Data Services General Information

The following topics will help you learn the basics of using your data services, including managing your user name and understanding the data connection indicators.

Your User Name

When you buy your phone and sign up for service, you’re automatically assigned a user name, which is typically based on your name and a number, followed by “@sprintpcs.com.” (For
example, the third John Smith to sign up for Sprint data services might have jsmith003@sprintpcs.com as his user name.)
When you use data services, your user name is submitted to identify you to the network. Your user name is automatically programmed into your phone. You don’t have to enter it.

In either state, you can receive incoming calls.
Your phone is outside of the Sprint data network service area.

A TTY (teletypewriter, also known as a TDD or Text Telephone) is a telecommunications device that allows people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or who have speech or language disabilities, to communicate by telephone.
Your phone is compatible with select TTY devices. Please check with the manufacturer of your TTY device to ensure that it supports digital wireless transmission. Your phone and TTY device

Warning: 911 Emergency Calling
It is recommended that TTY users make emergency calls by other means, including Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS), analog cellular, and landline communications. Wireless TTY calls to 911 may be corrupted when received by public safety answering points (PSAPs), rendering some communications unintelligible. The problem encountered appears related to TTY equipment or software used by PSAPs. This matter has been brought to the attention of the FCC, and the wireless industry and the PSAP community are currently working to resolve this.
