The SCS-IV series micro p rocessor based charge controllers incorporate a bre a k t h rough in design with advanced pulse-width-modulation (PWM) battery charging operation. Field proven PWM design for battery charg i n g , reduces water loss, extends battery life, and allows more daily amp-hours into the battery as compared to traditional “on-off” contro l l e r s . New SMT circuit components allow for the most compact assembly while offering the highest quality and more features of comparably priced PV contro l l e r s .
The Solar Commander Series IV-PV system c h a rge controller is for 12 volt solar electric systems rated up to 24 amps charging and intended primarily for RV applications, as well as remote homes or cabins, house boats, campground & re c reation facilities.
The attractive faceplate features four system status LED’s and a built-in LCD digital system m o n i t o r which accurately monitors battery voltage and push button displays PV curre n t . A reverse polarity protection circuit features a reverse polarity red LED for PV or battery, ensuring proper hook up.
Other Solar Commander models; (all 12V-24 amp with standard specs) SCS-IV-L, includes a load management-low voltage disconnect (LVD) circuit, prevents battery over- d i s c h a rg e f rom operation of loads during extended overcast periods. Digital meter reads load current. S C S - I V-R, includes a terminal connection to a remote current shunt, the digital meter displays loads up to 500 amps (50mv-500a shunt re q u i re d ) .
