properly.
If some point about the operation of this instrument is still unclear after you have read this
instruction manual, refer to the contact information on the back cover of the manual to contact
LEADER, or contact your local LEADER agent.
After you have finished reading this manual, keep it in a convenient place so that you can refer

This add-in software's features are only enabled after you enter a correct license key into the
LG 3810 and the licence key is authenticated. For details on installing the software, see the
LG 3810 instruction manual.
You can only use the license key for this add-in software on one LG 3810. You cannot install
this software on multiple LG 3810s.
The act of pressing and holding an LG 3810 panel key (operation button) for one second or
longer is referred to as “press and hold.”
In function key explanations, items enclosed in [] are options, and underlined items are
factory default settings.

2. SPECIFICATIONS
2.1 General
This add-in software adds CATV (DVB-C/J.83A, J.83B, and J.83C) modulation functionality to
the LG 3810.
2.2 Features
This software enables the LG 3810 to modulate signals as outlined in the DVB-C/J.83A,
J.83B, and J.83C standards.
2.3 Specifications
2.3.1 Transmission Encoder
Broadcast System
Cable Television Broadcast DVB-C/J.83A (DVB EN300429/ITU-T J.83 Annex A)
For details on the STATUS, NOISE, LEVEL, BER, UTILITY, and SYSTEM settings, see the LG
3810 instruction manual.
3.1 SOURCE
For details on the TS FILE settings when Source is set to Internal, see the LG 3810
instruction manual.
Press SOURCE under MENU to display the SOURCE screen.
3. DETAILED SETTINGS

● Explanation of function keys
• F1 Pattern
Press to select the video pattern, screen size, and audio pattern from those that are
stored in the LG 3810.
See section 3.1.1, “Selecting the Fixed Pattern.”
• F3 Source
Select the TS input that you want to use.
Fixed Pattern Videos and audio that are stored in the LG 3810 are modulated
and generated (factory default).
PN PN23 or PN15 random signals are used.
External <Input:SPI> The TS that is applied to the rear panel SPI input connector is
used.
External <Input:ASI> The TS that is applied to the rear panel ASI input connector is
used.
Internal A TS from the internal HDD or an external USB device is used.
4
Page 7
Notes regarding switching the source
• When the TS input is switched (between each fixed pattern, PN, SPI, ASI, and
Internal), the receiver lock is released momentarily to reset the encoding circuit.
• The LG 3810 cannot receive data if an external TS (SPI or ASI) is selected and the
TS IN alarm is lit on the top screen or a TS that exceeds the allowable rate for
encoding is applied.
3.1.1 Selecting the Fixed Pattern
On the SOURCE screen, set Source to Fixed Pattern, and then press F1 Pattern to select
the video pattern, screen size, and audio pattern.
You can specify any combination that you want for the pattern, screen size, and audio. The
monoscope becomes different specific patterns depending on the screen size. If you have
set Standard to J.83C on the CODING screen, you cannot specify a monoscope pattern
with a screen size of 1440×1080i.
The TS signals of the patterns that are stored in the LG 3810 support the standards that
you can specify on the CODING screen. Depending on the value that you have specified
for Standard, the number of selectable screen sizes changes.
See section 3.2.1, “STANDARD.”

3. DETAILED SETTINGS
• F2 Null Packet Filter
This setting is only available when you select an external TS (SPI or ASI) or the
Internal TS (MPEG-TS format). When turned ON, the Null Packet Filter filters packets
that contain the 0x1FFF PID from the TS that is applied to the LG 3810 input connector.
Removing unnecessary null packets provides you with an increased number of carrier
modulation choices. This feature is not available for broadcast transport streams.
[ Off / On
]
• F3 PCR Update
Converts the external TS to a broadcast TS for broadcast encoding. During this
conversion, because the LG 3810 carries out operations such as rearranging the
packet order and inserting invalid packets, the PCRs must be overwritten. Therefore,
normally turn this setting ON. For each external TS, the LG 3810 can overwrite up to 8
types of PCRs. This feature is not available for broadcast transport streams.
[ Off / On
]
Notes regarding configuring TS settings
• You can only configure these settings when the TS input is SPI, ASI, or Internal.
However, if you have selected Internal, you can only configure these settings when
Format on the TS FILE screen is set to MPEG-TS.
• If you have specified Internal for the TS input, the LG 3810 will not display this screen
when a TS file is being played back.

* If the LG 3810 receives a “TS” command instructing it to set the transport stream while a TS is
being played back from the internal HDD or an external USB device, the TS that is playing will
be stopped.

3.5 Sample TS
The LG 3810 comes with a USB memory device that contains original sample transport s
treams for checking the LG 3810's operations.
3.5.1 Notes
These transport streams have been created by LEADER to check the LG 3810's
operations. They are not designed to be used for evaluating decoders or as a reference for
evaluating videos, image quality, audio, or audio quality.
While the operation of these transport streams has been confirmed on representative
receivers that are commercially available, this does not guarantee that they will operate on
all receivers.
Please note that the data that is stored on the USB memory device can be deleted easily.
About the sample transport streams
• LEADER ELECTRONICS CORP. holds all copyrights to the videos contained in these
streams.
• You are not permitted to:
• Copy, process, or edit these streams without LEADER's permission.
• Decode these streams into PESs or elementary streams.
• Broadcast these streams or make them public for commercial purposes.
• Broadcast these streams or make them available to the general public.
