external wall mounting on provided brackets. These speakers
(P/N MS3523-WH for white and P/N MS3523-BK for black) see
Figure 1), are sold in pairs and are optimized for outdoor audio
distribution (central sound). They feature 5.25” Poly woofers and
PEI (Polyetherimide) Mylar tweeters. The provided brackets
allow the speakers to be adjusted for sound direction.
Disclaimer: Make sure you are in compliance with local
building codes before installing these speakers. These OnQ
evōQ™ 3000 Speakers are designed for outdoor
applications and are also suitable for other moisture rich

3. INSTALLATION
NOTE: It is recommended that a minimum of 16 gauge, 2 conductor wire be used
for most applications from the amplifier or volume control to the speaker. Different
gauges can, and should, be used based upon the distance of the intended run or
quality of installation (see Figure 2)
NOTE: The On-Q/Legrand lyriQ™ Audio components all accommodate wire
gauges from 18 to 14.
A. For pre-wire, run x/2 conductor (x=gauge) stranded speaker wire from the distribution/volume
B. Drill a hole large enough to accommodate the speaker wire
C. Place the speaker wire through the hole in the center of the

least a foot of wire outside, and seal the hole with caulk.

D. Strip off 3 inches or so of the speaker cable jacket to expose
the positive and negative insulated wires. Strip 3/8-1/2 inch
of insulation off of these conductors.
NOTE: It is a good practice to coat the wire with a corosion
preventing gell. This will prevent oxidation and limit whicking
ofmoisture through the cable.
E. Hold the speaker with one hand, (if speaker grill is off, pay
careful attention not
cause permanent contortion of the voice coil, thus producing
a mechanical rubbing sound or speaker failure) unscrew the
Red and Black screw terminals, insert the bare speaker
wires through the hole in each post, and tighten each screw
terminal. Be sure to have the positive wire in the RED
terminal and the negative in the BLACK (see Figure 4). As
you tighten each screw terminal wiggle the wire and
tighten some more.
NOTE: Wiring both speakers identically as the above
instruction states will yield speakers that are “in phase”. If one
speaker is wired opposite of the other, the speakers will be “out
of phase” with one another. If the speakers are “out of phase”
the sound might appear smeared (canned) and a significant
loss of bass might be noticeable due to phase cancellation.
Make sure every installed speaker is correctly phased.
F. Once the speakers are wired correctly, attach them to the
bracket with the large round retainers provided with the
speakers (see Figure 5). The retainers allow the speakers to
be rotated in the bracket to direct the sound output.
