.

Plugs and outlets
If a receptacle (power outlet) that you intend to use with your computer equipment appears to be damaged or corroded, do not use the outlet until it has been replaced by a qualified electrician.
Do not bend or modify any plug. If a plug is damaged, contact the relevant manufacturer to obtain a replacement.
Some products are equipped with a three-pronged plug. This kind of plug fits only into a grounded electrical outlet. This is a safety feature. Do not defeat this safety feature by trying to insert the plug into a non-grounded outlet. If you cannot insert the plug into an outlet, contact a qualified electrician for details on obtaining an approved outlet adapter, or to have the outlet replaced with one that enables this safety feature. Never overload an electrical outlet. The overall system load should not exceed 80 percent of the branch circuit rating. If you have any questions about power loads or branch circuit ratings, consult a qualified electrician.
Be sure that the power outlet you are using is properly wired, easily accessible and located close to the equipment. Do not fully extend power cords in a way that will stress the cords.
Connect and disconnect equipment from electrical outlets carefully.
Heat and product ventilation
Computers, AC power adapters and various accessories generate heat during use, as do batteries while being charged. Always follow the basic precautions below:
• Do not leave a computer, AC power adapter or accessory in contact with the body for extended periods of use, or while the battery is charging. Computers, AC power adapters and accessories generate heat during normal operation; contact with the body for extended periods can cause discomfort or, potentially, a skin burn.
• Do not charge a battery or operate your computer, AC power adapter or accessories near flammable materials or in explosive environments.
• This product includes ventilation slots, fans and heat sinks for safe and reliable operation. These safety features may be compromised if the product is placed on a bed, sofa, carpet or other soft surface. Never block, cover or disable these safety features.
