Safety Precautions
Before using X-431 V+, please read the following safety information carefully.
Never collide, throw, or punch X-431 V+, and avoid falling, extruding and
blending it.
Do not use X-431 V+ in exceptionally cold or hot, dusty, damp or dry
environments.
In places where X-431 V+ is forbidden or using X-431 V+ may cause
interference or generate a potential risk, please turn off it.
To ensure a safe driving, please do not use X-431 V+ while driving.  Turn off X-431 V+ before boarding any airplane.  Do not dismantle X-431 V+ by yourself. If there is any inquiry, please
contact the dealer.
Never place X-431 V+ into apparatus with strong electromagnetic field.  Keep X-431 V+ far away from magnetic devices because its radiations may
erase the data stored on the devices.
Store X-431 V+ out of reach of children and do not allow children to use it
unsupervised.
Please use the included battery and charger. Otherwise, explosion may
happen.
Do not disconnect power abruptly when X-431 V+ is being formatted or in
process of uploading or downloading. Or else it may result in program error.
Precautions on Using X-431 V+
z The ignition switch should be OFF while plugging or unplugging the
DBScar diagnostic connector.
z When DBScar connector is not used, remember to place it into the
diagnostic connector housing located at the back of the protection sleeve to avoid loss.
z If your vehicle keeps unattended for a week or a long period, it is
suggested to unplug the connector from vehicle’s DLC to save battery power.
z While diagnosing a vehicle, you are not advised to use phone or
messaging, because it may cause a data communication interruption. If it happens, it is abnormal and just try to re-do it.
Precautions on Operating Vehicle’s ECU
z Do not disconnect the vehicle inner consumer when the ignition switch is

on. High voltage transients may encounter at the moment of disconnecting, which may damage the sensors and the ECU.
z Protect the computer from magnetic object. z Do cut off the power supply of ECU system before welding on the vehicle. z Pay more attention to the ECU and the sensors when the operation is next
to them.
z Ground yourself when you disassemble PROM, otherwise ECU and
sensors will be damaged by static electricity.
z Do connect ECU harness connector firmly, otherwise electronic elements,
such as IC inside ECU, will be damaged.

1 Introduction
1.1 Product Profile
X-431 V+ is a new Android-based vehicle trouble diagnostic device devel oped for internet applications. It inherits from LAUNCH’s advanced diagnosing technology and is characterized by covering a wide range of vehicles, featuring powerful functions, and providing precise test result.
Through the Bluetooth communication between vehicle diagnostic connector and variant mobile intelligent terminals, it achieves X431 series full car model and full system vehicle trouble diagnosis, which include Reading DTCs, Clearing DTCs, Reading Data stream, Actuation Test and Special Functions.
Meanwhile, taking advantage of mobile internet, it integrates more application and service, such as Customer Management, Maintenance Database, One Key Upgrade, Circle etc.
X-431 V+ adopts a higher performance-price ratio tablet computer, which is equipped with Android 4.0 operating system, 1.2GHz four-core CPU and 10.1” HD IPS screen display.
1.2 Features
1. Diagnose: Can diagnose the electronic control system of prevailing vehicle
models covering Asian, European, American and Chinese. Diagnosis functions include: Read DTCs, Clear DTCs, Read datastream, Special functions etc;
Specially designed for Android platform with clear and user-friendly
interface;
Via Bluetooth, it is simple for DBScar diagnostic connector to
communicate with X-431 V+;
Equipped with an exclusive X-431 V+ protection sleeve to prevent it
from being damaged;
2. Browser: built-in Wi-Fi module makes surfing on the internet freely;
3. Email: allows you to send and receive email. External POP3 or IMAP email
account for some common Web email service provider can be added;
4. Search: enables you to locate your target quickly and conveniently;
5. File Manager: with it, you can manage the files or downloaded files stored

in SD card efficiently;
6. Settings: to configure your personalized X-431 V+ through it;
7. Other additional functions: alarm, calendar and calculator etc.
8. Applications: Other android based applications can be customized to install

1.3 Knowledge of X-431 V+
1.3.1 X-431 V+ Whole Set
X-431 V+ is composed of an X-431 V+ Tablet PC, a protection sleeve and a diagnostic connector (in red & black).

1.3.3 X-431 V+ protection sleeve
Dismantling X-431 V+ protection sleeve
To remove protection sleeve from X-431 V+ main unit, follow the steps described as below to proceed:
1. Pull the black sleeve outwards from the right margin of X-431 V+, and then remove it completely.
2. Reverse the upper enclosure and then use the screwdriver to loosen all screws.
3. Take out the lower enclosure from the upper enclosure.
4. Finally remove X-431 V+ Tablet PC from the upper enclosure.
Note: Reverse the above-mentioned steps to install X-431 V+ protection sleeve. While mounting it, please pay more attention to the installation d irection.

OBD-16 diagnostic connector
To connect to vehicle’s OBD2 DLC.
Power indicator It lights up while plugging the
DBScar connector into the vehicle’s DLC.
Communication indicator
It will flash once the DBScar connector is communicating with X-431 V+ or it is being reset.
Micro USB port To connect to PC for data
transmission or upgrade via USB cable.
This diagnostic connector works only with X-431 V+. If it keeps unattended, please place it in right position.
1.3.5 GOLO diagnostic connector (applied for personal car owners)

The GOLO diagnostic connector shown in Fig. 1-7 provides same indicators and ports as the DBScar diagnostic connector (in red & black). Please refer to Chapter 1.3.4.
However it is designed for personal car owners and mainly applied with smart phone based on Android OS (Before using this connector, users need to download and install the diagnostic software firstly. For detailed operations, please refer to “User’s Manual” included with it.). It can not be used with X-431 V+ together.
Since X-431 V+ features Customer Management, it is very helpful for repair shops to maintain friendly relationship with customers and manage customer’s data. In view of it, repair shops may recommend this powerful connector to customers.

2 Preparations
2.1 Charging X-431 V+
1. Insert the included USB cable into the charger.
2. Plug the charger into AC outlet.
3. Connect the other end of USB cable to X-431 V+. If
appears on the
screen, it indicates it is being charged.
4. If the logo changes into
, it indicates that the battery is fully charged.
Disconnect the charger from the AC outlet.
5. Unplug the USB cable on the charger from X-431 V+.
2.2 On using your battery
If the battery keeps unused for a long time or battery is completely
discharged, it is normal in case it can not be turned on while being charged. Please charge it for a period and then turn it on.
To prolong the service life of the battery, avoid charging too frequently.  The charging time of battery varies with temperature condition and battery
consumption status.
While X-431 V+ has low battery, a beep will sound. If it is very low, X-431
V+ will be switched off automatically.
2.3 Power on / power off X-431 V+
2.3.1 Power on
Press the POWER key until it is slightly vibrated to turn on X-431 V+.
Note: if it is the first time you use your X-431 V+ or X-431 V+ keeps idle for a
long time, X-431 V+ could fail to be turned on. It results from low battery. In this case, please charge your X-431 V+ for a while and try to turn it on.
2.3.2 Power off
1. Press the POWER key, an option menu will pop up on the screen.
2. Tap “Power off” to turn off X-431 V+.

2.4 Tips on finger operations
Single-tap: To select a item or launch a program.
Double-tap: To zoom in so that the text on a webpage appears in a
column that fits your device’s screen.
Long press: Press and hold on the current interface or area until a contextual menu pops up on the screen, and then release it
Slide: To jump to different pages.
Drag: Tap the desktop icon and drop it to other location.
Spread apart / Pinch together: To zoom in manually, place two
fingers on the screen and then spread them apart. To zoom out, place two fingers apart on the screen and then pinch them together.
2.5 Lock & unlock the screen
Many screen lock modes are available on X-431 V+. Take the preset screen-lock mode as example for demonstration.
2.5.1 Lock the screen
When X-431 V+ is ON, press POWER key once to lock the screen;  The system will lock the screen automatically after X-431 V+ remains i dle
over the preset standby time.
2.5.2 Unlock the screen
Press POWER key to activate the screen, and then drag the lock to “Unlock” position.
Note: if you define as unlock using the pattern, you have to draw the right

target pattern to unlock it.
2.6 Screen Layout
On-screen keys and status bar are as follows:

to view the recently launched applications and running

strength, battery status and other information. Tap the digital clock to open the notice panel.

2.8 Notice bar
The notice bar is used to display some activities, such as new message, to do list and running tasks. You can also open the notice bar to view the reminder or activity notification.
2.9 Customize your desktop
2.9.1 Move items on the desktop
1. Hold and press the item to be moved until it is shaken.
2. Drag and drop it to the target location.
Note: Drag the icon to the margin of the screen and keep it still, the system

will switch to other extension de skt op, place it to the desired location.
2.9.2 Create a widget on the desktop
1. Tap on the upper top corner.
2. Tap a widget, keep it pressed and then drag it to the desired desktop window.
2.9.3 Delete items from the desktop
1. Hold and press the item to be moved until it is shaken.
2. Drag it on the trash icon, then release it.
Warning: Deleting an icon will uninstall the corresponding application.
Please be careful to do so.
2.9.4 Change your wallpaper
1. Hold and press a blank area on the desktop, a pop-up wallpaper window will be shown on the screen.
2. Set different wallpaper as desired:
• Wallpapers: Choose a still picture from gallery as wallpaper.
• Live Wallpapers: Open it to choose one of the preset live wallpapers as wallpaper.
• Gallery: Set the pictures you captured as wallpaper.
2.9.5 Adjust brightness
X-431 V+ is equipped with a built-in light intensity sensor. It can adjust the screen brightness according to the ambient light intensity automatically. Alternatively, you can also adjust it manually.
Tips: Reducing the brightness of the screen is helpful to save the power of
X-431 V+.
1. On the main menu screen, tap
> All > Display > Brightness.
2. Choose one of the followings to adjust it: > Automatic brightness: check the box before “Automatic brightness”. > Manual adjustment: Deselect the “Automatic brightness”, and then drag
the slider to adjust it.
2.9.6 Set standby time
If no activities are made within the defined standby period, the screen will be locked automatically and the system enters sleep mode to save power.
