asmartcardreaderandtheThinkVantage

®

USBSmartcardKeyboard(hereaftercalledthekeyboard)isafull-sizedkeyboardequippedwith

buttontoenhanceyourcomputingsecurityandconvenience.

Thekeyboardenablesauthorizedusers’singlelogintothecomputerandpreventsunauthorizedaccess
tothenetworkofanorganization.Typically,theuser-accessverificationofthekeyboardsecuresthe
environmentfortransactionsperformedonbothpublicandprivatenetworks.TheThinkVantagebuttonon
thekeyboardprovidesquickaccesstosomeoftheprogramsinstalledonyourcomputerortheWindows
SystemInformationwindow.

2NumericLockLED

WhentheLEDison,thenumerickeypadonthekeyboardisenabled.WhentheLEDisoff,thecursor
controlonthenumerickeypadisenabled.PresstheNumericLockkeytoswitchbackandforthbetween
thesetwomodes.

3CapsLockLED

WhentheLEDison,theCapsLockmodeisenabled.Inthismode,youcantypeallalphabeticcharacters
(A-Z)inuppercasetextdirectly.WhentheLEDisoff,theCapsLockmodeisdisabled.Toenableordisable
theCapsLockmode,presstheCapsLockkey.

4ScrollLockLED

WhentheLEDison,theScrollLockmodeisenabled.Thearrowkeyscanbeusedasscreen-scrollfunction
keysandthecursorcannotbemovedwiththearrowkeys.Thefunctionisonlyavailableforcertain
applicationprograms.WhentheScrollLockLEDisoff,thearrowkeyscanbeusedforcursorcontrol,notas
screen-scrollfunctionkeys.PresstheScrollLockkeytoswitchbackandforthbetweenthesetwomodes.

5SmartcardstatusLED

ThesmartcardstatusLEDisadual-colorLED,whichindicatestheworkingstatusofthesmartcardreader
ingreenandamber.

6Smartcardreader

Thesmartcardreaderisacompact,lightweight,high-performancedevicethatenhancescomputerand
networksecurity.Itsupportsmostmemorymodulesandmicroprocessorcards.

Thesmartcardreadersupportsthefollowing:

•Readingfromandwritingtoallmemoryandmicroprocessorsmartcards(T=0,T=1)thatconformto
InternationalOrganizationforStandardization(ISO)7816-1,2,3,4standards

Tiltfeet

Therearethreetiltfeetpositionsforsettingthekeyboardtoacomfortabledegree.Youcanplacethe
keyboardatanangleoffourdegrees,sixdegrees,orninedegreesatyourpreference.

Thischapterprovidesinformationaboutinstallingthekeyboardandusingthesmartcardreader.

Installingthedevicedrivers

Beforeinstallingthekeyboard,youmustinstallthehotkeydriverandthesmart-card-readerdriver.
Otherwise,youcannotusesomefunctionsofthekeyboard.Forexample,ifyouareusingaWindows
XPoperatingsystem,youmustinstallthesmart-card-readerdrivertousethesmartcardreaderofthe
keyboard;ifyouareusingaWindows7,Windows8,orWindows8.1operatingsystem,youmustinstallthe
smart-card-readerdrivertousesomespecificfunctionslikethesecurePINentry.

Note:Ifthehotkeydriverandthesmart-card-readerdriverarealreadyinstalledonyourcomputer,
uninstallthedriversbeforeyouinstallthenewones.See“Uninstallingthedevicedrivers”onpage6
moreinformation.

Toinstallthedevicedrivers,dothefollowing:

2.Locateanddownloadtheinstallationfiles.

3.Double-clickeachinstallationfile,andthenfollowtheinstructionsonthescreentocompletethe
installation.

Touninstallthehotkeydriverandthesmart-card-readerdriver,dothefollowing:

Panel.

2.DependingonyourControlPanelmode,clickordouble-clickAddorRemovePrograms.

3.SelectLenovoUSBSmartcardKeyboardHotkeyDriver,andthenclickRemove.

4.Followtheinstructionsonthescreentouninstallthehotkeydriver.

5.IntheAddorRemoveProgramswindow,selectLenovoKeyboardSmartcardReader,andthen
clickRemove.

6.Followtheinstructionsonthescreentouninstallthesmart-card-readerdriver.

7.Restartyourcomputer.

FortheWindows7operatingsystem:

1.DependingonyourStartmenumode,clickStart➙ControlPanelorStart➙Settings➙Control

contactpadfacingup.ThesmartcardstatusLEDwillbeoningreenforawhile.Thenthesmartcard
readerisreadyforuse.

keyboard.

Solution:Ensurethatthehotkeydriverandthesmart-card-readerdriverareinstalledcorrectly.Then,check
