Disposal of transport packaging
The packaging protects the appliance from becoming damaged during transport. Packaging materials have been chosen with environmental protection and disposal aspects in mind and are therefore recyclable.
Returning packaging material to the materials cycle cuts down on raw materials and reduces the volume of waste. Your retailer will take the packaging back.
Disposal of your old appliance
The material from which old appliances are made is frequently re-usable, so please return your old appliance to the materials cycle, either through your retailer or by means of a public collection system.
Please ensure that your old appliance is stored out of the reach of children prior to being taken away. Respective information can be obtained in the instruction manual under the section on safety instructions and warnings”.

Authorised utilisation of the cooker hood
The appliance is intended for
household use. The manufacturer is not liable for any damage resulting from utilisation other than that authorised or from any incorrect operation of the appliance.
Technical safety
Prior to connecting the cooker hood,
it is essential that the connection data (voltage and frequency) on the identification plate be compared with the current network data (see the section on electrical connection). These figures must tally in order to avoid damage to the appliance. In case of doubt, please contact your electrician.
The electrical safety of the cooker
hood can only be guaranteed if it is connected to a protective conductor system which has been installed in accordance with regulations. It is absolutely essential that this fundamental safety prerequisite has been fulfilled. In case of doubt, have your home wiring system checked by an expert. The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for damage caused because there was no protective conductor or because of a disconnected conductor (e.g. an electric shock).
Installation, maintenance or repair
work carried out improperly may put the user at considerable risk. Please have installation and maintenance work as well as repairs to electrical appliances carried out by skilled specialists only.
Should the connecting cable of the
cooker hood be damaged, it is essential that it be replaced by the same type of connecting cable, available through customer service.
This appliance has been constructed in accordance with specified safety regulations; improper utilisation, however, can result in injury to persons and damage to property.
Please read the instructions for use carefully prior to initial use of your appliance. They provide important information on safety, assembly, use and maintenance, so you will protect yourself and avoid damage to your appliance.
Keep the instructions for use in a safe place and pass them on to any subsequent owner of the appliance.
Safety instructions and warnings

Installation and mounting of this ap-
pliance in non-stationary locations (such as on ships) may only be carried out by specialised businesses or by trained specialists who ensure that conditions for safe utilisation of the appliance are fulfilled.
The cooker hood is only disconnect-
ed from the electrical power supply when one of the following conditions has been fulfilled:
– The connection cable to the mains
has been disconnected from the power supply. Do not pull on the connection cable to the mains in order to disconnect the appliance from the power supply. Pull out the power supply plug.
– The safety fuse of the home wiring
system has been switched off.
– The screw-locking device of the home
wiring system has been completely screwed out.
The appliance may not be connect-
ed to the power supply by means of an extension cable. Extension cables do not guarantee the required standard of safety for the appliance (e.g. risk of overheating).
Use
Never work with an open flame un-
der the cooker hood. Thus flambeing and grilling on an open flame are forbidden. The activated cooker hood will draw the flames into the filter. Cooking fat which has been absorbed results in a risk of fire.
On using a cooker hood over gas
cooking hobs it is essential that cooking zones in operation be covered by pots or pans. The cooker hood may be damaged by the heat effect of the flames.
Always switch on the cooker hood
when a cooking zone is being used. Condensation water may collect if the cooker hood is not switched on and this may corrode the hood.
On cooking with cooking oils and
fats, pay attention to pots, pans and deep fryers. Grilling with electrical grilling appliances must also be constantly supervised. Overheated oils and fats may ignite spontaneously and set the cooker hood on fire.
Never use the cooker hood without
a grease filter, since this filter prevents deposits of grease and dirt in the appliance, which would impair its operation.
Ensure that the filters are regularly
cleaned or replaced. Filters which become oversaturated with grease always mean a risk of fire (see the section Cleaning and Maintenance”)
Never use a steam cleaner to clean
the cooker hood. The steam could contact live parts of the hood and cause a short circuit.

35
Installation
For safety reasons the following
minimum clearances must be observed between the cooker and the hood:
45 cm above an electric cooking zone,65 cm above a gas cooking zone,65 cm above an electric grill from our
range
For other cooking appliances, safety clearances indicated in the respective assembly and instruction manuals are to be observed. If various cooking appliances, for which diverse safety clearances apply, are in operation under the cooker hood, the largest safety clearance indicated applies.
The hood may not be installed
above heating devices which use solid fuels.
Only pipes and hoses made of non-
combustible material may be used for installing the exhaust air duct. These pipes and hoses are available at specialised stores or through customer service.
The exhaust air may not be fed into
flue-gas or exhaust gas chimneys which are in operation, nor may it be fed into shafts which serve to ventilate rooms installed with furnaces.
Public regulations are to be
observed if the exhaust air is fed into a flue-gas or exhaust gas chimney which is not in operation.
Safety instructions and warnings
36
Care must be taken when a cooker
hood is operated simultaneously with heating devices whose operation depends on the room air (such as gas, oil or coal heaters, multi-point heaters, hot water boilers, gas hobs and gas ovens), since air which is required by the heating device is removed from the installation room and from adjacent rooms when the cooker hood sucks in air. In addition, the suction force of the cooker hood may result in back currents of exhaust gas from the flue or from the exhaust shaft; furnaces linked to chimneys will be impaired.
Safe operation is possible if, on simultaneous operation of a cooker hood and a heating device whose operation depends on room air, a reduced pressure of a maximum 4Pa (0.04 mbar) is achieved, thus avoiding a return feed of exhaust gases from the heating device. This can be achieved if air required for combustion can be replaced by means of air flowing through non-closable openings, such as those in doors and in windows, or by means of air flowing through inlet air and exhaust air built-in wall-box frames or by means of other technical measures, such as two-way interlocking systems or similar measures.
Please note: on making an assessment, the composite action of the ventilation system in the home must be taken into consideration. Should you be in any doubt, please contact the professional chimney sweep in your area.
It is always possible to use the cooker hood in the recirculation mode.
Disposal of old appliances
Pull the mains plug out of the socket
in the case of appliances no longer in use, and render the connection lead to the mains and the plug unservicable. This will prevent any unauthorised utilisation of the cooker hood.
The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for damage resulting from non-observance of the safety instructions and warnings.
