WEATHERPROOF WHILE-IN-USE COVER

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

WHILE-IN-USE COVER DESCRIPTION

This product is a weatherproof cover that is intended to enclose an
electrical device (outlet, GFCI, switch, etc.) and protect the device
from inclement weather even when a plug and cord are inserted in it.
It is designed to install quickly and easily (see instructions below) and
provide an attractive, durable finish that will yield long-lasting results.

APPLICATION

The cover should be installed in areas subject to saturation from water
or other liquids, (see description for “Wet Location” and “Damp
Location” in the National Electrical Code). The cover can be mounted
horizontally or vertically, as long as the hinge is in the top corner. See
Figure 1 (A-D) for applicable mounting and attachment options. The
cover includes multiple plates, so it can be used to cover different
types of electrical devices.

WARNING - Turn off all power to circuit before installing this
device. Improper wiring of any electrical device can cause seri­ous injury or death. These wiring devices should only be
installed by an Electrician or other qualified person.

CAUTION - This cover should be installed in accordance with the
National Electrical Code,and allapplicable local codes and standards.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: The cover should be installed on a smooth, flat, non-porous

surface. To install on an irregular surface, use a proper amount of
caulking to ensure a watertight seal between the back of the cover
and the mounting surface.

1. Disconnect power to circuit by removing fuse or turn circuit breakers
to OFF before installing.

2. Remove the existing receptacle cover, if any, and discard.

3. Back off the mounting screws that hold the GFI or receptacle to
the junction box but do not remove screws.

4. Insert mounting screws through the keyhole shaped mounting holes
on assembly and slide the assembly to the left (see Figure 2).
Center the device in the box. Tighten screws.

5. If mounting to an FS or outdoor junction box use the four screws
provided to further secure the assembly to the box.

6. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN SCREWS.

7. Choose appropriate wall plate and snap in by putting one long
edge in place first and rotating the plate over the device. (If device
is in the way, loosen screws and move left or right.) Discard
other plate(s).

8. For best rain protection, be sure to route cords through the cord
outlet and press the cover firmly until it snaps closed. Position
cord gaskets as shown in Figure 3.

LIMITED ONE YEAR WARRANTY

Pass & Seymour will remedy any defect in workmanship or material in Pass & Seymour products which
may develop under proper and normal use within one year from date of purchase by a consumer:

(1) by repair or replacement, or, at Pass & Seymour's option, (2) by return of an amount equal to
consumer's purchase price. Such remedy is IN LIEU OF ANY AND ALL EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED
WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. Such
remedy by Pass & Seymour does not include or cover cost of labor for removal or reinstallation of the
product. ALL OTHER FURTHER ELEMENTS OF DAMAGE (INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL
DAMAGES) FOR BREACH OF ANY AND A LL EXPR ES SE D O R I MP LI ED WARR AN TI ES
INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF M ER CH AN TA BI LI TY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR

To insure safety, all repairs to Pass & Seymour products must be made by Pass & Seymour, or under
its specific direction. Procedure to obtain performance of any warranty obligation is as follows:
(1) Contact Pass & Seymour, Syracuse, New York 13221, for instructions concerning return or repair;
(2) return the product to Pass & Seymour, postage paid, with your name and address and a written
description of the installation or use of the Pass & Seymour product, and the observed defects or
failure to operate, or other claimed basis for dissatisfaction.

DESCRIPCIÓN DE TAPA DURANTE SU USO

Este producto es una tapa a prueba del tiempo que está diseñada

ara encerrar un dispositivo eléctrico (enchufe, GFCI, interruptor, etc.)

y proteger el dispositivo del mal tiempo inclusive cuando un enchufe y
cable e stán conectados a el. E stá diseñado para inst a l a r s e
rápidamente y fácilmente (véase las instrucciones abajo) y proveer
una terminación atractiva y duradera que rinde buenos resultados.

APLICACIÓN

La tapa debe ser instalada en áreas sujetas a saturación por agua u
otros lÌquidos, (véase la descripción para “Localización Mojada” y
“Localización Húmeda” en el Código Nacional Eléctrico. La tapa puede
ser montada horizontalmente o verticalmente, mientras la bisagra está
en la esquina de arriba. Véase la Figura 1 (A-D) para opciones aplica­bles de montaje y enganche. La tapa incluye chapas múltiples para
que se pueda utilizar para cubrir aparatos eléctricos diferentes.

ADVERTENCIA - Apáguele la corriente al circuito antes de instalar
este aparato. Alambrado impropio de cualquier aparato eléctrico puede
causar serios daños o muerte. Estos aparatos eléctricos solamente
deben ser instalados por un electricista u otrapersonacalificada.

CUIDADO - Esta tapa debe ser instalada de acuerdo con el
Cúdigo Eléctrico Nacional y todos los cúdigos locales aplicables.

INSTRUCCIONES DE INSTALACIÓN
NOTA: La tapa debe ser instalada en una superficie lisa, plana y no

porosa. Para instalar en una superficie irregular, utilice suficiente
sellante para asegurar un sello a prueba de agua entre la parte de
atrás y la superficie de montaje.

1. Desconéctele la corriente al circ uito quitando el fusible o
APAGANDO el disyuntor antes de instalar.

2. Quite la tapa del enchufe, si hay, y descarte.

3. Afloje los tornillos que aguantan el GFI o enchufe a la caja de
pared, pero no quite los tornillos.

4. Introduzca los tornillos de montaje a través de los huecos de mon­taje tipo bocallave en el ensamblaje y deslice el
ensamblaje hacia la izquierda (véase la Figura 2). Centre el
aparato en la caja. Apriete los tornillos.

5. Si monta en una caja de distribución de afuera o un FS, utilice los
cuatro tornillos proveÌdos para asegurar mejor el
ensamblaje a la caja.

6. NO REQUINTE LOS TORNILLOS

7. Escoja la tapa de pared apropiada y presione primero poniendo el
lado y después rotando la chapa por encima del aparato. (Si el
aparato está en el camino, afloje los tornillos y mueva hacia la
derecha o izquierda). Descarte la(s) otra(s) chapa(s).

8. Para la mejor protección ante la lluvia, asegúrese que ponga los
cables a través de la salida del cable y apriete bien la tapa hasta
que se tranque. Ponga las juntas del cable como se muestra en la
Figura 3.

GARANTÍA LIMITADA DE UN ANO:
